Well, it's a tweet by Grummz. So it has to be true.

Wait. Actually it's a screen shot of a tweet. From Grummz. Not either of the actresses.

So... maybe don't believe outrage porn?

Or at least provide the quote from the people you're vilifying.

Also, wow are they hot! I really want to see this movie.

Just remember, Sydney said all her nude sex scenes in Euphoria were empowering, NOTHING more empowering than being a sexy nude or fetish costumed heroine in public with men AND women focusing their attention on you!!

So the only even half decent Sony live action spiderverse movie is the gay romcom about Tom Hardy dating a giant CGI Tom Hardy?

They're giving the DCEU a run for its money.

For me its stop with the Spiderman knock offs and just give me a spider man movie with no world saving etc. Just a Spiderman plot. I don't want to see Spiderman's cousin Bert. Or some side characters like Kraven or Morbius.
Again its like you're promised Transformers for XMAS but all you get are Go-Bots.

I disagree. I see no problem with spinoff movies.

Both Venom movies made money. Sony simply wants to use its stable of characters and give movie industry workers some gainful employment, while marking the time between bigger Spiderman flicks. Good for them - it's comic book content. If there are some sexy characters in them (Shriek, Calypso, Aranya, Madame Web, Julia Carpenter, Mattie Franklin), all the better.

Will you say that Joker, Birds of Prey, Catwoman, Harley Quinn, and Batgirl were *all* unnecessary Batman knockoffs?
Will you say that Supergirl is an unnecessary Superman knockoff? (We'd barely have a fetish if it wasn't for Helen and Melissa)
Was the success of the Aquaman movies unnecessary merely because it was a spinoff of Justice League?

Spinoff movies just have to be done right. From the critical appraisal it looks like Madame Web might not have been done right, but I'll reserve the right to see it for myself, as well as to judge it on certain, uh, 'criteria' which critics on Rotten Tomatoes probably wouldn't openly acknowledge.

Is there a Batgirl movie? Somehow they've never been able to make Batgirl look hot. Why is that?

WBD took a tax write-off for Bargirl movie. It was made to be an HBO Max movie and they complained it was a theatrical release quality with that not being the plan.

Bargirl looked hot enough for the 1968 TV season with more restrictions on what they could do for that time slot.

Now they are taking a tax write-off for Coyote vs ACME even though it was considered better by test audiences and other platforms wanted it. They offered it in a way that no one had a second chance to bid after finding out the secret desired price range.

Aquaman wasn't ever an A-list character until the movies came out.
His comics didn't do as well as, say, Green Lantern or The Flash.

Wonder Woman we didn't talk about because we didn't need to - she had her own book from the start, and is considered the *third* most important DC superhero, even though she might technically NOT be, popularity and saleswise, at least not until very recently. (For example, during the "Rebirth" period in the mid 2010s, Green Lantern and Flash both far outsold Wonder Woman on the stands.)

But if you look at my list above, you'll see a bunch of marginal characters who BECAME A-list due to TV and movie exposure, and there's more:
Catwoman
Harley Quinn
Joker
Supergirl
Venom
Carol Danvers
Black Widow
Doctor Strange
Scarlet Witch
Loki
maybe She-Hulk
The proof is in the pudding especially by how many cosplayers you see at Cons. I see a ton of cosplayers of all of the above except She-Hulk.
But even if you don't see a lot of She-Hulks at Con (the body paint is tough), I'll tell you this: a lot more people know who She-Hulk is now.
We have a large 1990s She-Hulk action figure on our vendor table (along with Power Girl, Thundra, Painkiller Jane and Xena)
and the girls who walk by know who she is.

I mean, a lot of what the MCU did was create spinoffs for TV. Some of those worked better than others, but most of those shows created fanbases
for characters who barely had any fans before. A really good example of that is Loki.

If you want to seem them in the costumes I wouldn’t go see this film

This isn’t a SHIP film, nor does it feature any costumed peril

It be nice if they gave Sweeney her own spinoff though

I can't say I'm surprised? The trailers, the written premise, all of it pointed at something that wasn't really gonna be that great OR that relevant even to the fetish. Even in the writeup it was plain that any costumed superhero stuff was like 'the future' while the plot was mainly PRE-superheroes... That said if word of the films execution is to be believed, it probably still wouldn't be of much quality even if it WAS the kind of film we'd like to see... at least factoring the expectations one has of an enormous production company.

