This is a story that I did some time ago. I have done writings in the past, especially about my favorites superheroine, Supergirl, but have very rarely finished any of those. This is one of the few exceptions. In any case, it is time that I contributed something to this forum, after enjoying so much of what others have shared.

This is part one of a four part story.

(Please, pardon the grammatical and editing errors)

When Vladi Met Kara

by Vladi the Wizard

Supergirl owned by DC Comics, and Warner. Vladi owned by moi... of course. This is a story about what happened when Harry met Sally.... er, I mean, when the wizard met the superheroine, that led to one of the greatest ... ahhh... love stories (yeah... that's the ticket!) in our genre! Of course, they are from two different worlds, quite literally. Of course, in the story telling I am going to use terms and words and measurements (etc) that you are all familiar with, and not what the various characters would use/say/think, as a way to make things easier for all of use "in the translation". Also, the time frame that I will be using is when I first became aware of Supergirl, which was with Adventure #400, which was published wayyyy back in 1972! (Yup, she gave birth to the pervy old wizard back when he was 11 years old!) I am also putting this in the time frame when Linda Danvers left Stanhope College and moved to San Francisco. And, of course, this is taking place upon a world not exactly our own. I hope you enjoy!

Chapter One - The Catch

"AAAAAAaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh," the man screamed as he fell. He couldn't help it. It was quite a natural sort of thing to do. One moment he was stepping through a doorway of spinning mystical energies, and the next moment he was falling into the middle of nothing but clouds. He stopped screaming as he got over his sudden start and took note of where he was. It was very hard to tell as he was surrounded by clouds, but one thing he knew was that it was cold. Very cold. Of course, being of a stock that was half elf and half human, temperature variances did not bother him the same way it would if he was of pure human stock. But, at the same time, he was more aware of the coldness, and it was bothering him more than it would if he was of pure elven stock. He took a big whiff of the air as he tumbled through the cold clear air. It was obviously during the daylight hours, but the air smelled different. It was not a world that he was accustomed to, and for that he was thankful. That meant that the spell to transport him to a new time/place/world worked!

Just when he was starting to wonder if magic worked on this world that he would soon be crashing into, he saw the clouds around him part, and the ground below him became much more apparent to him. Well, it was pretty, he decided as he examined the various trees in their many colors, upon rolling hills, covered with lush green grasses, and divided by blue flowing rivers. He wondered what the place was called, and whether there was intelligent life here that would find his dashed and broken body.

Above the clouds, a wingless goddess flew. Long blonde hair whipped behind her as she enjoyed the sun's energy as bathed within it's healing and energizing rays. The yellow sun giving her powers above and far beyond those who also lived upon this planet Earth, with the exception of her elder cousin Kal-El, who was also called Superman by the inhabitants of this world. At this altitude that she flew, there was not much oxygen to breath, and it was very cold, but neither of which bothered her, as she could fly for a very very long time while holding her breath, and temperature extremes rarely even bothered her.

While enjoying the flight it was then that she heard the strange 'popping' sound. Her super-hearing was very acute, of course, but due to the height that she was flying and the noise of the wind passing around her, she almost missed it. However, there was no missing the scream that occurred immediately after that odd, faint sound. She quickly went into a rotating hover and searched about her to determine where the screaming was coming from, but the clouds made it difficult to do so because of their sound distorting properties. And, just as she was starting to determine the direction the scream was coming from, the screaming stopped.

Supergirl immediately dove towards the ground many thousands of feet below her, wanting to get below the cloud layer as soon as possible, to find the screamer if not by sound, then at least by sight. In a flash she was under the clouds and slowed down to quickly do a scan around her to spot anything falling from the sky. Since there was no longer any screaming, she took it to mean that the person must of passed out, either from shock, or the lack of oxygen at this altitude, or a combination of both.

She then caught a movement in the corner of her eye, and her gaze whipped around, and she focused in on the moving object. It was a man. And, he had his arms and legs spread apart as he was falling, his long black hair whipping up behind him. She thought it odd for a man to fall unconscious like that when he looked over and saw her. She also thought it was odd for him to be wearing a bath robe at twenty thousand feet, but then, everything about this encounter was screaming 'odd' to her.

