For those who use a Microsoft operating system

Microsoft will not be supporting 10 after Oct

Your computer if it is 7 years + may not be able to upgrade

OS 10 will still work, but will no longer be updated after the end of this month. You won't have problems until websites no longer accept access from the older operating system's browser.

I'm concerned they will intentionally mess up network connections so win11 machines won't talk to win10 machines. I already had to go through hoops to get my two machines to talk.

Sorry to hear about your problem

I am computer inept enough that my Geek Squad pays for itself

If Best Buy goes out of business , I am in real trouble

Microsoft allows users to still get support for Windows 10 up until October 2026 if you enroll in their ESU program. You must have a Microsoft account, though.

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/windows ... ty-updates
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windo ... ty-updates

And if you live in Europe (sans the UK), you get that extra 1-year support for free without enrolling in the program.

I looked into it, but computers are so inexpensive it made sense to do it now

Why do they insist on calling it that?

Because annoy the customer won't make you accept. :)

Apple between two Mac OS versions decided to reverse the direction the screen would scroll as you moved the mouse wheel. Annoying design change to mess with muscle memory.