I wouldn’t say that to be true. Wonder Woman (2017) had some light peril. The Flash had some light SHIP peril.

This film - the characters in costumes SPOILERS - is a dream sequence - in the story actually told they never actually have costumes or are shown in any action scenes. By the end of the film - they do not have costumes or super powers. It’s literally like a 20 second scene that’s a hallucination.

The Trailer is 90 percent of the costume sequences depicted

And since it looks like this film is going to be a disaster at the box office, it's probably safe to say we'll never get another movie where these girls will be in their proper costumes. Sad. :(

Omg... that is a real bummer. So the only relevant thing that this movie has offered is ... the nice premiere photos :shifty:

As if we need to pound this any further into the ground, Jeff Hicks (who did a back cover pinup for the upcoming fourth issue of Heroineburgh, and is an amazingly nice guy) from World Class Bullshitters gave Madame Web a 3 out of 10. He shows a clip of the completely empty theater he saw it in (he lives near Columbus).

As a comic book character, Aquaman is not a first tier character. He hasn't been published continuously, and there have been a lot of conceptual turnovers over the last 30 years.

I'd say he's probably comparable to Hawkman.

Does Sony have any sort of real Game plan at this point? It's hard to get a read on what they are actually trying to DO at the moment? Are all these Spider-Villain movies just basically... rights holding tactics? Is rights hoarding even still a profitable venture this day and age where even cheap budget action films have ballooned budgets? Sony appears to be floating by on Spider-Man marvel collab bucks and just not even TRYING to put out anything of any real quality or substance outside of that? Madam Webb is gonna be preceded by Morbius... and followed up by... Kraven right? What's HAPPENING over there?

Nevermind, I answered my own question. When the rights you're holding onto are Spider-man and allowing you to share the Marvel Bucks, it was at least profitable while Marvel was on top of the clouds.

We already discussed this, but Nerdrotic is the first Youtuber I've heard confirm it:
None of the women are in their costumes at all in this movie, except for a short vision that the villain has about them.

I'm watching it tonight anyway. We'll see if I can get all the way through it.

There are other small "future" scenes at the very end... but that's it really.

Anyway it's not "soooo bad" as many say, sure, it's bad but ... "not really good" / "standard bad" surely not ''the worst superhero/superheroine movie of all times" bad. I give it 5.5/10

I got through it fine until just before the diner fight scene, then I started nodding off and fell asleep.
There is a nice peril scene at the beginning for Cassie's mom when she gets threatened by Ezekiel and then she is basically strapped down
and dosed with spider venom by the Jungle Spider-Men (ostensibly to save the baby, I guess?).
Since I didn't get to the end yet - yes, so far, the only time they're in costume is in the villain's dream, and I don't even see any use of powers yet.
I'll pick up the rest of it by the end of the weekend and give final assessment.

Feels like Sony have fucked up here. Surely Disney must have offered them a stack of cash for Spider-Man exclusivity and all that goes with it, but that's not a property that is going to be going up in value any time soon. I don't know if Deadpool 3 or a Fantastic Four movie, even the arrival of the X-Men, could dig the MCU out. I mean it'll keep ticking over and making its money as ever, but there's no more Endgames and I think everybody must know that at this point.

Sony have sat on their prized asset, and it's gone stale. And these godawful movies aren't helping anybody.

Yeah...I decided not to bother watching the rest of this. Mainly because Critical Drinker not only finished the movie for me, but also asked the question which was on everyone's minds in this Forum (skip to 6:04 ). Earlier in this clip, he is quoted as saying ""I've had dreams about women that were dressed in Spider-Woman outfits too, let's just say they weren't trying to kill me." Truly a man of culture.

Dakota Johnson was my reason for checking out this movies since I have hear of the characters they are suppose to portray and I am glad I did. I enjoyed it very much. It did not drone on like some movies tend to do by introduce the characters. Now since this is them before getting their powers, can I assume this this is the begging of them before they become superheroes and more movies are coming?

I have not seen this, and now I don't know if I want to see this.

Checked out many review, they all bombed, and the box office is........s@$%. It was a lot of promise and I feared that it will be ended up like the game "The Day Before" which promise one thing and deliver another.

Should I still spend $30 for a review bomb? Or should I just skip it. I am not a fan of Spiderman franchise, but I do love woman in tight costume.

You can always wait for the DVD and hope the extras have more of what you want and the ability to watch your favorite scenes more often.

