I ended up liking the GITS movie. It's quite a bit pared down from the anime, but on the other hand, it has an actual sense of closure to its ending. And they do a good job with the supporting characters, particularly Batou. Batou is awesome. It might not be the most complete and literal adaptation ...

The Orville

The Orville is Seth McFarlane's new sci fi show. It's a Star Trek clone, specifically Star Trek: The Next Generation... and it's surprisingly entertaining! The best description I can come up with is that it takes the feel of TNG, the music, the clean optimistic future, and then fills the show with c...

I really like The Orville (will start up a new thread shortly). Discovery seemed overwrought and not as fun. Though I did like Doug Jones as the alien bridge officer. Serafinowicz is channeling Adam West when he plays The Tick, but it actually works. The first six episodes that are available now constitute an extended origin story for Arthur. Re: Greatest American Hero Reboot with female lead

I have mixed reactions. Back in the day, I always thought the original GAH was kind of a weak substitute for a real superhero show. They made it a comedy because at the time, nobody could afford to do real superpowers on a tiny TV budget. And it kind of fit the Carter-era America-in-decline zeitgeis...

They've done a great job recreating the voices of the villains whose actors are no longer with us.
