Re: Star Trek

Thought the first couple of episodes were outstanding. Proper Star Trek. It looks more modern but you could not have done a classic looking Star Trek in this day and age it would have looked ridiculous. I love that they managed (in the first couple of episodes) to set everything up, have a great sto...

Even the original series didn't do too much with The Terror, the joke being basically that he was older than dirt and that was kind of all there is to it. I'm not sure if Overkill was in the cartoon but they did have a character based on The Punisher who used guns a lot, not sure if they're the same...

I thought it was pretty bad, but there's some promise for continuation. Mostly because hopefully going forwards, having done a tedious ninja-infested Iron Fist snoozefest, the priority will be to have one of the good characters take centre stage with a villain with a bunch of rubbish ninja minions.

I'm amazed that people are talking about Nazism as just a different opinion. It is the same as saying that being in ISIS or the KKK is a quirky opinion. Bigotry of that kind is not a tolerable opinion, people should not have to tolerate it. Nazis should not be tolerated. They are political extremist...

Capaldi did well acting, but the scripts weren't always there. Great scenes, but the overall plot failed. As far as general improvements to the show are concerned, the key here is much less the new Doctor and more the new showrunner, because Moffat was Absolute Piss. Some good episodes but far too much showing off and bullshit. So we'll see what comes of it.

Car chases in ordinary cars are the best kind of car chases. Why? Because if you know the car only cost a few thousand bucks the producers will be able to use it for stunts. The concept of a realistic superhero body seems like a contradiction in terms. The problem seems to be that we live in an age of hypersensitivity. Somebody tal...

The thing is as well that superhero stuff works on TV much better than movies. You can do villain of the week, you can do a longer arc, you can do a shorter arc, whatever the writers like. In a movie you've got to go by the numbers with the three act save-the-cat structure and then the villain dies...

It may also be about licensing fees. A fair amount of the Supergirl budget goes to licensing fees. You are correct. Licensing fees is part of the reason why we don't see Batman on tv.
