Can I vote for Selina Meyer? She's like a MILF version of Hannah Perez.
Or are you going to deny a Fictional American her right to run for office alongside persons with existential privilege? (Although I strongly suspect Donald Trump might be a satirical character.)

Republicans have a stark choice:
The conspiracy theorist nutjob (endorsed by chief conspiracy loon Alex Jones himself) who will spout literally any old made-up shit and can't quite decide whether the KKK are bad people.
or
The fundie nutjob who denies most science and would like to live in a theocracy.
I know the Democrats' Hillary has a history of being selective with the truth, but she just doesn't have the WTF Factor of zany conspiracy theories and religious extremism.

A vote for Trump is a vote for the status quo. You can't vote in a 1%'er as your president and then turn around and bitch about how 1% of America has all the money and we're all in poverty. He is literally everything that is wrong with America, and people are going to vote him in. It's really quite obnoxious.

Wait, I think I remember from the last time if I remove an option the poll resets itself so you can just recast your vote.
I will not delete Ben Carson if he drops out.

I'm not American but it pains me to see a party trying to sabotage a candidate that the people are voting for.
Trump is not an ideal candidate but it's quite obvious people are desperate for a change and they don't see it in any of the other options.

Except Trump flip-flops and equivocates, just like any other politician. The essential difference is that he
seems honest when he shoots off his mouth in the style of Network's Howard Beale.
For some inexplicable reason, the blatant hypocrisy and dishonesty never sticks. People just seem to like him.

This Republican nomination battle is at once fascinating and wretched. The party is coming unglued. With Trump in the lead and pulling away, the party itself is mobilizing against him. It's bizarre. And if they succeed? Cruz is in second place! For all one can say about Trump, he is at the very least a man who can exist in the same space-time continuum as the concept of pragmatism. The same cannot be said of Cruz. He is the most reviled man in the senate, especially by members of his own party! Why? Because while the rest will threaten Armageddon as a negotiating tactic, Cruz will actually throw open the gates of hell and usher in the four horsemen without ever dimming that sanctimonious, true believer smile. He's the guy who can reduce the earth to a blackened cinder, ever certain of his absolute rightness. He is one scary mofo.

Doesn't really matter to anyone but pundits does it.
President doesn't really do much because anything controversial gets bogged down in the parliament, and the various representatives just seem to be hell bent on a bit of pork barreling and bickering.
Which on the whole is probably a good thing since it guarantees stability in that tomorrow will be pretty much like today

If the Republicans hold onto congress and the senate, a fairly likely outcome, a Republican president would pretty much have carte blanche. (Just to deepen the Cruz nightmare scenario!)

That Kasich Guy was the only one in last Thursday night's debate that actually addressed the questions asked, answered them intelligently and seems not bound to the idiocy on the platform beside him. Maybe if he wins Ohio he can gain momentum and win Pennsylvania and some other states. That seems to be his strategy for now anyway.

And if Britain pulls out of the European Union, Cameron will almost certainly step down and be succeeded by Boris Johnson. Just imagine Trump and Johnson as leaders. Bad-haired, over-privileged, dingbat gobshites ruling both sides of the Atlantic.

only, in the UK the PM can use the Queen's prerogative power to make law on a whim without any recourse to parliament....
..... so, fcuk, Johnson could make a real mess, on the other hand, he's completely useless as his time as london mayor shows so maybe on the whole, he'll just bumble about like a fcukwit and not manage to do anything

I agree. I think the GOP's plan is to have ONE candidate to run against Trump and take him out. It could very easily be Kasich because the only thing worse than Trump would be either Cruz or Rubio. Neither one of them will do it.
I have a feeling the Trump ride might be in for some bumpy roads. He's already starting to flip flop because he's trying to get the GOP behind him (which might pay off but doubtful), he's coming under fire more than ever by other groups besides the media for his ridiculous statements including his views on the trade deficit, his Trump university lawsuit, etc.. and like you said, Kasich was making sense at the last debate so he could be the dark horse.

People are desperate for a change, Trump isn't change. Trump is basically the idol of everything American's
want changed. He's the poster boy of big business 1% aristocracy. He throws off selfish, racist and sexist comments as afterthoughts and displays no indication that he doesn't
actually believe these things. He's a self righteous amoral asshat whose never been told he's a moron because his board of trustees are definable yes men who want nothing but to please the man who signs the paychecks since anyone who ever pointed out one of his many many flaws would no doubt find their paychecks imperiled. He's been in and out of bankruptcy, he is dishonest, he is disloyal, and thanks to America's thirty second media attention span its all been forgotten and we might actually ELECT him into office to prove our own impressive collective ability to be even stupider than he is.
The average person voting for him is doing it because they either run businesses or plan to. The average nonpolitical voting for him is doing it because Trump used to say 'You're Fired' on TV and they giggled every time, but no one... NO ONE in America is voting for Trump because they think it will change something. Trump is a single step from an Objectivist in the white house, he IS the status quo, he is the opposite of change, and I only WISH the reasons the republican party doesn't actually want him as their runner were for these good reasons, as it stands, I'd take literally anyone of the other candidates ahead of him.
I'd take Hillary frigging Clinton, and I'd sworn I would never vote Clinton again. Congratulations universe for finding new and inventive ways to make me make a hypocritical ass of myself.

