Sorry not sure where else to put this but saw Mr X's DangerBabeCentral sale (50% off) but also saw what looks to be a remake of "The Trials of Ms Americana", @Mr. X is this true? Might need to sign up for a subscription instead of just looking at the sale items

Hey Mr X what was the story with the original hiatus of "The Trials of Ms A"... Know it had something SHC vs DBC, was this ever explained anywhere? Also miss that older Ms Americana model though your latest updates are looking good
Think I'll sign up for the 3 months membership shortly (was going to wait for more build up but think this deserves the purchase )

Simply put SHC collapsed and DanO couldn't pay me for updates. Thanks for joining!

I think the cycles stuff looks a lot better than the old firefly/renderman.

Hello Mr. X
Referring to 2011 vs. 2024.
The 2012 version of the 3ds Max program introduced the skin material, followed by IRAY and V-RAY in 2018. It is worth noting the improvement in the skin of Mrs. Americana 2024, as well as the enhanced details of the model's anatomy (anus and nipples) . However, from an aesthetic standpoint, I personally find the 2011 version more attractive. Have you considered applying the 2024 material to the older 2011 model?

I think the appeal is the 2011 model is more cartoony, at least IMHO. It had a different shape and looked more anime-ish. Also the old renderer I used is a renderman rendering system similar to what Pixar uses and works well rendering more cartoonish style.argento wrote: ↑2 months agoHello Mr. X

I am more moving toward the quality Black Adder has with his renders though Octane does a much better job with lighting than cycles right now.
DAZ uses IRAY for its renderer which also looks good however I don't want to switch to DAZ namely because I have too much money invested in Poser plus other issues.

Not sure what render time is for the programs you use or how good of a rig you got (assuming it's pretty good), but render times for Daz with iray have constantly taken longer and longer since they updated to it. I swear each update of Daz leads to longer render times with the same assets, like s low doubling or tripling of render times over the last few years.
Real-time shadows can be costly to render, particularly for objects with high opacity maps, such as wigs and trees. To optimize rendering in 3ds max, I duplicate the high render object and reduce its complexity by up to 20% (pro optimizer). Then, I make this optimized object non-renderable, so it only casts shadows. Finally, I turn off the shadows of the original object, leaving it with only the shadow of the optimized object. A 'proxy' of the model can also be created.
In Poser its really a matter of using superfly(cycles) vs firefly. Firefly does not use the GPU for rendering so you need a high end machine to render in a timely manner. With Superfly it uses the cycles code from Blender and uses the 3d card so the card is the key. I can do a 2048 by 2622 render in about a minute in superfly. That was one reason I switched to it. I believe DAZ may have issues in the future given that the makers of IRAY (I think intel) maybe phasing it out. Plus DAZ has no Mac option. I used a thread ripper for firefly renders but have switched to now a 3060 card and a lower end machine/laptop. Optix is way fast.Philo Hunter wrote: ↑2 months agoNot sure what render time is for the programs you use or how good of a rig you got (assuming it's pretty good), but render times for Daz with iray have constantly taken longer and longer since they updated to it. I know DAZ internal structures are pretty elaborate. Poser hurts because they didn't switch to Unimesh over the years. They should have done that back in poser 7. Also DAZ has a closed file architecture which prevents Poser from loading their assets.
So basically anything you can do in Blender cycles you can do in poser superfly. Plus poser superfly supports material layers so you can put a mask layer on the face without doing a bunch of node magic. Or a second skin layer. Or a sweat or bruise layer.