The wizard named Vladimier was shocked by the sight that he took in. It wasn't that it was because she was flying, because as a wizard he was used to seeing things that were normally "unexplained" to the uninitiated. And, while he wasn't one to put too much credence in the claims of gods and the supernatural since they were normally just misidentified mystical creatures, what he just observed was enough to make his heart stop for a moment or twenty. She was absolutely stunning! A goddess in the flesh in the air before him. He saw that she was a young human (he guessed) in her second decade who was wearing a rather form fitting blue dress, which had an odd symbol of gold and red on her chest. Her hands were incased in red gloves which came up to her forearms, and her extremely long legs were sheathed in brilliantly red boots which came to her mid-thigh, and a golden belt rested against sleek hips under a amazingly thin waist. What he thought was at first red wings, he soon realized as actually a red cape that flowed behind her as she floated in the air looking at him. Her long blonde hair looked like spun gold as it framed her head and face, whipped about by the wind to frame her awe inspiring beauty.

But after all that stunning beauty that she blazed about her with, the thing that really drew him to her, was her eyes. A deep azure blue which seemed to glow with a strange power deep within her. Some way, he knew that she was unique upon this world, and that she was the most beautiful creature he had seen in centuries. If ever! He wondered how she was flying, as she did not have the wings that many of the faery folk that he was accustomed to had to fly. The wizard now was more intent on studying this strange and wonderful apparition than with worrying about his physical safety, wondering now if those rumors of "angels" were actually true. It wouldn't be the first time that he had discovered things to be true which many had claimed to be myth or legend. But then, that what his purpose in life always was, he felt. To discover knowledge. Especially such knowledge that most people would think as being ridiculous or worthless. He knew that he may die (which would not be the first time, which was why he had contingency spells cast upon himself to resurrect himself in cases of death), but if he did, it would be while gazing upon utter perfection.

Kara paused a moment in mid-flight as she took in the man's amazing eyes with her super vision. They were blue, but not like hers. No, his eyes were like the ice on finds on an iceberg that has been floating and worn by the oceans currents, but that also seemed to burn with a strange fire. But the thing that really drew her to them was that the pupils seemed to be in a constant state of flux. One moment they seemed to be the normal round shape, and then the next moment they seemed to be in the shape of thin squished ovals, like a cat. The pupils were also a very deep black that seemed like molten coal, yet had a sparkling to them as if full of tiny stars that rippled along the edges of his pupils when they changed shape. It was very disconcerting to her, and the looked to the rest to him.

The falling man looked to be in his mid to late thirties, and of good shape, from what she was able to discern from the black robe that he was wearing that was fluttering about him. He was taller than average for the humans of this planet, but not remarkably so. He had long straight raven black hair that streamed as he fell, and his sharp features were smoothed with a short goatee and a neat mustache. Overall, she was a bit taken aback by the strange calm that he had about him. She found it a bit eerie, that seemed to be bordering on the edge of insanity, for a lack of a better word for her to use. A man that was falling thousands of feet to his death that wasn't screaming did seem insane (though he did scream earlier, but not now? Why not?). It had to be shock. Yes, that was it. But, the way he looked at her, with intelligence and a strange sort confidence that she cannot recall seeing before, took her aback as much as his amazing eyes did.

"Whoofffffff," he breathed out a half a heartbeat later as she had him in her arms. One moment she was many hundreds of feet away from him, and the next moment she was holding him in her arms, and he was no longer falling, but flying. She gave him a dazzling smile and said something to him, but even though it was hard to hear because of the wind whipping past them, he couldn't understand a word that she was saying. Now that she held him, she could get a better look at him, and saw that his very pale eyes were slightly almond in shape, and while not looking distinctly oriental, he certainly did have an middle-asian look to him, and she placed him as perhaps coming from the region of the Russian Caucuses.

