I've been experimenting with AI upscaling.

Shelley Hack’s time on the show was kinda forgettable but she sure looks great here. Jaclyn is my favorite and she probably spent more time in leotards than any of them.

Kris was defintely the hottest of the Angels. The debate was over when she climbed out of the water in that bikini.

Cheryl Ladd spent several seasons wearing the tiniest bikinis of all the angels. She even once purposely wore a skimpy one in order to embarrass the directors into stopping that, but it didn't seem to work.

While there was implied nudity for the first season, :Angels in Chains," episode, she showed more skin in the second season, "Angels in Paradise," part 2 while at a nudist beach getting information.

Upscaled to 4k then re-encoded to a more manageable file size. Upscaling creates very large files so I have to re-encode a 2nd time with HandBrake which can shave off several GBs depending on the encoder used. The original edit is 71 MB, after upscaling it's 2.8 GB, then after re-encoding it's 1.72 GB. If change the aspect ratio from 16:9 to 4:3 and trim the resolution from 3840 × 2160 to 2886 x 2160 (which is still 4K), I can get it down to 356 MB.

Upscaling with Topaz Video AI and re-encoding with HandBrake.

Ok I need to take a break from upscaling. It puts a heavy load on my system, especially the GPU.

Yeah you need some horsepower to convert to 4K. I am looking to build a new machine to handle all the new content I need to crank out.

I've noticed more producers are finally seeing the potential for upscaling all their older material. I see Cali Logan is already offering upscaled content and has no qualms about labeling them as upscaled. I have purchased some of her older stuff that are 480p and even 360p, because I've been a fan of her work for many years. Some of my purchases are 10 and even 20 years old, which I now can upscale some of my old favorites. It may be off-putting to some consumers that material is being upscaled and resold but personally I see no problem with it. I've spoken with another producer whom I wont name at this time so he can introduce himself here. He has had a new machine built to upscale all his old material. The last time I spoke to him, he was battening down for hurricane Milton somewhere in Florida.

IMO, producers should jump on this immediately because the software to upscale to 4K is not that costly but the systems to run it are expensive. There's fast money to be made for producers who get the upscaled material out ASAP. Anyone with a high powered and fast system can do this, so it's only a matter of time before non-producers start offering upscaled material of old favorites. I would not waste time getting your upscaled material out to the public.

Yeah, I started doing it and turned some of my producer friends on to it at FetishCon this year. The problem is you really need 2 machines. One for the upscaling and one to put out new material.
Not to hijack your thread but when I first started shooting in 2004, I purchased a 3 chip camera so a lot of that footage, even though it's at 480, still has the fidelity and can be reasonably upscaled to at least 2X or more. I try not to go too high as the AI starts to get a little weird.

Luckily I still have some of the original files from some of that early content. Some of it got lost via hard drive crashes, etc. But you're right. It's a good opportunity for producers.

Oh and one other thing, Cheryl Ladd in that bikini was something else!

A 2023 Mac Pro could handle both the upscaling and act as a server depending on how much you're willing to shell out for hardware. They have really dropped in price since Apple is dropping support for Intel in favor of its own Apple silicon processors. Lots of pissed off Mac owners who paid anywhere from $6000 to $100,000 for a fire breathing, pixel eating, workstation/server now know that their machine is already obsolete. You can pickup a scratch and dent for $1200-$1500 and install a few high powered GPUs and a decent 4K monitor and you're good to go. But know that support for them is running out, so if want a future proof machine the Mac Pro is not the answer.

Ummm.... any chance you would ever consider upscaling some of the Wonder Woman TV series? (Or know if anyone else has)

^But the TV series has already been released in FHD and Blu-Ray.

If anything's on my wishlist for upscaling though, it would be The Secrets of Isis series.

Ummm.... any chance you would ever consider upscaling some of the Wonder Woman TV series? (Or know if anyone else has)

Sorry, not taking requests. I don't mind upscaling small clips but full videos take a lot time and system resources. My system isn't really set up for upscaling large files. I may in the future add another GPU dedicated for video upscaling but for now it's just a hobby. My GPU hits 170F when upscaling even with all 8 fans pulling hot air out of my system. I have all the fans set to increase as the temps increase. Under heavy load it sounds like Howard Hughes' Hercules taking off. If I were to build another machine for upscaling, I would add a liquid cooling system.

As a kid, Charlie's Angels put the seeds in my head to move to CA and see these beautiful women and landscapes. Even though I knew these girls were actresses I also knew these were the kind of women that lived in Southern CA.

thanks for the upscaled vids. Do you happen to have the scenes from the episode "Waikiki Angels" where Cheryl Ladd and Jacklyn Smith were captured and briefly bound while wearing Lifeguard swimsuits? They both looked great in that episode.

I have the lifeguard trials beach scene but I have not upscaled it.
