I think this is a really great idea and thank you for doing it. My question would be do you have any control over how many posts can be shown? the main body is long so you could add more than 5 and if its longer than 5 people who post a lot wont dominate the section.
If there is a chance I would gladly love to see more than 5

Good idea, KoG. Aside from the main advantage of having more than five posts, it will also put the sidebar to better use. At the moment, after you scroll down a little, a quarter of the screen is just a blank charcoal space. It would be nice to have some content there.

After the 10 (or however many) recent posts, would it be possible to fill the rest of the blank space with links to the blog pages? It could be an effective way to get more producers to use the new format.

@Heroine Addict Good idea. I am adding the front page to a new menu system on the forum. Right now the Home/blog page and Gallery are missing.

What's your timing expectation of when the latest topics sidebar will be done, MH? Having to search for who has posted what and where and when is less than fun.

I second this.

I got a very helpful note from thescribbler by PM informing me that you can see the latest posts by going to the "Quick Links" button on the upper left of the screen and clicking on that and then on "New Posts" in the list to see what the latest posts are. Who knew? Thanks, Scribs, that makes things way easier. Still would like to see the side panel of latest topics but that's a good interim solution.

I haven't had time to work on it, but I will try to get on it this week.

Ok I took a first stab at putting recent topics on the sidebar. Not bad.

There are some padding and spacing issues that I will fix tomorrow.

To Do:

• Add author name to the listing.
• Clicking topic title will bring you to the lastest post.

If there's anything else, let me know.

I can add more than 5 if that's what people want.

After this I will probably work on @Heroine Addict 's idea of adding blog posts.

I have an old operating system but I don't see any sidebar at all on the forum homepage.

You will only see if you you're using the dark theme.

You really should switch It's the official theme of the forum. Pretty soon I am going to force the switch and offer a lighter version of this theme for those who need it. But I am unable to maintain 3 versions of this site, unfortunately :/

There is an issue with Recent Topics only showing up on the index page, I will have to fix that later.

Work has been completed for the day on this, the only thing left is to click the title to be brought to the latest post. Do you consider that a good feature?

I consider being able to see the latest post when clicking on the title in the 'recent posts' section a good thing as long as you can get to the start of the thread when clicking on the title in the regular sub-section listings.

Ok, fixed! Clicking the topic link will now take you to the latest post.
