Tales of Supergirl, Last Daughter of Krypton featuring, Wonder Woman.
NOTE: This story combines elements of the WW episode ‘Fausta, the Nazi Wonder Woman’ and ‘Wonder Woman Meets Baroness Von Gunther’. Since I did take some lines straight from those episodes, it’s best to acknowledge the writers; Bruce Shelly and David Ketchum for Fausta, and Margaret Armen for the Baroness.
Faster than a speeding bullet, more powerful then a locomotive and able to soar across the sky like a bird Supergirl has dedicated her life to fighting for truth, justice, and our planet. Sole survivor of her home world Supergirl poses as mild mannered secretary Linda Kent…
She is as beautiful as Aphrodite, posses the wisdom of Athena, swifter than Mercury, and stronger than Hercules. Princess Diana has come to Man’s world to bring Amazon ideals of love, peace, and equality to a world torn by the hatred of men as Wonder Woman…
These two champions of justice star in,
Fausta the Nazi Superwoman
Colonel Kesselman was a busy man. The Third Reich was fighting on multiple fronts for its very existence yet here he was about to watch a pointless presentation. Yet Fausta Grables had orders from the Fuhrer himself. Combined with the fact she was a favorite of Hitler’s meant he had to listen to her. Of course that didn’t mean he had to like it.
“I do hope this is important Fausta.” He remarked with distain.
Standing next to his desk as the staff set up the film projector was Fausta. She was a tall athletic woman. Her blonde hair could have gone down to her neck and shoulders, but she had it in a braid going around her head. Deep blue eyes combined with her wonderful physique made Fausta a prefect example of the ‘Master Race’. Kesselman was happy she didn’t wear a uniform; it was insulting enough that this former Olympic athlete had more prestige with Hitler than him. Instead she wore a blouse and skirt with a Nazi armband. Though Kesselman was annoyed with Fausta, that didn’t stop him from admiring her long nylon covered legs when she entered his office.
Fausta looked at the stiff standoffish Colonel. Typical man, she thought. Although she served the Reich without question, Fausta was constantly annoyed that the men of the military and Nazi Party viewed her as nothing but a simple fraulein playing spy. Had she not preformed excellently in Norway, France, and even Africa? No matter, when I succeed in my latest mission Kesselman and all the others will be nothing compared to me, Fausta knew.
“It is of utmost importance Colonel. I assume you know of our recent difficulties in America?” she began.
He nodded, “Yes. Spy rings being rounded up, our sabotage efforts stopped. Many of our best agents captured.” His department had no good answers for the sudden bad luck.
“Not to mention the lost of several U-Boats.” Fausta added.
“It is war Fausta; of course we’ll take losses.” Kesselman snorted, foolish woman.
Fausta saw that the projector and screen were ready. She nodded to the staff to turn off the lights as they left. Then she walked over to the projector. With the flip of a switch she began the movie, “This was captured in North Africa. It is being shown in America and Britain according to POWs.” She explained.
Kesselman sighed as the droning American newsman of the film began talking. Both Fausta and he spoke prefect English so they required no translation. First he decided that Fausta was wasting him time as he predicted. Then he saw the footage from Metropolis. The reporter went on, “Supergirl appeared last month at a War Bonds rally. The Girl of Steel demonstrated her amazing powers to a crowd of eager hardworking factory workers.”
The German Colonel watched in stunned disbelief as a young woman wearing a tight revealing outfit lifted an artillery piece with a single hand! Next she calmly walked through a torrent of flames without harm. Finally and most shocking, she lifted off the ground and flew like a Messerschmitt!
“Impossible.” He declared, “It’s an American trick, one of their useless Hollywood productions!”
Fausta shook her head, “Hardly Colonel, watch.”
Kesselman now saw something even worse, the movie told of Supergirl’s continued efforts to aid the United States Navy. They were showed a naval base. Waiting was a ring of soldiers and sailors. Suddenly out of the sky appeared a large object. Kesselman’s jaw dropped when it came into clear view. A U-Boat held aloft by this ‘Supergirl’. She set the submarine down on the ground. He sunk in his seat as he watched the crew of the U-Boat taken prisoner by the waiting U.S. soldiers.
“Enough!” Kesselman commanded. Fausta stopped the projector and waited for the Colonel to speak, “We are sure that was one of ours?”
