That way lies madness

That's because people think its sci fi. Its not. Its sci horror. All horror is irrational. Its an updated version of Friday the 13th.

That, and it sucks. Alien took the rules of a traditional slasher flick and shifted them so seamlessly to sci fi that people didn't even realise it was a slasher flick. Prometheus had some goo.

And then 'Aliens' turned that slasher flick into a frigging dang good action movie that was still scary...... and then Alien 3 started a precedent that never ended... here's hoping the next one can rediscover its roots.

I do think we've got a bit off topic though.

Yeah, Aliens shifts genres into being a war movie, and is amazing. Then Alien 3 went back to horror but the diminishing returns kind of knackered it, which has dragged down the whole series. Alien works because the Alien is amazing and surprising. Aliens works because the marines are amazing and surprising. The others have all fallen down by not having anything to add. The mysteries of Prometheus just come across like hankerchiefs up a crap magicians sleeve.

But, yeah, star wars. What's up with that. :P

Re: My Issues with Rey in The Force Awakens

As good as the movie was(special effects) I felt like the whole thing is just a retelling of the first 2 or 3 Star Wars movies.
