Well there seems to be almost universal agreement Gunn's Supergirl was a major disaster

Milly Alcock did not help by following that promotion tour method of Rachel Ziegler, Bree Larsen Ncuti Gatwa of attacking your audience
The plot was uninteresting
And on superficial note, Supergirl should be blond and at least medium height.

She is blonde in the film.
Personally, I liked it. Not on the level of let's say Wonder Woman or Black Widow, but still very enjoyable. I gave it 85%. If I wasn't so busy right now, I would have went a second time already, but I will definitely get the DVD,

Re: Supergirl a dud
I'm surprised it's taken this long for someone to post about the Supergirl film. I don't know whether that says something about the film itself or the relative health of this website. I'm still not sure whether I will see the film, I'm on the fence, probably won't see it until it lands on HBO MAX. Milly's comments didn't help, but it's not going to be a deciding factor for me.
Re: Supergirl a dud
It seems to be a problem with not just the movie itself, but also a case of the wrong movie at the wrong time.
This is a side story coming out at a point where they should be introducing the main players in the DC Universe.
I don't blame audiences for saying "Are Batman and Wonder Woman in it? No? Then why should I care?"
They've had two years to launch the new DCU, and they're still noodling around with side projects instead of showing us what the big picture is going to be. It's no wonder that audiences aren't engaged.

Thanks for the Review... I always take the word of a film reviewer that has been dead for more than a decade... Didn't he write Valley of the Dolls for Roger Corman?Dazzle1 wrote: ↑1 day agoWell there seems to be almost universal agreement Gunn's Supergirl was a major disaster

I have not had a chance to see the movie myself. I will point out that part of why I am going to watch it is to see a cute cute girl in a short skirt kick some ass and hopefully find some trouble....
Plenty of movies that bomb in the theaters find cult status later one... Flash Gordon, Barbarella, the original Supergirl. I like that this one has tried to give us something other than the squeeky clean princess of the comics and television show. That version has had a movie, and a couple of TV iterations. The wheels have been coming off the Superhero cart for a while, but they have been predominantly Male superheroes. I will waste my time watching this version, and I hope to enjoy it. I doubt the female reviewer on Ebert.com has the same appreciation for the genre that I do...
Hopefully, I will be pleasantly surprised....