“Yes the naval command confirmed it, U-571. She was reported lost shortly before this film was made. It is all true Colonel, this Supergirl is real.” Fausta said the last part with a bit of glee. She was entranced by display of power.
Kesselman shook his head, “If this true we must do something. She could wipe out our entire submarine fleet. What if she came to Britain?” He began having visions of the incredible woman knocking bombers and fighters out of the sky. What is to keep her from dropping right into Berlin? Kesselman wondered.
“What if ‘they’ came to Europe is the question Colonel.” Fausta replied. She was restarting the movie. Kesselman was confused.
“Fausta what are you talking about what do you mean ‘they’?”
She smiled. Restarting the film the woman waited a few minutes then the Colonel was shown the other threat to Germany, Wonder Woman.
…………………..
Kesselman sat with Fausta still coming to grips with everything he had seen. First there was this Supergirl then another uberfraulein, Wonder Woman. She seemed just as powerful. The film he watched showed her easily deflecting bullets with a pair of bracelets, faster then any human should be able to move. Plus she had incredible strength as well, lifting a Jeep into the air at a War Bond rally. The newsreel had also given him the information that these women were the reason for Nazi Germany’s failures inside America.
“Wonder Woman and Supergirl are a threat Colonel, one the Fuhrer has demanded be dealt with.” Fausta informed him.
So that was it. Fausta must have heard these rumors and used her privileged status to share these tales with Hitler. He had always been fascinated by the fanciful, Kesselman knew, it had probably been easy to get his approval for what Fausta had planned, “So what has he ordered?”
Fausta reached into her briefcase and removed a brown binder. There were two one for each of them. Kesselman took it and read the cover: OPERATION FRAULEINS: SUPERGIRL & WONDER WOMAN. Opening it he read the summary, “You are serious?”
“That is right Colonel, the Fuhrer has given me the honor and pleasure to capture Wonder Woman and Supergirl, and then bring them back to the Reich for study. Then we will make their powers ours.” Fausta proudly boasted. To think of what I could do with Supergirl’s flight or Wonder Woman’s speed, the spy thought.
Kesselman was less infused, “Fausta how do you plan to do that? From what you showed me Wonder Woman and Supergirl are powerful. How do you intend to find them and subdue them?”
“I already have a plan all I need is for you to get me into the United States safely.” She intentionally didn’t provide him with details since she hadn’t work all them out herself.
“My department is pressed we are already quite busy…” Kesselman began.
Fausta stood and simply said, “Well we could always take this up with the Fuhrer.”
Kesselman cursed to himself. He would not win that fight, he had to give the woman what she wanted, “Fine, I’ll have transport ready for you tomorrow.”
“Thank you Colonel.” Fausta turned and left the office. She was completely confident in her ability to defeat and capture the two superwomen. Wonder Woman would be the first part of her plan. In fact she already knew the prefect way to lure her target to her. The still undiscovered spy-ring in Washington had found someone who had a connection to Wonder Woman, Major Steve Trevor.
Metropolis
“Linda! Linda!”
Linda Kent turned to see a rushing Lois Lane coming. The reporter was running all over the bullpen as she always did before a deadline, “Lois, what is it?”
“My notes on that black market ring that Supergirl broke up yesterday, have you seen them?” the frantic reporter pleaded.
“Yeah, they’re on my desk. You asked me to put them there two hours ago so you didn’t lose them.” Linda smirked.
Lois frowned then chuckled, “Thanks Linda, where are you going?”
Linda was finished putting her coat on, “Going to grab a quick bite to eat real fast and meet a friend of mine.” Lois of course was already leaving. She offered a quick ‘have fun’ before she jumped back behind her desk and started pounding away at her typewriter.
The secretary shook her head and told the Chief that she was stepping out for a half-hour. Perry gave her the A-Okay and returned to his own work. Linda nodded and headed for the elevators. Going down she recalled the incident Lois mentioned fondly. Mobsters had been running a lucrative black market at the city’s and Army’s expense. Fake ration stickers, illegal gasoline, even military weapons were being stolen and then sold, till she had stopped them. Linda AKA Supergirl was doing her own part for the American war effort.
