She does have very large areola... A feature that I have found really enjoyed in the Giga films is that the women have spectacular nipples, truly standouts... They also do a great job with costuming. the villain/monster costumes look hokey, but in a good way. They obviously are made by people with talent and love of the genre. The heroine's costumes are really beautifully done. An unfortunate aspect of US superheroine costumes is that they looked like they were bought on line and used straight out of the box, folding creases and all.

And then, of course, there was the Empire which was actively aggressive against foreign influences.
The extreme homogeneity of the society (except for Ainu and Okinawans) lends itself to an "ethnically conscious" attitude (I don't think simplistic
terms like "racism" are helpful in such discussions), and therefore the concept of a "hybrid" is much starker than in societies like America, Brazil or Australia where "mixed race" is a regular thing.

I bring this up in relation to this thread because I just started watching the animated series "Blue Eyed Samurai" which is about a warrior from the Edo Period who is half Japanese, half European, and in that time period is literally considered to be an abomination, a monster and 'deformed' just for having round, blue eyes. The flip side of that attitude, of course, is that a hybrid could also be considered very exotic and attractive, combining the best qualities of both progenitors (which is often how real genetics works), and that background could work quite well for a Japanese superheroine video in ways that it would not make the same impression in the U.S., for example.

Also, Google says that 'half' in Japanese is actually two characters: 半分 (pronounced 'hanbun') so I wonder if that term is used as well.

Its so weird we live in a messed up society that looking for racism under every rock. I just like they broke things up a bit. Some variety.

Not an expert on Japan or Japanese racism. My understanding is that Japan has a big reputation for racism. One of the reasons the carnage was so bad in WWII was the Japanese were on a major bender over racial superiority and much of it continues today. They treated the Koreans and the Chinese horrifically when they were occupiers. They have had very little immigration into Japan and did not go through the "denazification" programs the West Germans did at the end of the war, so many of those attitudes probably persist.

Translation of porn terms is probably a very iffy topic. It's porn. Translating the term for mixed race model is going to be translating what is probably a slang term into another language is going to be iffy at best. Hybrid is probably about as good as it will get. US producers have mixed race scenes and probably are only saved because the we tend to lump mixed race people into what ever group we arbitrarily assign them. Asian, black, Hispanic... For people that live in the that region, they probably are better at looking at someone of different racial background and identifying them as Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Thai.... I have no idea where this model comes from, but she doesn't look Japanese (to me). I think she is pretty, and translation of the description was probably done with software that wasn't made for translating porn.

The problem is they have a different view on stuff, say for example, half usually denoted people with half heritage, xenophobia is an issue for Japan probably longer than Edo Period, probably even before modern Japanese history, and probably since Feudal which started the entire class system that even carried on today and that largely because of the Imperial Chinese that was dominating Asia during that period.

In all, I would say Western relationship is not really that big of an impact with the Japanese, the Chinese and other Asian or even Eurasian culture have made a bigger and more long lasting impact to Japanese culture than the West, as noted with Kanji and the similar Confucius system being used in Japan

I would say that isn't correct, at least not for quite a while.

The West has a HUGE influence on Japan. First of all, they are political allies with the West and share military and civilian technology.

Then, there is the huge impact on pop culture. Pretty much all the pop culture that Japan has created in the past half-century has been a ***reflection** of Western media and cultural phenomena that already existed: APPLIANCES AND ELECTRONICS, CARS, MOTORCYCLES, COMPUTERS. COMICS, MONSTER MOVIES, SCIENCE FICTION, POP MUSIC, ANIMATION, even weird musical genres like New Age music, electronic music, experimental music, avantgarde jazz, psychedelia etc. Manga has essentially defeated Western comics in the marketplace. Shonen Knife is the female Ramones.
I could just go on and on and on.

Japan copied the West. All of that is Western-derived. Believe me, I know this, I have been immersed in a lot of these developments since the 80s.

And then, this was all followed by China copying the West as well. The difference between Japan is that the Japanese generally do original things
with their Western influences and generally put an entertaining spin on it, basically creating their own genres out of Western materials.

With China, it's more like stealing and pirating. Billions of dollars in the ideological equivalent of fake Gucci bags. I know that's a generalization, but there's a marked difference in the way the two cultures and economies operate. China is a lot more top-down and centrally planned and doesn't really reward radical innovation and genius the way Japan does. It stamps the freethinkers out or consigns them to prison camps (I mean, look what they did to Jack Ma for years, or to Ai Wei Wei, or to thousands of Hong Kong students.) Also, China literally thinks of the West as the enemy and wants to take us down. Japan, obviously, does not.

Does all of that make sense? Seems like a digression in topic from just talking about Giga, but it isn't really. After all, Giga is genius next-level SHIP. Quite often, they do Western SHIP one better. Nobody in America is putting out ten Spandexers a year. So what I've said above Japanese quirky excellence holds true for Giga, as well...in spades.

Well, i have the idea you were talking about ancient Japan instead of modern or contemporary Japan. I do agree at the later stage of Japanese History (probably around the last 200 may even be since 1700) the west has quite a lot of influence in Japanese history and culture that way. on the other hand, bear in mind Japanese don't just call half westerner "hafu" that was a blanketed term for all non-Japanese, which they called Naomi Osaka hafu

What I was talking about is the earlier period of Japan, some 1000+ years ago, Japan culture and practices are very influenced by China and other Asian proper countries, I was talking about Kamakura or Heisei Period. That set the class system a long time ago, where people in upper class (shogun, daifu (sp?)) would basically live in a different world then rural class Japanese back in the days. You can say that is similar to medieval history, but I am pretty sure that pre-dated ages of sail so there should not have been such influence in those periods I mentioned by the west.

It's OK, man, no worries.
There's just a difference in culture.
In the West, a "hybrid" at this point usually means a cross-breed between two species of animal or plant.
In Japan, it means a cross-breed between humans as well.
Think of it this way: "heterosis" or "hybrid vigor" is the phenomenon that occurs quite often when a hybrid offspring performs better than either of its parents (stronger, faster, more successful, etc).
That's why, despite the tendency of many societies to inbreed (depending on how insular they are), it's actually a much better idea to outbreed in terms of increasing the vigor of a given species.
Hence, there's scientific validity in this superheroine becoming more powerful (and yes, more beautiful and sexy) than her non-hybrid counterparts.
That's actually a good premise for a story - one that's been done many times in science fiction and comic books.
And I still haven't mentioned anything before 1603.