"I got you! You are safe now," Kara said to the man in her most reassuring and soothing voice, as she cradled him in her arms. His gaze went wide in surprise with just how fast she got to him, and then went to the ground below, then back to her face. His brow furrowed a bit as his eyes went to her lips, and she wondered at first if he couldn't hear her due to the height that they were at and the speed that she was flying, so she slowed her pace a bit, and went into a slight dive to get into a warmer and more breathable atmosphere. When low enough into the warmer air, she slowed down and got a better look at the person that she had saved and almost dropped him.

"You're not... human, are you?" Supergirl asked in a soft tone, that was more for herself than for the ears of the man that she was carrying, which were pointed. Not obviously so where they were sticking up and out like often portrayed with demons, but mostly hidden by his long jet black hair. But, with the way that the wind was tussling his hair, it didn't take long for her eyes to discern the unusual. The appearance of his ears only seemed to confirm the strangeness that she witnessed with his eyes as she cradled the man in her arms. The man looked at her, obviously concerned by the tone of her voice and the surprise within, and she gasped inwardly as her own gaze was captured by the man's amazing eyes. There was a deep intelligence to them, as well as a strange depth of mystery of who, or what, he actually was. But, she also sensed that this was a man of great power, though she did not have any immediate clue as to what gave her that idea.

"Who are you? Where did you come from," the beautiful superheroine asked the man she held, but it didn't take her long to realize that he was hearing her just fine, but that he just wasn't understanding her words. So she tried a number of different languages to see if he would respond to any of them. But, he only shook his head as she tried Italian, then Russian, then Greek, then Slavic with him, trying different languages based upon his apparent ethnic physical traits. She realized that trying to converse with him in Earthly tongues was probably a lost cause, but she did not know what else to do. So, she tried her best to communicate with him as she kept him safe in her arms as she descended towards the ground of her adopted city, San Francisco.

"I cannot understand you," he said to her again and again, to answer the question that she was asking him. Though she spoke to him in a different language each time, he was able to tell that she was asking him the same question, only in different tongues. And though he had been to countless civilizations which spoke countless languages in the countless time/space places that he had traveled to, none of the words she said did he recognize. Thus, he already knew several things about this world that he had found himself upon, or more accurately, above. The women were amazingly beautiful and flew, and that there were enough people to have a number of different languages.

She imagined that it may be him saying that he didn't understand what she was saying, but she did not recognize the language that he was speaking. It was a lovely tongue to her ears, which had heard so many different languages of Earth, but so far there was no language that they both understood which she could use to communicate with him. She so wanted to know where he had come from. She did not detect any aircraft nearby that he could of came from. It was if he had simply materialized out of thin air. And, the more that she considered his otherworldly appearance, she wondered if that is not exactly what had just happened with him.

Vladimire briefly wondered about casting a spell of understanding upon himself, but he was still cautious about performing any magic until he understood where he was, and the way that magic would perform on this world. Perhaps such a spell would backfire like his dimensional doorway spell did, so he decided to not try to perform any magic until he had a time to do some more research upon this time/place/plane of existence that he found himself upon.

He found it hard to tear his eyes from the beautiful face of the woman that carried him, but he finally did to look down towards the ground which they were rapidly approaching. He saw that they were approaching a city, but one that was larger than he had ever seen before. It appeared to be made of stone and metal, and seemed to be growing larger and larger the closer they came to it. He saw other flying things, but as he concentrated he could see that they were metallic constructs, some with wings like birds, while others seemed to be giant dragonfly type of constructs with rapidly beating wings. His eyes were drawn down to what he took to be roads, but they were filled with more metallic things that were scurrying to and fro, but in orderly lines that streamed past each other in seemingly polite function. The city was bordering a great water, upon which many more strange crafts plied upon, many going under a spectacular golden hued bridge that was greater than he had ever seen before. What matter of beings walked this world, he wondered as he marveled at the height of the buildings that were built upon many hills of the land that they flew down towards.