Supergirl had been busy ever since the sneak attack at Pearl Harbor. Pledging to President Roosevelt to help out with in reason she began to make the U.S. safe from German and Japanese attacks and sabotage. Her latest efforts involved the hunting and removal of German U-Boats from the Atlantic. However she would not sink them as the Navy originally wanted. Supergirl had taken a lot of public relations flak for it, but she refused to kill anyone, even if they were the enemy. Luckily the Navy got over its disappointment fast. With each captured U-Boat they got tons of intelligence and technical secrets.
Tonight though, she was staying home. It was important to Linda that she maintained her presence in the city she loved and swore to protect. Plus it gave her a chance to meet and catch up with recent but already good friend.
It was a short walk from the Daily Planet to the diner she had agreed to meet her friend at. Once inside she didn’t need her X-Ray vision to spot her friend. Heading over to the booth she had grabbed Linda smiled and called out, “Yeoman Prince.”
A woman wearing a naval uniform with black glasses got up and hugged the blonde secretary. Yeoman Diana Prince smiled, “Linda Kent its good to see you too.”
“Yes we haven’t seen each other for what?” Linda asked sarcastically as they sat down.
Diana answered, “Oh it’s been weeks hasn’t it.” She winked at Linda.
In reality Linda and Diana had just seen each other the night before at the black marketers’ hideout. Except then they had been Supergirl and Wonder Woman. Just as Linda Kent was Supergirl’s secret identity, Yeoman Prince was Princess Diana’s. The two superheroines had met for the first time when both had shown up to stop the same group of Nazi saboteurs. Together the two had stopped the demolition of a Liberty Ship construction yard. It wasn’t long before the War Department thought it would be a great idea to have both of America’s ladies of liberty together for rallies.
Between that and joint adventures against the Axis plus regular crime, the two women had become good friends. Linda was excited to have another person with similar abilities around. Someone who she could share experiences with and not have to keep secrets from (Finally. Before Linda just had her parents). For Diana, Linda had given her some insights into ‘Man’s World’. Plus it had been rewarding to know there was another strong woman who was inspiring people beside herself. Plus like Linda, it was nice to have someone to share their experiences with.
As they ordered and ate the two talked about everything they could in public. Both of them enjoyed the chance to sit back and forget the pressures of crime fighting and the war. Shortly after they finished eating Linda looked at her watch, “I have to get going.”
“So do I. Steve is probably waiting for me at the airport, we’re heading back to Washington for awhile.” Diana said.
“A shame we’ll probably not see each other for awhile, outside our night jobs of course.” Linda replied. The ladies stood up and put their coats on. Paying their bill they walked out and paused for a minute outside the dinner.
Keeping her voice quiet, “So anything I should know about war wise?” Linda asked. If there were any German plans afoot it would be good to have a heads up.
Diana shook her head, “No things are quiet for the moment. All I have on my plate is Steve’s paperwork and my war rallies.” She told Linda about an upcoming one.
“One for federal employees eh? Stingy people if I recall.” Linda joked.
“No secretaries are even more penny pinchers as I’ve learned.” Diana countered. They both laughed. Linda gave Diana a final hug and the two parted ways.
One week later, Washington D.C.
Fausta was pleased with the progress so far. The covert insertion into the United States had gone smoothly. She had made contact with a small unbroken spy group in Washington D.C. and they got a base of operations. It was an old mansion owned by a Nazi sympathizer. From there Fausta worked on finalizing her plan to capture America’s superheroines.
As she had learned in the war, simplicity guaranteed success. Tonight she would sneak into the War Department disguised as an ordinary maid. Then once she found Major Trevor she would gas and kidnap him. Fausta knew the Major would not be missed till later that morning leaving plenty of time to set her trap. Once they were ready she would phone Trevor’s assistant and report that she had found a note. Trevor wrote the note for Wonder Woman. The location Fausta passed on would be the site of her ambush, a warehouse. Wonder Woman would come running to save him only to be captured by Fausta’s men. It was a fool proof plan. However her plan was so far only covered Wonder Woman.
Supergirl was proving, as the Americans said, ‘a tougher nut to crack’. Fausta had spent nearly a day reading everything she could on this Girl of Steel. It was known that she operated out of Metropolis but Fausta knew that traveling long distances inside America was dangerous. The more she and her men moved around the chances of them being discovered by the FBI or Police rose sharply. There would also be no time to waste after Wonder Woman was her prisoner. The more she thought about it, Fausta decided she needed to bring Supergirl to her, but how?
