Batgirl vs Mirror [artwork]

Hi all.

I'm editing/ drawing a fight between Batgirl and the Villain Mirror. There is no dialogs, but feel free to sugest captions or even how this fight should continue.

Some background:
They are fighting on a back alley.
Batgirl's suit is full of shock plates, but right now some of then are damaged due to Mirror's attack.
Mirror is very strong, fast and he is described as a wrestler that is also a ninja. He have two guns but he won't use that, in his mind Batgirl should die in a bare hands fight or by falling.

This is What I did so far (I hope you enjoy)

Wow! Those are great. I had to go back and double check that you drew them. I thought they were comic scans.

Those pics are incredibly authentic. Probably the best fanart I've seen from someone who isn't an industry name.

Do you do other eras/styles too?

Nope. Right now I'm only focus on Batgirl (Gail Simone). After that match I'm planning to do a crossover between Batgirl and Michael Myers (Halloween). I read that in another forum and I love the idea.

Amazing art dude! It'd be awesome if in one of the next panels she loses her cape or a glove/boot. Npt sure how much nudity you want to do but just slowly revealing more of her body until her cowl is off and he is sitting on her belly and choking her would be hot.

Goddamn these are hot! The only thing I'd wish for are high heels on Batgirl's boots, but of course that would violate the Gail Simone 'combat practicality' aesthetic (common to all the young milkshake drinkers nowadays, I'm sure) so I'll leave it alone.

OK, I am right now sitting in a room with a friend who has worked for DC Comics as a colorist for many years (he's also an accomplished artist).
To make this even more relevant, he colored most of the 2000 run of the Cassandra Cain Batgirl, and has worked repeatedly with Gail Simone over
the years on titles such as Secret Six and Megalopolis. So that should narrow it down for you in case you want to guess. I called him over to look at your art.

He says these are really good and that you should submit them to DC. He also said you should work on your backgrounds (you don't really have any here), and that you need to be on top of your narrative arts skills in order to submit top work to DC (not everything is a fight scene or a splash panel) - you have to be able to put a story together with all the various panels that would entail. He also wonders how fast you were able to these out (because work needs to be done pretty quickly and on schedule for DC to pick you up). But in general he had very positive things to say.

So there you go: be encouraged and get to work. It would be great to have a major DC or Marvel artist who is also a member of this forum and the SHIP community (other than the venerable George Perez, of course!).

Thank you for your efforts. It's not on my plans to work with my artwork. I draw very slowly and as a hobby only. I admit, I hate work on backgrounds, but I will need to do that on my next project, I already think in something to help me out.

Just to be clear hagarb, these are collages that you have created from others existing drawings, actual comic artwork thats been published, yes? Compiling the two images or more to make Batgirl fight Mirror, correct? And you have changed backgrounds and merged the images, yes?

Yes, I started exactly that way. Then I start copycat, create my own models and I put everything together.

I did not draw all of this from scratch. I use a lot of references to draw over and I do edit images to create that artwork. I'm sorry I wasn't clear about that.

No need to apologize what you've done is still art and its a very good job because it looks just like original art. Look forward to more of your work.

Well, you have to be able to actually draw original stuff and do it fairly quickly to be able to submit work to the likes of DC, so if these are a mix of tracings and editings obviously that's not going to be possible. It's a nice combat sequence though.

Not sure about that. One of the things one notices in a lot of comics like Marvel is the use of some sort of model or puppet for drawing ie they used a shape from a 3d program like poser then traced that and added details. I used to do that from time to time. I think its a lot more common and you see it with dull comic covers where the characters are all technically correct but nothing is dynamic.

That sounds good to me, too. Just showing some slight skin between the torn material.

Anyway, here are my caption ideas:

Page 15v2

Stunned momentarily, Mirror collapsed to the alley floor. The fight hadn’t gone as easily as he expected.

Batgirl rasped heavily as she leaned against the wall trying to recoup her own senses. This guy was strong! It was time to retreat.

Regaining himself quickly, Mirror leapt to his feet ready to reengage only to see his prey trying to make her escape.

Quickly drawing her pistol out of her belt, Batgirl fires it, sending the grappling hook in a soaring arc toward the rooftop overhead. It clinks and catches and Batgirl presses the separate retract trigger, feeling her body pulled upward and away from danger.

Page 16:

The impact of a heavy weight grasping at her waist shocks the lithe beauty even as the pain causes her to release the grappling device. With a gasp, she realizes she’s falling earthbound in a failed getaway attempt. This is turning into a very bad night!

I pm'd hagarb about the possibility of that, but regrettably they aren't comfortable with images of a more mature nature. Totally respect that, even if at the same time I think it's a gosh darn shame. I bet it would have looked awesome!

Very nice, sir! Thank you very much.
About showing her skin, I think I can do that. I want avoid nudity but there is room for some slight skin between the torn material like you said.

About page 18, I will release a second version of that page to highlight some points since there is too much things going on.
Batgirl is trying to free her left arm
Mirror mixed that bearhug with some kind of stomach claw,
Batgirl using all her strenght to push Mirror's right arm away from her.

For those that have a deviantart account, I strong recommend send your captions there. I really like all the captions that story is receiving.

Absolutely love your work! Big fan. For the end I would say batgirl falls unconscious to the bearhug and goes limp in the arms of mirror. He then unmasks her before tying her up (maybe tied like arms overhead to the escape ladder in the alleyway?) with her mask off

If you want you can prob add more fighting and struggle and then do a frontal bearhug to knock out batgirl too?

Thank you, sir. I'm glad you liked, and thank you for your suggestions. There is something very nice about Mirror. He thinks his mission on Earth is to correct miracles ( they are God's mistakes in his vision), and to do that he has a list of names. Batgirl and Babs are there. Batgirl should die by falling and Barbara Gordon should go back to the wheel chair. So, if he realize Babs is Batgirl, that could change everything in that battle.

If anyone interested, for the drawings I use Photoshop (PC) and Medibang (Galaxy Tab S3).

Right now the situation is this:
  • Batgirl is hurt, her batsuit is even more damaged but she is free.
  • Mirror just received a knee in his arm and maybe that could take effect on his balace. But, on the other hand, he just realized a very weak spot on Batgirl (her ribs) and will try to take full advantage of that.

Hi all.

I would like to ask some questions and share an idea I had.

This fight will end with the next 4 releases. I don't want to make too much spoiler, but the next release will be the most brutal part of this fight and maybe will please who asked for some skin (no nude involved).

So, the questions:

1) How Batgirl could win this fight? What she will have to do to win? (Describe a scene, if possible).
2) Same question to Mirror.
3) who you would like to win?

Now, my idea.

I'm thinking about make a cover and create special editions with all those captions people made so far. So, if you made caption in every release, then there will be an entire edition with only your captions. If you made 1 or 2 captions, there will be an edition with that, but I will mix it with other captions. I think this will be a nice way to say thank you to each one that help me with this project.

What do you guys and gals think about that idea? I'm open to suggestions.

Thanks in advance.

I think for Batgirl to be victorious, it wouldn't come without a cost. I mean it seems like Mirror is the stronger fighter in this battle. I'd expect Batgirl to get pretty beat up, but then at the last minute claw it all back. Having reached the brink of the abyss, Mirror believes he's won, but doesn't realise its only been Batgirls body he's beaten not her will.

I envision Batgirl with her costume torn up, cowl ripped open so she's partially unmasked, standing over Mirrors motionless body, wiping the bloody from her face.