Supergirl could feel the man's heart rate through her hold upon his body, and she could tell that he was not afraid by it's steady and strong regularity. But, he was soon twisting around in her arms that she was momentarily afraid that he would pull himself from her grasp as he turned about this way and that as he took in the city below them. When he did turn his head so that she could see his face before it was looking away again, she could see a look of absolute joy upon his handsome features that gave him a childlike look of wonder that she found to be totally endearing to her. She laughed at his joy, which he quickly shared with her after a quick glance at her, before he looked back and ahead of them as she flew down towards the city, no longer trying to talk to the man, but to just share this brief moment of happiness that he was feeling from their shared flight.

Chapter Two - The Hills of San Francisco

Vladimire did not know why this flying goddess was bringing him to this huge city, but he was glad that she was. It was marvelous. It was a giant city that was mostly upon a peninsula of land that was pushing itself into the large body of water that the horizon fell into. On the other side was a large bay, where many boats of varying sizes moved to and fro. He turned as much as he could in the blonde's grasp to take in as much as he could from this bird's eye view, and joined in with the girl's angelic laugh as she slowed her descent so that he could take in more of the city that grew and grew to fill his marveling gaze.

As they slowed and got lower, his sensitive ears started to bring in the sounds of the world around him to his attention. No longer was he just hearing the wind of their flight, but now a growing number of different sounds from below them, from the waters to the streets. He was now able to make out people walking below him, and then noticed that these people were going in and out of the metal conveyances which then sped them up and down those roads. He quickly turned about and looked back over the flying girl's shoulder and then around them in the air, but could not see anyone that was like the girl that was carrying him. The flying things that he had seen appeared to be like those conveyances on the ground, but were for air transport to carry people inside. Only this girl, this angel, this goddess appeared to have the sole power of flight that no one else shared. At least he couldn't imagine why someone would not use such a power of flight that this girl holding him had. Why put them into such strange metal things when you could soar free like a bird, but without wings. Sure, he had known flight in a number of ways, but it was always by use of a spell or by use of a magical artifact. Was this girl using magic?

Supergirl looked at her ward when he suddenly stopped laughing, and was looking at her with a strange expression. His right arm tightened over her shoulder and he could feel his finger tips fanning along her ribs, pressing in and tapping against her in a strange manner. It was almost like what people do when keeping a beat to music, but there was no music playing that her super hearing could detect. Was he trying to communicate something to her, or trying to discern something about her?

Suddenly she heard something that was not music to her ears. Gunfire! She went into a quick hover and did a slow spin to determine where the shots where coming from, when she spotted a number of gunmen coming out of a bank. She quickly saw that there were five of them, two outside the bank and three still inside the bank. The two outside had automatic weapons, which they were using to excellent effect to pin a pair of police officers behind their squad car that was being turned into Swiss cheese by their powerful weapons.

"This is a job for SUPERGIRL!" Vladi heard the girl state with determination, and then suddenly felt him in a controlled fall as the blue clad heroine swooped down to the street and then quickly, yet gently, deposited him on his feet on the sidewalk before flying in a blue blur towards the bank. The dark clad mage ignored the people who turned to gawk at him, all babbling in that strange language that he heard her speak to him with originally after catching him, and figured that would be the common tongue of this particular land. But, he paid them no heed as he stepped out into the wide street, which was made of a smooth dark grey rock, to watch the blonde girl soar down the street towards a pair of men that were using loud metal rods to keep a pair of blue clad men hiding behind their metal conveyance. He could see that conveyance was being punctured by invisible knives that the strange metal rods seemed to be firing with great noise and some fire coming from their ends. The men with the blue uniforms had odd weapons themselves, but were smaller rods which they held in their hands as opposed to the larger ones held in two hands by their opponents. Every now and then they would fire their rods at the two men in black but nothing seemed to phase the two.

He understood war, and that this was a battle, but it was with weapons that he was very unfamiliar with. Also, he did not know the sides involved her, though he wondered if the blue clad angel was on the side of the two in blue that were pinned behind the wheeled conveyance. He stepped out more, hearing the alarm in the voices behind him but ignoring them as he saw the girl in blue suddenly appear between the men in blue and the men in black. He could see that the two in blue were suddenly relieved by her appearance, while those in black took a number of steps back as if they were suddenly in great fear. They then fired their weapons at the flying angel!