“Fraulein Grables, we are ready to head to the War Department.” One of her men reported.
She nodded, “Very well.” Fausta was already dressed for the part toning down her natural beauty into that of a late night maid, “Let’s proceed.”
…………………….
By the next day the confidence Fausta felt over her ‘foolproof’ plan had turned into frustration. Kidnapping Trevor had gone exactly as planned. Then her phone call to his assistant, a Yeoman Prince worked as well. Finally Wonder Woman had shown up. Fausta was nearly dumbstruck seeing her with her own eyes. Tall and athletic she seemed to exude power and strength. Her black raven hair fell to her shoulders and her face was that of a starlet. She was so powerful that Fausta could look past her blatant American costume; Red bustier with a golden eagle, a star spangled blue swimsuit bottom, tanned shinny tights (of satin perhaps?) over her toned legs with red and white boots. Wonder Woman even had a golden belt to go with the metal bracelets and the tiara Fausta had seen on film.
This woman who had fascinated Fausta’s mind was now using all her abilities to completely defeat the men Fausta had ordered to capture Wonder Woman. With ease the superheroine beat each of them. Two were thrown like dolls across the room. One man was left standing. Fausta watched as he was caught, in of all things, a golden lasso! What happened next though grabbed her attention. The man told Wonder Woman everything he wanted including the location of Major Trevor. When he was done she released him.
“He is the bravest man I know.” The agent next to her answered shocked by what had happened, “The lasso must have great power.”
Fausta thought about that out loud, “The power to force him to tell the truth?” She speculated about that as Wonder Woman freed Trevor and then left with the American officer. Fausta and her man walked from their hiding spot into the open. She knew they should leave now before the police came.
“Fraulein Grables! Fraulein Grabes!” it was the man Wonder Woman had lassoed he had returned.
“Yes Muller.” She calmly waited for him to speak, hiding her anger.
“It was incredible; I had to tell her truth! There was no choice for me.” Muller explained.
The other agent with Fausta grumbled, “With a weapon like that we’ll never capture Wonder Woman.”
Fausta smiled, “That golden lasso is exactly why we WILL capture her.” The men asked her to explain, “Do you remember the Maginot Line? The Fuhrer himself showed us how to take an enemy’s strength and turn it into their greatest weakness. We must use the lasso to force Wonder Woman to tell us her secrets.”
Her man asked, “But how? She knew this was a trap, Wonder Woman won’t walk into another.”
“We must present a situation that she will not be able to resist…I will dress as Wonder Woman and appear in public. She will be forced to confront the obvious imposter.” Muller asked how they could do that and if they could even control Wonder Woman when she appeared.
Fausta answered, “We must choose the site carefully somewhere she will not suspect trouble but also a place we can control. Also we put her mind elsewhere, appealing to her sense of competition.”
It was Muller’s turn to smile. He saw this now as a chance to make up for his earlier failure, “I know the prefect place. A noon time War Bond rally for federal employees. My cover is being part of the War Bond tour Fraulein. I can get us in.”
Fausta chuckled, yes this new plan will work, “Excellent. Wonder Woman can feel ‘patriotic’ as she makes her last public appearance.”
Together the Nazis headed for a hidden car before the Americans could arrive. As they drove Fausta felt renewed confidence. Except she still wasn’t sure how to capture Supergirl, Perhaps this lasso of Wonder Woman’s can help? They have met many times according to the papers. Maybe Wonder Woman will not only give me the way to defeat her, but Supergirl as well?
The next day, Washington D.C
Diana was still wondering what the whole incident with Steve had been about. Someone had obviously wanted to ambush her but didn’t count on her ability to fight her way out of it. She was sure that whoever had gone to all that trouble would try again. Checking the clock on the wall of the office, Diana saw it was just about time for her to make a public appearance. The noon rally was only a few minutes away.
She had already come up with a good excuse to explain her absence, donating blood. Neither did she need to worry about finding a good place to change into her costumed identity. Almost everyone in the department had gone to watch the rally, leaving plenty of empty offices and rooms. Diana found one overlooking the rally spot. She spotted Steve and Etta waiting for it to start. The Amazonian princess removed her false glasses and prepared to undo the bun in her hair. That’s when she saw the rally start, with another Wonder Woman!
