GINGERLOXX VERSUS THE ROTHBERG TWINS--PART ONE
It's a sunny afternoon in River City, and Bonnie Di Salvo, 23-year-old socialite and scholar is in
her downtown loft engaging in her favorite past time-billiards. The slim, red-haired beauty made
her living not only winning 8-ball and 9-ball tournaments, but also earning fellowships and
research grants in chemistry and physics for America's top companies. She was a prodigy whom
earned her Ph.D. from Brown University when she was only 17 years old. Unfortunately, there
are two secrets Bonnie keeps hidden from the public.
The first emerged shortly after Bonnie had received her Doctorate from Brown; in her hometown
of Providence, her widower father was revealed to be involved in one of the biggest accounting
fraud schemes since Enron with his company, Thurmond Associates. Disgusted by what her
father done, and hounded daily by the press, Bonnie moved away to River City. Once there, she
took a vow to secretly fight crime in all forms.
Using her knowledge, she developed gadgets like an assortment of gas bombs disguised as
billiard balls to stymie enemies. Billiards became a recurring theme not only because of her
adroitness in the sport, but because it was the one thing she felt connect her with her father
whom once was a one-time billiard champion himself. She quickly became skilled in several
forms of martial arts such as Karate, Jujitsu, and Tae Kwon Doe to name a few. The key to her
arsenal is an opaque footed body stocking of Bonnie's own design made with a synthetic nylon
polymer that is bulletproof, tear-resistant, and triples her strength, speed and stamina. The suit
is decorated with a red "G" on the front--much like Green Bay Packers' logo, and comes with
matching red anti-gravity boots that allow her to fly and scale tall buildings without the aide of
grappling hooks or other climbing apparatus, and a red eye mask. When she dons this costume
Bonnie Di Salvo becomes the Redhead Renegade of River City known as Gingerloxx! Nightly,
as she rides on her red Suzuki motorcycle, Gingerloxx patrols the streets of River City righting
wrongs, and protecting the innocent.
But on this warm afternoon, she embraces her first love, leaning forward on the right side of the
pool table, sizing up a difficult shot, but one she had made dozens of times before--a nine-ten
combination with a multiple bank shot. Bonnie was dressed in her home alone lounging attire--a
pair of white tights, a blue short sleeve leotard, and one of her father's old pink oxford shirts
(two sizes too big and left unbuttoned). One of her University of North Carolina blue clogs
gradually begins sliding off her tights-clad foot as leans further forward and balances herself into
the appropriate stance to make the shot. Suddenly, the Loxx Box--a loud buzz--sounded.
Bonnie clog dropped to the floor, and her cue on the table--nearly breaking it--after hearing the
sudden alarm. There was no time to waste. Duty Called.
Bonnie slipped back on her lost clog and rushed over to a bust of Minnesota Fats. Upon turning
the Fats' head at a 90-degree angle, a bare wall in the apartment turns over to reveal a secret
freight elevator to the basement garage. In the basement lies Gingerloxx's crime lab complete
with three changes of costume, the neatly arranged weaponry, Ginger's motorcycle, forensic
equipment, and the whole nine yeards. In a flash, Gingerloxx suited up and with the help of the
built-in radar sped to the scene of the crime.
"What seems to be the trouble?" Ginger asked a swat team member as she pulled up in front of
the River City Savings Bank. A flock of various police units had blocked off the area
surrounding the bank. Television news cameras had congregated outside the perimeter trying to
get live interviews with passers-by, shocked escapees, and policeman.
"Gingerloxx!" he exclaimed. "Thank God, you're here! A couple of magicians are holed up inside
the bank vault."
"So why can't you just go in and get them?"
"That's just it. They got unheard of powers. It's like they know ever single move we were gonna
make before were gonna make it."
"That sound like more of an inside job to me."
"We did too, Gingerloxx," an FBI agent interrupted as he flashed his badge, "Eldrick Coleman,
FBI, until we saw them performing the strangest tricks. All they had to do was just look at us
and guns started flying out of our hands. The shoved all the furniture in front of the doors and
blocked us out without even touching it. I only thought people like that only existed in Stephen
King books."
"You mean to tell me they're tele-kenetic?" Ginger asked.
"Please tell us you can handle these two," Coleman pleaded.
"Who are they?"
"Remember when I said we thought it was an inside job? Well, the girl has been identified as
Sylvia Rothberg, a teller at the bank. She has no priors and is a graduating senior on the dean's
list at RCU," Coleman said, opening a file folder with a picture of a nice-looking blonde about
Ginger's--maybe a little younger. "We've been interviewing her co-workers all morning and
found nothing to remotely suggest that she would be involved with anything like this. But when
we realized who her twin brother was, we realized who we were dealing with. Sylvester Rothberg
a.k.a. Mentro the Magician is wanted in four states for using his tele-kenetic powers for bank
robbery, kidnapping, extortion, the list goes on," Coleman said, after handing Ginger a second
file.
"So, you think he looked up Sis for a little family bonding?"
"Yep."
It looks like Ginger has her work cut out for her this time. How will she take on this latest challenge. Find out on Part 2 of our adventure...