"Noooo!!" he called out suddenly, having seen what those rods could do to metal, and afraid that her spectacular body would be instantly rended into bloody flesh. But, that didn't happen much to his amazement. Instead, he could see small tiny pieces of metal bouncing off the girl's chest and torso. He quickly determined that the rods shot out these metal pieces which could punch through metal but only bounced off her body. His mouth dropped open as he then saw what appeared to be fire shooting in thin narrow lines from her eyes, which caused one and then the other of the rods that the men were holding to glow a blazing red, to be immediately dropped by the men in black, who howled and shook their hands in great pain. There was a sudden whirlwind of red and blue, and then the girl was standing over the prone bodies of the two men in black beside the men in blue, who quickly leapt upon the black clad men and shackled their hands behind their back.

Vladi was amazed at this, as all this action took place in the span of six heartbeats. This strange flying girl was amazingly fast, and appeared to be impervious to injury. She could also shoot out rays of fire from her eyes. The more he watched, the more he became convinced that she was a singular oddity of this world that he found himself upon.

He moved closer, but was still a distance away from the building that Supergirl stood before, but his sensitive eyes and ears were able to pick out details from a distance that most would not be able to discern with any great accuracy. He heard a shouting from within the building, which was followed by more gunfire, this time the glass of the doors blowing outwards under the onslaught of the bullets. Again, there was a blur of blue and red as the superheroine flew into the bank, and in a moment their was the sound of grunts heard from within and the shots stopped. An instant later, three more men in black joined the other two on the ground by the men in blue, who quickly secured their prisoners with strips of white material.

Vladimire shook his head in amazement as the crowds in the street erupted in cheers, and the girl in red and blue basked in the glory of their adoration. A goddess indeed, he thought, as he looked from face to face surrounding him. They all had forgotten the stranger in their midst and were only now having eyes for Supergirl, who after a few minutes of the cheering, turned to talk to the men in blue, who he saw now were wearing some sort of metal badges of office upon their breasts. He wondered then if that yellow and red 'S' upon the girl's chest was a badge of her office, perhaps standing for that word that he heard herself state once, and what everyone now had upon their lips... Supergirl!

Chapter Three - The Wizard and Earth Shakes Hands

It was at that moment that the wizard discovered the magic of the planet. It was always different on each plane that he found himself upon. Sometimes it was just a little tingling of faint magic that he detected that stroked across his feet, while other times it was the more intense sensation of a feel of cold (or warm) flow of magic flowing around him. Some instances were pleasant, and some connections with the magic of the world he found himself on were not so enjoyable. But, never had Vladimire have the magic of a world grab ahold of him, lift him up into the air, and then dash him back down to the ground in such a violent fashion.

He was unaware of his body and what it was going through as the magic of the Earth connected to him, and he connected to it. All he was aware of at that brief moment of time that extended through infinity was the immense power that flowed into him from the world's past, present and future. He was aware of the planets birth, and it's formation, and the creation of it's life forces that depended upon it that flew in the air, swam in it's waters, or strode upon it's lands. He saw the magic users before him, the life and deaths of the magical creatures, and the stories of the legends which he learned about from the lips of the gods and goddesses who once ruled the Earth with mighty powers. He saw the rise of great empires which soon in a blink of an eye turned to stagnation of complacency and ignorance before dying in the ignominious despair of myth. He listened to the stories of the poets and philosophers, who spoke of great kings and valiant warriors who created great dynasties with sword and sorcery. And, he saw the tears of the prophets, who cried for a day when such giants would once again walk the Earth, but wept when such giants were perversions of nature, or aliens from other times and worlds. The world called out to him in the song of the lei lines which whipped and wrapped around the planet that had in centuries past kept the populace afraid and respectful of the land upon they walked, because that her caretakers would punish those who would destroy her with greed and avarice for her natural riches. He felt the horror and terror of the planet that has felt so defenseless for so many eons as the wonder of magic has been discounted and dismissed. He felt the Earth look into his own soul as the possibility of one that it could use to bring such wonderment of magic back to those that fell out of her favor.