The organizer started speaking welcoming all the employees. Everything was on stage that they had talked about, a bell she would hit to designate the day’s bond goal, a huge barbell to show off her strength to the crowd. However there had been nothing about another Wonder Woman. Probably something the Special Service people cooked up, Diana thought, it will make a good show I guess. Letting her hair fall free she began a ballet like spin in place. There was a burst of energy and light, no longer did Yeoman Prince stand in the room but Wonder Woman.
She wore her costume complete with golden belt and lasso. One small change was a golden mask. It had been something the Americans had asked her to wear at the first couple of rallies she had preformed in. As her face became more publicized she had decided to do without it. Of course the fake Wonder Woman on stage needed it. So Diana would copy it and play along. The crowd would have fun pondering which of them was real.
…………..
Fausta was excited, everything was set. Muller in his American uniform and her dressed as Wonder Woman were on stage. No one seemed to suspect she wasn’t Wonder Woman. The costume was working perfectly with the golden mask. She completed the disguise with a dark wig to cover her blonde hair. So far Fausta had entertained the crowd by just being there. Also she had played an American carnival game, where one tries to ring a bell with a large mallet. Luckily her excellent physical condition allowed Fausta to ring the bell easily, further wooing the people watching the stage.
Suddenly there was a series of confused noises from the crowd. Entering the stage was another Wonder Woman, which only the Germans knew to be the real one. Muller and Fausta exchanged a look. The thinnest smile crept onto her face; Wonder Woman has fallen for my trap! Your competitive spirit will be your undoing Wonder Woman!
Muller played up the moment, “People if I can afford to bring you two Wonder Women, surely you can afford to give twice as much from your wallets.” There was applause from the audience.
The real Wonder Woman walked over to the mallet and bell. She brought it up and hammered the device. Like a rocket the bell shot up, rang briefly before flying off into the air. A roar went up from the crowd. Wonder Woman smiled, “You know what we’re trying to tell you, the sky is the limit when it comes to bonds!”
Muller spoke again he knew it was now time to set the trap, “I bet you people are trying to decide which of these ladies is the real Wonder Woman. Let’s find out shall we.”
Fausta looked at Wonder Woman. The superheroine showed no signs that she thought there was any danger. In fact the only look on her face was one of friendly competition. Fausta waved her hand over giving permission for Wonder Woman to go first. However the heroine had her hand outstretched. Plus the expression on her face said, no by all means you first.
Knowing it would be unwise to delay any longer Fausta walked over to the barbell. This was the key to trapping Wonder Woman. Below an agent of hers waited for the right moment to release a trap door hidden in the stage. Muller had fashioned a tiny peephole so that their man could see when it was time to trigger the door. Since Fausta was also dressed as Wonder Woman, she made sure to wear something that would distinguish her from the real one. That was provided by the bright patriotic cape she wore, conveniently provided by Wonder Woman to the Special Services for use at rallies.
Beneath the stage, the Nazi agent waited. He saw that it was Fausta above him so he took his hands off the lever for the trap door. Instead he made sure that his secret weapon was ready. Pulling a clean handkerchief from his pocket, the German then opened a bottle of chloroform. Unscrewing the cap he poured a heavy amount of the liquid onto the rag. He then placed it in his hand and returned his attention to the lever.
Above, Fausta had lifted the barbell. It was heavy enough that she worried about showing that it was too heavy for her. Once again her Olympic training paid off and she lifted the bar nearly over her head and then returned it. Walking back to Muller and Wonder Woman, Fausta gestured that it was now the heroine’s turn. Diana smiled at the imposter and moved over ready to show the people her Herculean strength. Behind her Fausta’s body tensed in anticipation.
Wonder Woman now in front of the barbell grasped it in one hand. She was planning on lifting it one handed over her head, then flipping it, and balancing it in the palm of her hand. Diana was confident this display would leave the crowd in awe and with no doubt who the real Amazon Princess was.
Below the stage, the agent watched. His hands ready to yank the lever. He watched as the second Wonder Woman appeared and saw that this was the real one. Like Fausta he too was nervous, since he had to actually subdue the superheroine. She had gripped the bar and was ready to lift it. It’s now or never, he thought. The German yanked the lever and sprang into action.