Now if this can make enough money to convince Sony to do more movies and the origin stories of the other three Spiders? They made enough from Spider-Man, Venom, and the animated Spiderverse ones to pay for a few failures in hopes of another decent one.

So the whole Silk writing staff got axed cause of this movie. And retooling to attract men? So spend at least 2 decades shitting on men, ruining any fan service and male gaze material, give us mostly angry girl power karens who apparently don't like men, grind men into the dirt and make them clowns, focus on only girl power, ruin the material then think men will up and just return to the box office? Talk about a horrific Mommy Dearest abusive relationship.

As others point out this is like someone restoring a previous level to play the game over only that people have memories. We know the writers will fake it until they are once more in control then re-introduce their nonsense. The writer for Ms. Marvel said her parents, who were raging democrats, would join the republican party, convince people they were republican, join campaigns then sabotage the campaigns. This is the mentality you're dealing with.

Basically you are NOT getting fan service EVER. You will be relentlessly punished for something you didn't do so punish them by not buying. Buy anime and other markets.

THIS is what we get for Wonder Woman? This is borderline trans at this point.

I think they didn't show much of the costumes because they expected there'd be a sequel somehow. I can't imagine it would happen. The movie is so bad that Dakota fired her agency, and the entire writing team for Silk also got fired. There's probably more draconian axing to come.

I saw several Youtube comments asking why Sony didn't just cast Sydney Sweeney as Black Cat instead. Indeed she would have been perfect.
But I think a lot of these people just never heard of the scrapped Black Cat/Silver Sable movie, in which Felicity Jones would possibly have been Black Cat. There's a whole Wikipedia page about it: a movie that never even got filmed.

I don't know how many people know the story behind that, but there's a lot more to it than director Gina Prince-Bythewood merely deciding to direct The Old Guard instead (a Greg Rucka superhero property which promptly fell down the memory hole).

Gina and her husband are crusaders for representation and swapping, and she openly advocated for casting Felicia Hardy as a black lesbian. Dodged a bullet on that one. That would have been a Madame Web style disaster, but three or four years ago.

So Sony really did a "The Day Before" for this movie? Get all the goods in the trailer and none of them in the movie

I want to see sexy woman wearing skin tight costume in peril, judging from what I see in the review of this movie this far, this is everything but that.

If this is the case, unless they have a whole behind the scene feature on that, I am not really interested in what some reviewer described as "4 angry young women road trip..."

This film being described as 4 angry young women road trip is massively misleading

The 3 younger actresses actually try to impress a group of boys in the movie and even dance on a table in front of them

The movie is simply stupid and doesn't give us the moment of payoff in an origin film where the hero suits up - they avoided costumes at all cost essentially

Yeah, it's very strange as well in this day and age where we've basically become desensitized to what they'd have considered 'silly costumes' back in the late 90's early 00's
In fact... the film as advertised struck me VERY hard as advertising a film from a generation or two behind us... cagey of being taken 'serious' in a way baffling for a superhero film made today...

But quality always overcomes the nitpicks. A GOOD movie could still be made here if it was put together well, even if it would disappoint some folks not to see them in costumes for most of it, that alone wouldn't make the film 'bad'... and like you've said the movie just seems to be getting panned as 'bad' and the lack of proper Superhero elements inside of it are academic more than marks of what is actually wrong with the film. I'll have to wait to see it myself to see if I agree that its bad or not, but I've been sus of this film since the first trailer in pretty much the same way I was sus of Morbius and the upcoming Kraven film. They just don't quite have the vibe of SERIOUS films coming out of such a large film production corporation.

So do we KNOW that the silk writers room was reshuffled as a direct result of this film? Or is that just conjecture? All I've seen on it so far is that the writer's room got replaced to focus on a male audience. If the real reason is the former, and the later is just the current roadmap as result of the shift, it probably means we'll at least get a consistently presented COSTUME for Silk.

The chances of anybody who has been claiming this being in the know about this are less than zero, so assume it's bullshit.

The Silk writer's room firing seems to be tied to the writers strike.

I will wait for the porn parody
Yup though not much to work with. Part of a porn parody is the original subject matter is enticing. Suicide Squad WW looks like she's wearing a cat blanket around her neck. What even is that?

Spider-man xxx 2 Axel Braun

The Madame Web scene 5 is hot as hell.
I was referring to suicide squad and I never said the web costumes were bad. But a parody about less than 5% of the movie kind of is bad. Would have been nice if this was 90% of the movie.
