Choosing a fetish model for productions?

Hey Producers and Fans. Need some advice for something that I'm helping someone with:

When it comes to doing a custom request, are the fans allowed to choose the fetish model or do the producers choose for them? The reason I ask is because I've been chatting with some people who are trying to have fetish work done but are unable to do it because the fetish models they select have either retired or no longer perform certain kinds of content. Thus, they scrap their ideas because they are unable to find the right person to fit the bill for what they request.

While this is heartbreaking to hear, I'm curious to know what should the customer do when a specific fetish model they request is no longer available? Should they still continue with the request or just scrap the idea? If they are having trouble picking out a fetish model, can/and should producers pick for them? Basically, what I'm asking is that if a fan is having trouble selecting someone for a custom idea, would it be better for the producer to suggest someone as long as that someone meets the criteria for what they are looking for?

Like, what do producers do in an attempt to avoid letting a good customer get away from them?

It does depend, often a producer will announce they have a model visiting and therefore available for customs.

If a customer is requesting a specific model, maybe a producer can suggest another model - ultimately it comes down to that customer though.

Personally I don't understand why it "has" to be a specific model, casting always takes some give and take - anyone ordering a custom should prepare to have some flexibility on that count. Should, not must.

The obvious answer is you move on to someone else or you forget about it.
As a producer, you know the models that are in your area, so you simply offer a replacement that might resemble the original model in either looks or skill, since those seem to be the main criteria.
If a replacement can't be found, then there's nothing to do.

Good points swampy, I like what you have to say on this. The reason I say specific is because my friend likes his performers to be of a certain ethnicity. For example, he likes Asian women and he's looking for someone to play Lady Tanaka from the 1989 version of the Punisher. Nicole Oring was his first choice, but she's retired from the kind of content that he's looking to see her perform.

Also, he likes fetish models that can perform specific accents like German, Swiss or Russian or Italian or Hispanic and Latino. The main thing he looks for is someone who is good with vocal performance as well as sexual performance.

Yeah, it depends on the producer.

Some producers have access to a very large pool of potential talent. I think location has a lot to do with it. I can't tell you the number of times I've e-mailed a producer and requested a specific model and I'm told that she's not an option because she's on the opposite coast. Or at least that I will have to wait until she happens to be traveling to the producer's area.

Cali Logan, for example, has a very small pool of local models to choose from. The videos I ordered from her with Sinn Sage were all basically like "Oh, Sinn Sage is going to be in Cali's area, time to order the next chapter in the series."

I just started talking to the folks at Primal about making another custom for me and they sent me a long list of models who are either local or will be shooting with them in the near future. So I spent half the day on Sunday googling these models because hardly any of them are big names. It was actually quite fun picking the right one. My research includes Google, then looking at some of the big bondage and/or superheroine studios to see what videos the model has previously been in. Has she done bondage? Has she done any superheroine work? If so, can I see a sample of what she looks/sounds like when performing?

Obviously, no producer can do anything if the model you want is retired. That's just a fact of life.

Of course, there is also another case where you have a specific model in mind and you work the other way - you start with the model and then try to find a producer who can get her. That's only basically happened to me once - with Melissa Jacobs. I searched high and low for someone who could get her just so I could get a video with her in it.

I had issues like this until we started the mailing list.
Before we had to field constant questions from what we call "dry by clients" basically clients looking to have a certain model or looking for a list of models coming.

Once we started our mailing list and we started adding what models are coming this month, the next, and the month after that we found we stopped having drive by clients and started getting more committed replies
(I havent ordered a custom from you because i wasn't interested in the models you have but when i saw that you're working with kymberly jane I had to jump immediately to get a custom"

So i think if more producers started creating mailing list and more people joined them I think we could sort almost everybody.

You would be surprised how many times I still get blamed because a model has retired/ isnt allowed to work with males anymore/ is strictly a producer.

MY favorite is a guy whop only wants one model.
She retired and got her degree and is working with one of the biggest non-profits in NYC helping to feed children. Every year he asks if shes available, every year I tell him she's retired and every year he says ok and then waits a year to ask again. he just wont book with any other model, and wont take "retired" seriously. this has been going on for almost 4 years. he still gets pissy with me when i tell her shes still retired

Well, to be fair to the guy, porn stars have a long and illustrious history of retiring and then coming out of retirement when other things don't work out. Four years seems pretty solid, though. :)

Fetish models are dropping off the radar like flies these days. I just got requests the past few weeks for models who no longer shoot (Paris Kennedy, Randy Moore, Ali Rae, ..) and my fellow friend producers received the same request from the same customer.

I have seen a hundred models come and go. Truth is, if someone is retired they are gone. Let it go. They are simply not coming back to shoot. They moved on. I suggest you order custom video with actresses actively shooting or your chance to get one with them will be gone.
And if you are looking for a beautiful Asian model I would suggest Akira Lane. She is great!
Have a great day
Anastasia

Ps: If a customer is looking for a specific type or look I will suggest different actresses but I need to know that it is a serious custom request. Before Going into long drawn conversation about every details.

26 isn't old! I recently tried to order a custom with a model who's in her 40s. I'm having a brain fart right now, though and for the life of me I can't remember her name. Maybe becuase I'm also in my 40s. :-P

Paris Kennedy? Randy Moore? Ali Rae? Paige Richards? Man, these ladies must've really made a long-lasting impression if there are people asking for them now. And that's saying a lot...