Diana was ready to lift the barbell when suddenly the stage disappeared beneath her feet. Wonder Woman fell straight down through the stage. Seconds she landed. Her uncontrolled fall resulted in landing right on her back and bum. Diana was wondering what had happened when suddenly she was seized from behind. A white cloth appeared along with a hand as another arm wrapped around her waist. Together they clamped down with the rage going right on top of her face. Wonder Woman could smell something on the cloth and suddenly Diana felt strange as she inhaled. Her body became num and she couldn’t seem to move. With a sickening realization Wonder Woman knew there was drug on the cloth and it was weakening her! It was unlike anything she had experienced. I can’t move…my strength is fading…Hera help me fight it, she thought trying to summon the strength to fight back.
The German agent couldn’t believe it, Wonder Woman seemed completely subdued. He needed to act fast. Keeping the chloroform planted on the superheroine’s face with one hand, he reached for the golden lasso on her belt with the other. Grabbing it he then wrapped around Wonder Woman. He couldn’t properly restrain her so he settled for tying the lasso around her chest above Wonder Woman’s red top. Once he was the lasso secure he ripped off her mask. Now it was time to see if this lasso worked on its owner.
First he brought Wonder Woman in close. Her head ended up resting in the crook of his left arm against his chest. Pulling the chloroform cloth off her face, he made sure to keep it close as Wonder Woman gasped with its removal, “Now quick tell me, how do I make you helpless and take you prisoner?”
Wonder Woman breathed heavily. She tried to suck in clean air and recover from the horrible chemical the Nazi had used on her. But the German was clever. Only a few inches from her face was the drug soaked rag. Its fumes were still there, being inhaled with each of her labored breaths. I’m so weak, can’t stay awake, but I must answer his question.
Diana could not only feel the golden lasso on her skin but its power as well. Not even her, a goddess in all but name could fight against its effect. Her eyes were half open struggling to stay that way. In between deep breaths she was forced to answer, “…Remove…my magic belt.”
“Is that the key to your strength?” he immediately followed up.
Wonder Woman almost passed out before she answered, “Yes…away, away from my home…” she momentary closed her eyes exhausted but then finished, “on Para…Paradise Island.” She was so tried.
The German agent took all this in and asked his final question, “Will this chloroform keep you unconscious?”
He could tell she was finished. Wonder Woman’s eyes were closed her breathing slowing. In fact he almost thought he could hear surrender in the heroine’s voice as she spoke, knowing that she was helpless, “Yes…”
Wonder Woman managed to open her eyes briefly. The reward for her final answer was the gentle return of the cloth, soaked in what the Nazi had called chloroform. Diana breathed in more of the chloroform as it covered her mouth and nose again. Her eyes shut closed. The Princess could do nothing against this sinister substance as it forced her to sleep. Her body relaxed and sank deeper into the German’s grip.
The last thing she heard before completely passing out was, “Sleep peacefully Wonder Woman…”
…………….
Parked close to the stage was their getaway car. A typical American Army staff car, it would allow Fausta and her men to escape without any unnecessary attention. Fausta controlled the urge to celebrate as Wonder Woman was hauled out from underneath the stage by her men. One held her upper body as the other had the superheroine’s ankles. Carefully they began loading her into the car.
“Make sure she stays out of sight.” Fausta ordered. The agent who had chloroformed Wonder Woman under the stage approached Fausta.
“Here Fraulein Grables, she said this was the source of her powers.” He handed her the belt then the lasso. She held them amazed and delighted; now I will learn all your secrets Wonder Woman.
Fausta’s thoughts of power however were interrupted by a call, “Wonder Woman!”
She turned and saw who was coming, Major Trevor, “Damn it, Muller stop him.”
The agent nodded and went to head off Trevor as Fausta climbed into the car. Sitting down she saw that Wonder Woman remained unbound. Leaning forward she wrapped the lasso around the heroine’s wrists and bracelets. Then looking up she checked to see where Trevor was. Muller had stopped him.
“Colonel I just wanted to say hi to Wonder Woman, she saved my bacon yesterday and I just wanted to thank her.” Steve explained to the Colonel blocking his path.
Muller continued to stall, “I’m sorry Major but you will have to do so later, Wonder Woman is late for another engagement.”
