Supergirl vs The Snake Cult

Linda was sitting in the middle of the quad on a sunny summer day reading, when she gets a call from Lois. "Linda have you heard from Lana?" "No, but she did say where she was going was very remote." offered Linda. "Well she was to check in at least once a week using her sat phone and I have not heard from her in 10 days! I am worried for her." "Lois if I hear from her I will let you know." "Thanks Linda. I was already worried, her going alone to investigate that snake cult." "I know Lois, she said she would not venture to the actual cult but interview people in the surrounding villages." "Well she is very impetuous sometimes." Linda laughed a little at that "Like someone else I know!"
Linda hung up the phone and thought, 'mmm this sounds like something Supergirl will have to go and check out.'
Not an hour later, the blonde 'stood' 10,000 feet over the Amazon jungle her short skirt and bright red cape fluttering in the high altitude winds as she scanned the surrounding villages. It did not take her long to find the hut where Lana was apparently staying. Next to a mat on the dirt floor she saw her purse with the phone in it.
Supergirl zipped down just outside the village and covered her uniform with tan khaki pants, shirt and her Linda brunet wig and glasses. She walked into the village and stopped outside the front door of the hut, which consisted of sticks held together with vines. "Hello?" she said to the lady she could 'see' inside. The door opened as the native woman greeted Linda. "Miss, I am Linda a friend of Lana. I was wondering if you know where she is?" "No I don't. When I heard you walking up I was hoping you were Lana." she said. "When was the last time you saw her?" "I haven't seen her in four days, and she did not tell me she was going anywhere. She had been very good about letting me know when and where she was going somewhere." Linda thought for a moment. "Is there anyone else that may know anything?" "She spent some time with the village elder. She used to be part of that cult Lana was writing about."
Linda walked up to the large hut that was set away from the rest of the village near the edge of the forest. "Come in" Linda heard as she approached. Poking her head in she smiled. "I am Linda a friend of Lana. I was told you may know of where she may have gone."
The old lady was sitting with her back to Linda on a mat, as she tossed small bone fragments into a large ornate bowl in front of her. "nnnn that is strange?" The old lady said as she stared at bones. Turning around she looked at Linda with curiosity. She slowly stood up, her frail body never completely coming straight. Linda could see her face and right arm was painted with green, yellow and red. "Come here girl" she said with a kind voice. Linda approached stopping when the lady reached with her hand touching Linda's arm. Keeping her hand on Linda's arm she walked around behind her, her hand slipping off her arm to her back. Linda stood still as she wondered what this lady was doing. "Is there something wrong?" Linda asked. "Oh no, it is just I have never sensed such strong mana from anyone. Your friend Lana’s mana was very strong too, but not nearly as strong as yours." Linda turned around as the woman was now holding both hands up very close to Linda's shoulders. Slowly her hands moved away, her eyes closed as she nodded her head. "Yes, you have great power. Are you a priestess?" Linda looked at her "Oh no I am a student." "You could be a great priestess, with such strong mana you could commune with the neither world."
Linda just stared at her not knowing what to say. "Please come and sit" The lady sat back down onto her mat as Linda sat across from her. "Your friend was very interested in what she called the snake cult." The old lady again threw the bones in the bowl. The bones landed exactly the same way as before. The old lady looked at Linda. "I have only seen this a few times in my life young lady. Please listen to me. You must leave, you are in great danger!" Linda looked at the old lady. "Me? How?" "I do not know, but the spirits are warning that you are going to die if you stay here." The lady looked at Linda pleadingly. "The two times I have seen this, and the person that did not heed the warning they were dead within a day!" "I appreciate your concern, but I am here to find my friend. Can you tell me where I may look for her?" The lady's head sank in sadness as she knew this young lady would not heed her warning. "The cult will be having a sacred ceremony tonight. It is a special night for them, as the full moon coincides with the winter solstice. It is a night where great power is manifested. Your friend was very interested, perhaps she is trying to witness it?" "Where will this ceremony be conducted?" "I do not know, only the thirteen priests and priestesses know. The ceremony will begin two hours before the moon is at its peak." Linda thanked the lady and left.
Walking into the dense forest Linda removed her alter ego disguise and blasted straight up faster than the eye could see till she again was high over the Amazon scanning for her friend. She waited as the sun set over the horizon, 'still no sign of Lana or the cult' she thought. She was beginning to worry that the cult was somewhere else. 'How else could she find her friend?"