Over the last two decades or so, elections in my country have always meant choosing between either politicians that are corrupt all the way down to the marrow or populist morons like this Trump fellow. ViridianIV made an excellent description of the character up above.
Not that it would be my business in any way if and for whom Americans decide to vote for, but just don't fool yourselves with ideals of "change"

. There is no such thing.

Yes you chaps haven't exactly got the cream of the crop to choose from.
5 of the first 7 US presidents had Welsh connections, so I see you as a bit of a Welsh colony, so I like to see you guys do alright.
Not much of a choice though, a liar or a nutcase. Put forward a novelty 3rd candidate, like a skateboarding hamster*, and watch people flock to his banner. You can call him 'Taffy'.
*Preferably a Welsh skateboarding hamster to tap in to your original roots.

Let's not get drawn down the slippery slope of false equivalencies. Clinton may be arrogant and secretive and economical with the truth at times, but Trump is a whole other level of unacceptable. Well over 100 high level Republicans have come out against Trump, and a large group of Republican national security specialists wrote an open letter warning against Trump. That's completely unprecedented. The man proves himself unworthy of the job on a daily basis.

Even if people give him a free pass for inciting violence, advocating war crimes, outright racism, climate change denial, spreading anti-vaccination hysteria, mocking disabled people and coming up with insane schemes that would destroy the global economy, surely people must see the danger of a nutjub who doesn't give a shit if the food peasants eat is poisonous?

Trump supporters, dont take this the wrong way but...
Have you ever thought of the parallel between Trump and Lex Luthor running for president?
Can you not see (fictional) story that he's defeated subdued and taken various Superheroines in the past and made them his trophy wives in their secret identity? I did mention to someone that this concept would have made for fun fiction, but i have no talent for writing so it was just amusing whimsy between friends.
I can see him making it to the oval office, and having his feet up on the desk, and reading a copy of Superman, to see what his personal Idol Lex Luthor was doing to inspire him for his next move.
Next odd political whimsy, religious fanatics please dont take offense but...
Right about now, according to some sources... the second coming of christ was suppose to be happening around this century or there abouts, but before his coming the anti christ (the devil) is suppose to arrive first and feign being the savior of humanity while leading them to ruin?
Any way... you gotta look at the choices in the election and wonder which one fills that role (the devil) better, and really for me, it's a tough call.
Right, anyway, these are just personal political musing i've made, dont take them too seriously, i dont.

Yes its a smart idea. Due to the FDA it costs over $500 mil a drug to get one drug through the process. This means ONLY the big companies can produce product. massive over regulation is a tool of corporate cronyism to keep competition out of the market. It could take years and millions before you see a drug and that process doesn't guarantee safety. And there are plenty of historical examples of FDA approved drugs being bad.
This doesn't mean eliminate safety and testing. It means getting a bloated, protectionist system out of the way of progress.
The FDA does not keep you safe. It keeps large corporations in place and keeps out competition locally and foreign.

1. The FDA is a long way from a perfect regulator
2. Barriers to entry do tend to favour large incumbents
However, it is not just big compaines producing drugs, indeed the model has changed to mirror what has happened in the oil sector, in that, what often happens is that a smaller co with venture capital funding or secondary exchange (i.e. London's AIM) will develop a drug to early stage viability and then a large multi national will make a bid for either the product, a portfolio of products or a take over of the whole co.
Shareholders don't really want big cos gambling with their profits by starting from scratch so they prefer this model, hence why it is becoming more popular.
Let's also be honest here, nobody is making late stage oncology drugs in their mum's basement, you do need a significant operation to be doing this.

Who does the testing, then? Do you just trust businesses to police themselves?
Look at some of the FDA recalls in recent months:
http://www.fda.gov/Safety/Recalls/
Salmonella in eggs, undeclared nuts, peanuts, shellfish, wheat and milk in various food products, Listeria in ice cream and cheese, elevated levels of LEAD in herbal supplement pills...
But hey, if you survive the poisoning, you can vow never to use that business again. So it will all sort itself out.
Also, let's remember that Trump spreads the utterly debunked lie that MMR causes autism. So no amount of scientific evidence to the contrary will dislodge that idea from his mind.
Of course, we're talking about an ill-informed manchild who thinks climate change is a Chinese hoax, DNA evidence (from the actual culprit) should never have cleared the Central Park Five and he even believes Bleachbit cleaning software contains actual bleach.
The guy is staggeringly ignorant. He isn't talking about reducing red tape, but rather about abolishing regulation in several areas where public safety needs to be protected.

No, but seriously, I have been working indirectly for the Clinton campaign for the past month. In honor of my mother, I would like to see a woman become president less than 30 days after the Superman character (on the Supergirl season premiere) utters the phrase "the President herself".
Of course we all know it's an allusion to the appearance of Lynda Carter, but how awesome is that in conjunction with this election?

I wonder if the tech giants are doing any manipulation in this race, it's something like 60 likes on facebook for them to know you better than co workers, they can pick out floating voters pretty easily and flash the ads that they like to tip the scale, of course doing that would create outrage, but if you had the Trump/Hilton lever wouldn't you be tempted to pull it?