“I wasn’t aware she was making another appearance.” Steve responded. He took a close look at the Colonel, the man was nervous. Then he looked over at the car Wonder Woman had climbed into. There were several people inside, none he recognized from the Special Service that normally worked with Wonder Woman.
Trevor was starting to think something was up, “Colonel where are you and Wonder Woman going? Plus I don’t recognize any of you what happened to Colonel Henderson and Jeff Irons?”
Muller knew the gig was up. Turning to the car he yelled, “GO!” and then slugged Trevor across the face. Fausta and her men didn’t need to be told twice. With a roar from the engine the car shot away from the stage. Steve recovered quicker then Muller had expected and was easily able to duck his next punch. Trevor then used his duck and landed a blow of his own. A quick jab to the fake Colonel’s gut slowed him, and then Steve followed up with a right hook. Muller went down like a ton of bricks.
Steve reached down and lifted the man up. With a shove he had the fake colonel pinned against the stage, “Alright you’re going to talk. What have you done with Wonder Woman?”
“You’re too late Trevor.” Muller answered, speaking in his German accented voice now, “Wonder Woman is a prisoner of the Reich and there is nothing you can do about it.” Steve dropped the man to the ground angry at the German and himself, damn it I should have seen through that charade.
“Major Trevor!” he heard Etta coming. She had seen his conformation between him and the other officer. Thinking on her feet Etta got some MPs and led them over. Major Trevor explained the situation to them. Muller was taken away by the MPs leaving him and Etta alone.
“What about Wonder Woman?” Etta asked concerned.
Steve thought, “They will take somewhere secluded. Except they could possibly be anywhere in Washington, even if we had every police officer and MP in the capital looking it would take too long. Those Germans will be gone with Wonder Woman as quick as they can.”
Etta worried, “So what do we do.”
Trevor thought, we can’t search the city fast enough in time, but maybe there is someone who can, “Etta we need to get back to the office. I have someone to call.”
Outside Washington D.C. that same day
Wonder Woman was just as frustrated with herself as Steve had been. She had walked right into a Nazi trap and been captured. Now she was bound, the ultimate shame for an Amazon. There was little comfort in knowing that she hadn’t been beaten in a stand up fight. I need to free myself but how? Diana wondered. Her captors had bound her with thick heavy black chains. They were wrapped around her boots, running up her pantyhosed legs to Diana’s chest. The chains pinned her arms to her sides while a final length held her forearms close together in her lap, meeting at her bracelets.
She had been left in a large well furnished study. Diana suspected she was in some sort of mansion. Wonder Woman vaguely remembered seeing the outside of the building as she was being hauled inside. However she was still recovering from the chloroform at that time so Diana couldn’t be sure. Her thoughts returned to the present when a set of doors opened behind her. Wonder Woman resisted the temptation to turn her head and stare at her captors. They may have her but she would not let them think they had unnerved her.
“Good afternoon Wonder Woman.”
Diana watched as a tall athletic blonde woman stepped into view. For a moment Wonder Woman was impressed by her. Without the ascent she might be mistaken for an Amazon, “I am Fausta Grables. You are now a my prisoner and one of the Third Reich.”
“You may have me at the moment Fausta, but I assure you, your thugs and bonds will not be able to hold me.” Wonder Woman confidently replied.
Fausta smiled, “Defiant just as I expected. You will find escape impossible Wonder Woman. No one knows where you are and you are without this.” Diana watched with dismay as Fausta displayed her belt, “It was so kind of you to inform us of this belt. Now I want to learn more.”
The woman reached into the desk in front of Wonder Woman and removed the golden lasso, “I must say Wonder Woman this is the prefect weapon for an intelligence force. Once we recreate this lasso’s ability in the Fatherland, there will be no where for the enemies of the Reich to hide.”
“That lasso was given to me to do good Fausta. If you were to use it to hunt down resistance fighters and ‘undesirables’ you would be twisting its purpose. I won’t stand for it.” Diana warned her.
“An intriguing statement Wonder Woman. I’m wondering who did give you this lasso. I would like to discuss that.” Fausta said. She walked over and wrapped the lasso around Wonder Woman. Once it was pulled tight she held onto the other end and asked, “Where are you from Wonder Woman?”
Diana would try to resist but knew it was useless, she had to try though.