To those watching, it looked like the man in the black robe had leapt up into the air and then thrown himself down again, before going into a seizure. Such a sight was not uncommon, and many after looking briefly at him, turned away and left the area, now that the excitement of Supergirl capturing the bank robbers had left off. But, the shock upon the wizard and his system did not go unseen by his savior, Supergirl, who in a blink of an eye had left the uniformed officers with the bank robbers and was cradling the strange pointy eared man in her arms once again. She knew that she had to be careful with him as it would be easy to break his bones while he convulsed in his seizure as if she tried to restrain him, so she only made sure that the area was clear around him.

People were very used to their superheroine helping others, even those with relatively minor medical emergencies. That was just the way that she was, their beautiful heroine of mercy. They smiled and nodded and moved away to let her take care of the man in the black robe, no one really taking note of his strange ears under his long jet black hair. Even his dress was not that remarkable, being that the people of San Francisco were used to seeing many people dressing in different manner and modes. The strange and the unusual was common place in The City By The Bay.

Kara held the man as gently as she could, and called out to the officers down the street to call 911 for an ambulance. She saw one of the men bring up his portable radio to his mouth and heard him calling her request to his dispatch. It was then that the man spasmed and then his body locked up and his back arched as his shaking suddenly stopped and his body now threatened to break itself in two. And then, just as suddenly as that started, it stopped, and he settled limply into her lap, and she felt his breath leave his lips, and then his heart stopped beating.

"No... no... no.... ," Supergirl quickly muttered with surprise and shock, as she quickly shifted herself to her knees so that the man was laying on the sidewalk on his back before her. She put her hand to his chest and concentrated her hearing, but her senses confirmed that the man was no longer breathing and his heart was no longer beating. She knew CPR from the classes that she took, but also knew that her powers and strengths made such things dangerous because it would be all to easy for her to crush the man's ribcage into his heart, or overly inflate his lungs with her breath to explode them from within.

"Hurry, he stopped breathing!" she then shouted to the police officer down the block from her, and then turned back to the man in black as he lay peacefully before her. She remembered a trick that her cousin Kal-El had taught her about generating electricity by rubbing her hands together at a certain frequency, and immediately started to do that, and within a few seconds had a good charge of static electricity built around her hands. She then carefully positioned her right hand over his chest then her left hand at his side at his ribcage and then briefly touched them to the man.

There was an explosion of energy that pulsed out from the man the instant that she touched him. Again his body arched up as his heels and his head snapped down into the sidewalk, causing cracks to ripple out from where his body hit the pavement. Supergirl's eyes grew wide and she rocked back upon her heels at the force of the blast of energy, as it was way more than what she had expected, and much stronger than what the amount of energy that she created should of caused. The blast knocked people off their feet and blew out nearby windows and set off car alarms for a block. The man then gasped in a huge gulp of air, and then he fell back down to the ground, and the blonde superheroine immediately leaned forwards over him again, her right hand going again to his chest where she felt his heart beating once again, as people got up and ran screaming from the area, thinking that the bank robbers had set off a bomb inside the bank they had just robbed.

Supergirl was momentarily taken aback but the intense explosion of energy and worried for the panic stricken people momentarily, but soon sighed in relief to see that the man was alive once again. However, her relief was immediately replaced by a gasp of surprise as the man's eyes snapped open, causing her to forget all about the chaos around her. No longer were the eyes the intensive ice blue with the sensational black irises, but now they were glowing orbs of molten silver. There were strange and alien and very disconcerting to her, and she could not tear her eyes away from them. She was reminded of the shiny chrome on high end cars, but there was no reflection from them, only a strange flowing type of movement within them, like the churning of a mountain spring.

Vladi was woken up quite suddenly from his tranquil and peaceful meditation with the Earth, and pulled from the soothing arms of the magic of the planet by a strong electrical jolt to his system. One moment he was floating in the warmth and comfort of the Gaia, and the next he felt himself laying upon cold hard pavement with pains in the back of his head and heels. He opened his eyes, and discovered that the planet had given him a new way of seeing things, so that he could see exactly how things were, and not just how things seemed to be.

