It was 1984. The sluggish economy had lead to massive cuts in police funding. Wide spread crime ruled the day, and the night. Particulary hard hit was the North side neighborhood of Frostbite City, Minnesota. 6 High School friends, all members of the same karate class, were sickened by the criminal takeover of their city. They wanted to take action. After seeing a TV show profiling the Guardian Angels, they attempted to join that group, but were turned down because they were not yet 18. Undeterred, they decided to form their own group and call themselves, simply, The Guardians. Because they were all from limited means, they had to make their own uniforms out of whatever they could gather. While brainstorming, they noticed that they were each wearing different colored legwarmers. That was it. They would each wear their legwarmers, pulled knee high, over their jeans. They would wear white
tennis shoes and each would wear a sweatshirt and eye mask that matched the color of their legwarmers. They were ready for action. The leader was Lisa, the Pink Guardian. She was 5 foot 5 with shoulder length, dark blond hair, green eyes and angelic features. Although sweet and soft spoken, she was very tough. 2nd in command was a Hispanic girl, Michelle, the White Guardian. Although only 5-1, she was as tough as nails. She had big brown eyes and her curly light brown hair cascaded half way down her back. Aspiring model Lori was the Sky Blue Guardian. She was 5 foot 6 with blue eyes and wavy light brown hair. Joelle was the Green Guardian, she was 5 foot 3 with brown eyes and short curly brown hair. 5 foot 2 Angela was the Yellow Guardian. She had curly blonde hair and blue eyes. Erika was the Navy Blue Guardian. She was the shortest Guardian at 4 foot eleven and also the only African-American.

The crime rate was curtailed greatly in the 1st month the Guardians were on the job. Lori and Angela stopped a mugging, Lisa and Joelle broke up a drug store robbery and Michele single handidly busted a stolen car ring. A Buzz was created across the city and even though they shunned publicity, the newspaper had a front page story. BOOM ! A copy of that paper was SLAMMED on the desk. "These girls are ruining my business," yelled a gray haired man at two younger thugs standing across from him. "It's time to get rid of them." "You want us to do a drive by, boss?", one of the thugs asked. "No, too messy, the cops and citizens will be all over us. These punks are 'superheroines', now. Just make 'em disappear. One at a time, if necessary." Little did the Guardians know that all of the criminals were controlled by the syndicate of Tough Tony Tonelli. But they would soon find out. Later that night, the Guardians were out on patrol. As usual, they were split up to cover more ground. Lori, Joelle and Angela were together, Lisa had the younger and less experienced Erika with her, and Michele, who likened herself to the Lone Ranger, was flying solo. Lisa, the Pink Guardian and Erika, in dark blue, were near the high school when they heard a faint cry for help. Around the corner they sped to find an old man on the ground and two dark clad figures running away from him. "I've been robbed", the old man said in a shaky voice. "I can't get up." "Stay with him, Erika", Lisa yelled as she started towards the punks. Erika bent down to try and attend to the man. The men had a half block head start on Lisa but she was very fast. They rounded the corner towards the parking lot and Lisa knew she had to cautiously approach the blind turn. As she turned, she was blinded by headlights. With a loud screech, a van with "Midway Dry Cleaners" written on the side, speed by with the punks inside. Meanwhile, Erika was also being blinded by headlights. An ambulance had pulled up alongside her and the injured old man. Two burly paramedics got out, one carrying a medicine bag. The other asked what had happened. Erika started to tell him but the old man spoke up. As Erika turned to listen, the other paramedic dug in his bag and produced a bottle and a white cloth. Erika didn't notice the cloth being soaked from the bottle and she certainly didn't notice the paramedic bring the cloth up around her head. But she ceratinly DID NOTICE the feel and the smell as the chloroform soaked cloth covered her nose and mouth. But there was nothing she could do to stop it. As she quickly fell in to unconsciousness, the first paramedic appeared with a stretcher and the old man, with seemingly no ill effects, arose from the ground. The tiny Dark Blue Guardian was easily layed on the stretcher, and tightly strapped to it. Lisa had now turned the corner and was headed back to the scene. But she was short on breath and could do nothing but watch from a half block away, as an old man mask was removed, revealing a young punk. She started to run faster but was too late as the ambulance turned on it's lights and sped away to an unknown destination. She started to kick herself. It was all her fault, she never should have left the young, inexperienced Erika by herself. It had happened so fast and it seemed so innocent, but now the Dark Blue Guardian was imprisoned, headed to a fate she dare not speculate on.

THUD ! Erika was startled awake as she was tossed on to a chair. 2 large thugs stood over her. Through squinted eyes, she saw she was in a small windowless room. She started to quiver as she realized her predicament. She knew she would face danger when she signed on to be one of the Guardians, but she had thought it would be more immediate danger, not the open ended helpless feeling of being held prisoner. Her wrists were quickly put together behind the chair. First they tied the two wrists together and then with another piece of rope, her wrists were connected to the chair back. Then a rope was wound around her bulky legwarmers at each ankle and then attached to the chair legs. Then a white handkercheif was produced and stuffed in Erika's mouth. It was then tied behind her head, cleave style. Tears well up in her eyes as another cloth was brought out. This was placed over her mouth and nose and tied in the back. "Double-gagged ? Why ?" thought Erika. At this point another man entered the room. He was well groomed and dresed with silver hair and a stern face. "You have to tie her tighter than that", he yelled at the two thugs. He grabbed some more rope and brought it around her chest and the chair back, attaching it to the back. He threw 2 more pieces of rope to one of the thugs. "Tie her knees, also," he shouted. He coyly smiled at Erika. "It's too bad you had to end up here", he said softly. "But you girls are ruining my business, and I have to make an example of one of you. But I tell you what", he said taking a set of keys out of his pocket. He hung the keys on a hook right by the door. "I'm a fair man, so I'm going to leave the key out of here up there, and if you can manage to get free and unlock the door, that's great for you and probably bad for me." While he said that, the thug was pulling the tops of her dark blue legwarmers just over the top of her knecaps. he then wrapped a piece of rope around each knee and then attached it to the chair legs. Erika started to struggle but she could hardly move a muscle. "Oh, and I'll take this to mail to your friends as a warning," Tonelli said, taking off Erika's dark blue eye mask. This frightened Erika, but at least she had hope, with him leaving the keys and all. If she could just wriggle free. The men started to walk out of the room, but then Tonelli stopped and turned around. "One more thing I almost forgot. See that pipe up there ?",he said pointing up on the wall in the corner of the room. As Erika looked up she saw the pipe and what appeared to be some gray liquid coming out of the end and flowing on to the floor. "That's slow drying cement coming out of there. It's going to keep flowing until the room's filled in. " All 3 men let out a sinister laugh, as Erika felt like her breath had completley left her body. "A word of advice. You'll want to get out of that chair before the cement's above your knees. Because after that, you won't have much chance." With that, the door slammed and the Dark Bue Guardian's heart raced as she realized no one knew where she was.
