Duration of videos is not a topic mention in erotica. Some of the most popular videos in the genre are the longest videos. These videos contain a large amount of content. They complete the fantasy with viewers feeling satisfied. Nearly everything that you thought could happen actually happen.

I mostly purchase videos that are 35 minutes or longer. That is plenty of time for story, peril, and sex. Sometimes peril and sex blend together. Scenes or acts within longer videos flow better. A heroine's destruction to breaking her is often more entertaining and arousing.

The best example is The Gift by Primal Fetish. We are presented with the story, our heroine experiences peril, she shamefully tries to tame a wolf-man with a blowjob, she is fucked by the wolf-man, and finally she transforms into a wolf-superheroine hybrid. The video is 45 minutes and everything flows perfectly as nothing feels rushed.

Personally speaking for myself if a video less than 35 minutes, then I am very unlikely to buy it unless it is from one of my favorite producers. I never feel satisfied with short videos. Short videos feel like they are lacking content with many missed opportunities and certain parts feel rushed. I am always wanting more but will never get it.

For example, Kendra James's Poison Ivy plants a big one on Bat Girl! looks promising, but is only 21 minutes. It lacks a lot of content in my opinion. Poison Ivy only violates Batgirl. It misses opportunities for greatness such as Batgirl could have pleasured Poison Ivy, forced kissing, and Poison Ivy could have fucked Batgirl with a strap-on.

Another example is Super Battle Passion Stone by Cory Chase, and the video is 19 minutes long. The video starts with the heroines retreating from battle. Why wasn't the conflict shown? Then, the heroines are quickly broken as soon as Evil Supergirl finds them and beats them easily. The video is clearly missing a lot of peril and story.

I don't like seeing a heroine become broken in less than a minute. Humiliation and several forced orgasms feel more rewarding than just one quick orgasm to submission. The only exceptions are aphrodisiac, pheromones, characters like Poison Ivy, and sexual simulation as the heroine's primary weakness. Those scenarios make sense for a heroine to become broken very quickly by being unable to resist sex.

Primal Fetish, SHL, and Tropic City Heroines are the most consistent studios with the length of their videos. The majority of their videos are 40 minutes or longer. I know what I am getting from them and will buy their videos even without many previews. Their durations and content are consistent.

However, most studios are not consistent. You will never know if the studio's next release will be super short or have a good duration. Kendra James may release a 40 minute video, or she may release a 15 minute video. Cory Chase is similar to Kendra James. The next video may be an hour long or it could be ten minutes. XXXtremeComiXXX is the worst studio in video length with many videos being between 10 to 15 minutes.

I have my custom scripts run between 30 to 40 minutes everytime.

It depends how you fill the video. Some studios will spend several minutes just panning up and down the heroine's body.

The John Carpenter's student school version of Dark Star was only about an hour and new material was added to make the longer theatrical version. Some of the ideas he had to stretch it out weren't worth filming and luckily were scrapped.

Kinda depends on the scenario. I tend to like longer videos comprised of multiple scenes, but I'd rather buy a 20 minute video that's mostly action than a 40 minute one that's half filler. I've ordered several customs from Cory Chase that have run around 40 minutes and consist of at least two scenes, with minimal set-up before getting into the hardcore action.

Depends. Clips4sale videos tend to be something like $1/min. I'm more likely to find value for money in something shorter that's right up my street. Long videos often either try to have a little something for everyone, or a lot of repetition. My hypothetical "perfect movie" would be pretty long.

What surprises me is how long the japanese stuff is. Do people actually sit through 2 hours of content? Or just find the bit they're in to?

Can a 5 minute SHIP movie work? A short time span limits the amount of content in a video. The story, fight scene, and peril would only have brief moments in the video. I don't think a video of such a short duration can work.

A SHIP video or any adult video with a one minute blowjob doesn't work for me. Who wants a one blowjob? Most guys want it to last as long as possible. It also looks bad on the male performer. As one director told me, a scene should never show a limp dick unless the girl gets him hard in a reasonable amount of time on camera. I've seen a few scenes with girls giving blowjobs to limp dicks for more than three minutes, and it makes the male actor look bad and unable to perform. A super quick blowjob looks just as bad.

How long a guy can last can effect a video's ratings. People will complain if the guy can't perform or the video creates that perception by being so short.

I put 30-40 minutes. But that takes into account that there is some background or story line instead of a 30 second intro and than straight sex or bondage

A five-minute SHIP video can be quite satisfying for some people -- Supergirl, kryptonite, humiliation, done -- if what turns their crank is the seeing Supergirl humiliated in the way portrayed. They bring everything else they need with them, in their mind, for $0.

Cocktail, appetizer, bread, salad, side, blue cheese crumbles, wine, dessert, and coffee is not the only way a great steak can be enjoyed. Sometimes / for some people the steak by itself is enjoyment enough, especially considering what all that other stuff costs. And not everybody needs the 20-oz porterhouse; the 8-oz filet can be enough.

And as much as I personally favor longer-form more nutritionally complete videos, or at least the output of studios that take that approach, there is something to be said for skipping to the good part: on re-watching especially, you probably make up a better version of the video in your head than the one you bought and downloaded. You mine the video ore for the fetish fuel you need and you take the wheel and drive where you need to go.

OTOH, a video that tries to be well-rounded in 20 minutes or less can be its own worst enemy, either coming off rushed or unbalanced or delivering so little of one's favorite part as to leave one filled up on bread and disappointed with dessert.

I see what you're saying and that explains why, whenever a producer makes a 40 minute video, they chop it up into 4 ten minute segments and then sell each part individually for $10 a piece on C4S to those folks who just want that particular scene. And then six weeks later they post the full video for $20 plus for those who want the full version.

Week Two: Part 2 HD wmv / then the next day its Part 2 SD / then a few days later it's Part 2 MP4
Then part 3
The Part 4