I think one of the reasons people ask for these folks (not just because of looks) is because they're 'veteran' performers like you Anastasia. Well, I'm not sure about Ali as I haven't seen her in much. But Paige, Paris and Randy were definitely at the top of their game with you Anastasia. So, if they're (the customer) looking for someone in the 'veteran' category, if I were you that'd probably be the first bag I'd draw names from...someone that you've worked with in the past who is still active now. Some people may not always 'request' the new talent that's out and about now unless they have the look that the customer wants or desires...

...just some food for thought.

In regards to the original question:

I agree with swampy170. Most producers have a listing of models on their website. (usually girls that live relatively nearby, good friends, part of the same production company, or can travel and stay for a weekend to do the work. You may have to wait a little bit so the producer and model can work out a schedule to do the work - allow them to do so). If there is a specific model you want to work with a specific producer - 1. the two may not want to work together for whatever reason - pick any myriad of reasons 2. the costs for travel for one party to meet the other would usually be picked up by the consumer (and this is usually posted on a producers website).

We all have our fan favorites. I approached mine (3 out of 4 I'm a fan of really) . But I also fully realized that I would have to be flexible if things 'didn't work out.' You might have to do the same.

Last observation, friends: Anastasia is obviously the best voice on the subject of models and how long they stay in the business. It seems that most models are around for 4-6 years at the most. Maybe they are paying off college classes and will move on to other things with that education once they graduate, perhaps they want to start a family, or it's within the realm of possibilities that an model has faced the opinion that the are 'too old' - pick any myriad of reasons. Also, some models are hard to contact because...well, let's be real...there's overenthusiastic fans (a.k.a. stalkers - I'm sure the ladies have horror stories) and they do not want to be found. And fortunately, some really love their job and are in it for the long haul. ( luv ya for it Anastasia!!!)

I would love to see Abella Danger in a Wonder Woman bondage fetish video. She's been around for about two years now, but there's no way to contact her to see about a custom. See what I mean? Be flexible!!

These are all great responses everybody and the information we've compiled is helping us to help our friend to narrow down some possibilities for the idea they're working on. if anybody else has some insight that will help with this, please post.

Came across this old thread, and I must say that I am still lamenting some of those veteran retirements (Paris Kennedy, Randy Moore, etc.). Wishing them all the best in whatever they're doing now, but do miss them. There are lots of great new performers coming along all the time, plus the stellar veterans that are still cranking out masterpieces. But it's a hit when someone that happened to push all of my buttons, or that was pivotal in my introduction to this genre, steps away into retirement. I am one of those people that tends to write scripts with particular performers in mind, focusing the content on what I perceive to be their strengths, or at least what's most interesting to me about them. The same script concept just may not translate to someone else, at least for me. So I tend to get used to writing scripts for the same cadre of models that I'm familiar with, and when a favorite retires, there's kind of a hole left there until I find someone with similar attributes, or until I just retool my script writing to focus on different attributes of some other models who are still performing. Just part of the inevitable cycle of performers coming and going. Every now and then, a retired fave starts performing again, but usually not.

I think the pandemic will make a lot of superheroines models retire. I hate that thought, because I do have my favorites as well. And because of the pandemic, it's not like there is a 'new selection of models'. I also write with a particular model in mind most times. I'm hoping some studios will update their 'model list'. Still hopeful in getting one more done.

I have a script I've been working on for a while and I've been looking for a model to make the video for it... and I just can't find the right fit. There are actually a couple of models that I have approached about it, but they were not interested for various reasons. Some models just don't want to do complex or lengthy scripts, so that's always a bummer.

So now I'm basically in this mode where I am constantly on the lookout for someone new who I think can pull it off to hit the scene. :)

I hadn't thought about the pandemic causing a wave of actual retirements (I hope not), but shooting definitely has slowed down for many producers/performers. This custom video hobby definitely has taught me patience, since even before the pandemic it could take a long time to get the stars to align for just the right performer to be shooting with just the right producer for a specific script of mine. But I learned early on (the hard way) just how important the model I have in mind for the script can be to me when a producer called me the morning of a shoot to say that my requested model, who had committed to the production weeks before, had just backed out. It was a fairly complex multi-girl shoot, and everyone else showed up, so the producer really pressed me to accept a replacement, who was someone that I'd never worked with before but the producer knew she was available that day on short notice and promised me that she would be "perfect" for the role. I had a bad feeling but agreed to the replacement. Sure enough, the final video just didn't work for me, not because the replacement did a bad job, but because the script was focused around specific attributes that she just didn't have. The producer didn't realize how important the original model's attributes were to the script (for me) and didn't think it would matter to have a model with a totally different look and body type in the role, as long as she was still a good actress. But ... nope, it mattered. Lesson learned. Some producers require the customer to agree up front that last-minute changes in casting might be made at the producer's discretion, which I can certainly understand from the producer's point of view, since they still have to pay the rest of the cast and crew that shows up even if the star model doesn't. But from my point of view, cast changes are just not something I can work with, given how tailored my scripts are to the performers I have in mind, so these days the producers that I work with regularly all understand that it's the cast we agree to, or not at all. But getting all of that to fall into place can just take time, and if a key performer just plain retires before the shoot can happen, then I wind up where you are, TIEnTEEZ, on a very long lookout for someone new to come along that I think can actually fit the bill.

I ´m very excited about a Brazilian Wonder Woman. Could it be a new fetish?
Image
DC Comics just announced Future State, a two-month event where most of DC's comics will be replaced by a new lineup. The stories take place in 2030, debuting a new cast of characters as well as future versions for other established characters. One of those new characters is Yara Flor, the brand new Wonder Woman.

Oh, so it's like DC's equivalent of Marvel 2099? That's actually pretty cool.
