I watched some of the episodes and some were really good, but shows needed better ratings back then to survive and I forget what it was up against.

One of the best of the that season was Mark Hamill as the Trickster. He channeled a lot of the Joker when he did that on Batman: The Animated Series.

I've watched both versions of Hawaii 5-0, but still prefer the original. Nothing beats the last scene of the original with Wo-Fat in prison smiling as he pulled out a file. But both are great examples of procedurals where they were still interesting because of the characters and not the plots.

There are plenty of long running formalistic TV shows, so that isn't the problem. It is having good writing and characters that bring you back for more. Just spinning off another show from a franchise doesn't mean it will be good.

The only line in the episode of interest was Diggle choosing not to be a certain type of hero because if he did he would have to leave his family.

Flawed science is generic in movies and television. These shows are written by people that avoided science classes all their lives.

I've seen a worse fight scene in the season 2, first episode of Psych, but it was intentional.

You would need a powerful director like Gunn to be interested in the project to convince the company to do a movie like that. Otherwise they keep writing dark and depressing. After all Aquaman was funny and did great. The Suicide Squad is dark and funny, but it is too soon to tell financially.
