Just looked over the latest video released by Rye ("Fatal Gasm") and started to wonder if Rye is just about ready to quit the genre. Between the lack of any effort in the detail of the video--on SHG, the full description of Part 1 is "Diana is lured into a trap and is forced to do many horrific deeds for her blackmailer" and Part 2 is "Wonderous Woman stands no chance against the Death Dealer". The megapack (parts 1 and 2) has a bit more, but it's just this: "Wonderous Woman falls into a trap where she has to choose between her freedom and the safety of her friends and loved ones. This movie includes many forced orgasms, beatdowns, groping, sim sex, Fausta KO, low blow, and a permanent ending with stare".

Between a seemingly total lack of enthusiasm with his products and the complete blocking of any conversation on the Heroine Movies site, it seems as though Rye has lost interest in the genre. If so, this is quite unfortunate as he is one of the very best in the genre and was the leader in SHIP for over a decade (in my humble opinion). I have been a huge fan of Rye and his work, but I believe I can objectively critique his work without my bias in his favor affecting the accuracy of the critique. My thought is that the amount of videos made and the desire to have videos commissioned has taken away from Rye's creativity and passion for SHIP videos.

Just some ramblings on a Friday afternoon. Here's hoping Rye is doing well and may return to his former glory. He's always seemed like a good guy, though he may be going through some burnout lately.

The comments on Rye's movies over at Heroine Movies kept turning into shit shows. Unrelentingly negative comments, arguments, etc. He just didn't want to deal with them. Also, no producer (or very few) are making movies for themselves or with the input of the superheroine fetish community. Sales don't justify that any more. Why listen to a bunch of whiners who are only going to suppress sales? Customs are the only thing that makes money. And you only have to please 1 customer.

Back in the day (2005-2015) Rye or Alex David or TBFE could let their creativity loose and make movies they wanted to make. And we would buy them. And they made enough money to live and to make more movies. Now sales are so low you can't justify the expense of making your own movie the way you want to make it.

I guarantee that if Rye could turn a profit, he could pump out a dozen epic Supergirl movies that would blow our minds. But not enough people are willing to buy them.

The comments were somewhat negative but there was also a fair amount of support too. The problem was the commissions often lacked creativity and Rye could only add so much creativity while limited to the confines of someone else’s script. But the people posting on the site posted on many different producer’s threads, so the criticism was not unique to him.

As for profit, I don’t know where you’re coming up with his numbers, but I suppose it could be true. I’m thinking it’s something quite similar to what you’re suggesting: get someone to commission the right video (a superheroine who will sell fairly well) and take their upfront money and then make more with the sales to the general public just as producers did before taking commissions. Basically, it’s the usual sales PLUS the commission bonus. Can’t really fault any producer for maxing their financial security.

But my initial post is because it seems like there is even less enthusiasm and interest from Rye. The rollout alone seemed muted and uninspired, as were the descriptions for all three options. Maybe it’s a one-off, but it seems like Rye is distancing himself from the fan base and the product in general.

Huge fan of Rye here! Loved all of his work. I really don’t know if Rye is done with making videos. I can only speculate. I’ve commissioned a couple of customs from him this past decade and I can for sure say he was less communicative this last go around.

He still gave great input though and suggestions to make the movie sexier, but it felt different this time. He seemed more enthusiastic back in 2010-2011 when I first ordered a custom movie.

I’m sure a lot of the piracy / video sharing over the internet killed a lot of the enthusiasm.

I always felt Rye's work was the best in this genre. At least in terms of what I was looking for. He always had lots of great kos in costume and some great money shots with spread eagle and upskirt segments. He's probably getting a little older like the rest of us. 70's WW - Lynda Carter hooked a bunch of us in our teens. My main reason for not buying everyone of his vids now is his models/actresses he is using. They are just not has hot and great figured as some of his previous ones. Oh for the days of GiGi Allens ... along with some others. That and a little to much sex out of costume these days. But his legacy and great vids will live on ... I doubt that GiGi Allens Endgame and WW vs Zander will ever be topped. Bluestone has continued to churn them out and does continue to use really hot actresses. Just wish they took some lessons from Rye on money shots and upskirt peril views. Hope Rye continues ... and I wouldn't mind the animated ones he recently did ... if they were a little cheaper. My 2 cents ... Luther

Rye hasn't been good since Paris Dylan, Alexis Monroe, GG Allens days. He's been mailing it in ever since with average quality films and average looking women.

You took the words right out of my mouth Lex. Although Bluestone really needs to step up to real porn; they're pure cock tease now.

I agree with CIA as well. One thing with Bluestone is they can get better quality models if they don't do porn or nudity. And burn out is a huge issue, that and profit margins. In the old days you could spend $1k and make $3k. Now you spend $6k and won't break even. Models are more expensive plus most now do OF and not model.

Its also hard to distinguish between a loud minority and the majority who want something different. Sure you may have some loud tickle fans but they may not buy much but a silent group who want to see porn.

Speaking of producers, Giga/Akiba has also gone rather boring. Most of their offerings are the same and they go from costume to porn scene. As formulaic as a NCIS plot.
