I wish the 2005 version came out on (HD) DVD. While the story may be no better, at least it had more peril for our superheroine. And Angel did look fantastic as well. Unfortunately for us, Angel Locsin transferring to the rival network killed any chance of that ever happening.

I guess the show is not as successful as the producers had hoped (unfortunately for us). The series Darna replaced lasted more than 5 years on air daily.

There's speculation that Ding's teacher will become Ang Babaeng Manananggal. This villain already made an appearance in the 1991 movie (alter ego was a teacher also), and also in the 2005 TV Series version.

Speaking of bullets and bracelets, it does make no sense that in one episode she's impervious to bullets, then in another, she has to rely on her bracelets to deflect them. Though on the other hand, the inconsistency in power levels is not really exclusive to Darna alone.

To be honest, most of the costumes in the CW shows are totally impractical and uncomfortable for fighting. This has got to be one of the greatest paradoxes of this generation:

Women wearing revealing clothes in public = "women should be allowed wear what they're comfortable with" => GOOD

Think of the first month as the first 2 episodes of a 24 episode season. Like it or not, this show is following the traditional daily soap formula which is pretty much the norm in the Philippines.

Give it time. There's about 150+ episodes to go!

Not bad. Not as revealing as the past incarnations but they could have done much worse. The production values are great by Phil standards (they air 5 days a week) and the story thus far is ok. The animation back then was definitely much better than what we're getting nowadays. Filmation also did very well with the likes of Web Woman, Isis and She-Ra.

The animation these days leaves a lot to be desired.
