Re: Helen Slater as Supergirl: An Appreciation
Helen won the poll by one vote! As I said at the time, it's a testament to her Supergirl that she beat the present Supergirl. Yeah, probably skewed here by the age demographic, but that doesn't discredit it. There's been so many live-action movies and TV featuring superheroines, but there must be something special for folk to keep coming back to this one...Supergirllegend wrote: ↑2 months ago Just a few notes, I know not all of you may like this film and prefer Melissa Benoist as Supergirl (judging by a recent poll) but I'd like to keep the conversation around this particular portrayal of Supergirl.

I misinterpreted your response. I should just keep my mouth shut and stick to posting pictures.

Re: Helen Slater as Supergirl: An Appreciation
Oh and I should have mentioned I responded to your comment upon waking up- I didn’t really take in the rest of what you said, which actually makes sense. Helen’s Supergirl has stood the test of time, I don’t really like Melissa’s interpretation but that’s also because I love the 80’s film so much. Maybe someone younger likes the series a lot more but for me it will always be the original movie and the magic Helen brought to that role. I shouldn’t have snapped at you, I apologise. I need to stop talking. I hope you are enjoying the feed so far.

That's okay. Let's get back to worshipping Helen...Supergirllegend wrote: ↑2 months ago Oh and I should have mentioned I responded to your comment upon waking up- I didn’t really take in the rest of what you said, which actually makes sense. Creating these while listening to Jerry Goldsmith's fantastic score. It fucking rocks!

Re: Helen Slater as Supergirl: An Appreciation
It's a pity the forum member "Supergirl1984" couldn't stay around, you two could have compared notes and perhaps even collaborated on something together, they were as passionate as you are about Helen Slater's portrayal of Supergirl! Sadly the photo story they were working on was abandoned part way through but who knows, they may come back to resurrect the project in the future.

My current story is Supergirl Vs The Fugitive Witch of Daxam
This is all the stuff I've done here but don't tell anyone about this!

Re: Helen Slater as Supergirl: An Appreciation
Why do I envision this as "You! Come to my bed!"?
Such fuel for fantasies!
My 2 cents.

Oh really? That’s a shame. I see there is still a lot of love for Helen’s film on this site. I think what you are doing with your story is fantastic. It’s a lot of hard work to do what you’ve done so I applaud your work:)Abductorenmadrid wrote: ↑2 months ago It's a pity the forum member "Supergirl1984" couldn't stay around, you two could have compared notes and perhaps even collaborated on something together, they were as passionate as you are about Helen Slater's portrayal of Supergirl! Not one of mine, this is a really awesome one from jjy1987. He's way better at photomanips than I ever was. Partially why I switched to 3d rendering instead. :PAbductorenmadrid wrote: ↑2 months agoI know a lot of publicity pics are here but when we have someone else's work involved we should at least try and give them credit. Here's the Supergirl in kryptonite chain. I think it could be done better.

Heh, nice - but man, that metal sphere - had to edit it out for continuity reasons and it was in a lot of shots! Don't suppose you could have that GIF run backwards ...

You’re wish is my command. Can’t do anything about the metal sphere though. If I only knew how to chromakey moving objects out of scenes i would be a wizard.Abductorenmadrid wrote: ↑2 months agoHeh, nice - but man, that metal sphere - had to edit it out for continuity reasons and it was in a lot of shots! Any chance we could get more Supergirl vs nuclear man? That is a work of art what you’ve done so far.

Re: Helen Slater as Supergirl: An Appreciation
In that GIF there is a clear moment where HS's eyes go from looking at some point near the floor to looking upwards and as I wrote it with her going in reverse it inspired me to make it a moment about Supergirl wanting to grovel at Selena's feet.
As RustedPeaces pointed out, it was not them but another artist who did the amazing Lex Luthor manip and I confess, I guess it is the same artist who had done a composite of Supergirl on the moon, merged with Ursa from Superman II (the attack on the astronauts scene). That inspired me to work out how to use Ursa in the story but they ended up on the "Nomad Planet" which had been the movie's Phantom Zone, though my stuff is not even close to the quality of JJY1987's
Nuclear man versus SG, yes please!!
And Supergirllegend, if that's really "you", Supergirl1984, then welcome back... Jabba-esque trucker guy with SG ... it's gotta be you!

Re: Helen Slater as Supergirl: An Appreciation
Ok I’m back. I didn’t like my past work and I really was in a bad place mentally back then. I respect Ms Slater, I think she is one of the most beautiful, most perfect women to ever walk this earth. Some of the stuff I posted went too far in the realm of peril/ humiliation and deep down I am not like that at all. I respect women incredibly- and I actually find sexual abuse disgusting I guess that's why that one scene has effected me in such a way. I saw it as a kid and it actually disgusted me at what Supergirl had to put up with. I think it's a truly ridiculous scene that feels like it was made to just take advantage of Helen's body. It horrified me actually- attempted rape in a kids film? That's whack. But there was something so sexy in the way Helen portrayed Supergirl that it effected my young mind and has had me dreaming of her ever since. She was so powerful in that suit and nothing could phase her. That was incredibly sexy to me.Abductorenmadrid wrote: ↑2 months ago In that GIF there is a clear moment where HS's eyes go from looking at some point near the floor to looking upwards and as I wrote it with her going in reverse it inspired me to make it a moment about Supergirl wanting to grovel at Selena's feet.