First thing he saw was the goddess, who he saw now was not a supernatural being, but a being of super abilities. He could see power flowing around her and through her, which he saw came from the star of which this planet orbited. He could see into her body to how her nerves were reacting to the stimuli of her surroundings, and to him, and could see how her powerful muscles were quivering just under the surface of her skin which was just under the fabric of her clothes. He felt the warmth of her touch, and the taste of her breath and the smell of her scent as she leaned over him and talked to him in a tone of compassion and awe. He could see that she was curious and alarmed by what she saw within him, and he wondered what she now saw in him that made her feel a measure of caution now with him that she did not before.

He looked past her to the buildings and the sky, but not to see structures of steel and wood and glass as before, but lines of energy within them from electricity and the energies of pressures and gravity that affects things that they push and pull against in constant flux. In the sky he saw the waves of the mystic streams that flowed about the world to meet into powerful rivers of eldrich power which make up the lei lines of the planet. He could also see the lines of the gravitational flows of the planet which often flowed with the lei lines, together and yet separate in how they protect the planet that they surround. He saw the different measures of light, of the different wavelengths of energy which came from the far away star, moving to and through them all at different rates to fuel and heal and kill all at the same time. He looked to the side, to those people on the street, and saw how different they were from the super being before him. How dull and drab their energies were, and how nearly non-existent they were when compared to this marvelous creature over him. How weak and pitiful they were when seen next to this amazing powerhouse of energy that caught him high in the sky over this strange new world.

Vladi brought his hand slowly up, and took a look at it through his new vision, and saw the power that now surged and pulsed through him. He could see the lines of the world's streams of mystic power being drawn to him from those flowing eddies and streams of the magic of the Earth, as his new mother sought to feed and sustain him in a way that she had not done for centuries. He turned his hand and shifted his fingers and started to move and mold the lines of energy as he had done for so many centuries upon many different planes.

A new power now existed upon the land, to balance out the scales of nature, which had so far tilted away from the good of the planet. There was now a person to use the sources of magic that this planet provided once again, and people would soon be amazed and awed by the power and abilities that the Earth would provide for this wizard. It was now to be seen how such a power would grow and be utilized by this creature from a different plane, as not all who she gave such power to was able to handle such without going mad and destroying themselves in the process.

Chapter Four - Rivers in the Sky

Like babies learning to walk, wizards when they are first learning to use a new magic source are oft times clumsy. And, due to their powers and abilities while using such powers, are thus hazardous to themselves and others around them. The wizard in black named Vladimire was no exception to this dangerous rule of power acquisition and accustoming.

Earlier he had wondered if it was safe to attempt to try magic because of the concern with how his spells would be affected in this new plane, now it was as if all his spell knowledge was trying to erupt from within him all at once in response to the new stimulus from the magic of the Earth. He opened his mouth to start to warn the goddess over him to remove her hand from his chest and move away from him when his innate self-protection spells reacted to her touch upon him. But, with such spells, there was no time to warn her away as such things occur within a blink of an eye.

"Uuuuuuuuuugggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!," Supergirl groaned as a new explosion erupted from the man underneath her, and she was blasted away from him to sail across the street. She slammed into a office building and broke through the glass windows and didn't stop until she was half way through the building. She shook her long blonde hair free of pieces of debris to clear her ringing head, as she staggered uneasily to her feet. She had never felt such a blow like that in a very long time, if ever. Looking through the tunnel of destruction that she had made, she saw that the man in black was getting to his feet, and looking around himself as if in a daze himself. She saw that this eyes were still glowing silver, and wondered if she was responsible for that strange change in him, and thus had unleashed this power within him.

Supergirl gasped when she saw a truck suddenly appear, and knew that it would hit the man as he was standing in the street and looking the opposite way of traffic and flew out the tunnel to stop the truck before it struck the man, but was drawn up short when a shimmering wall of energy materialized between the man and the truck. The truck slammed into the wall and was immediately brought to a stop, it's massive front end crumpling as it it had struck a stone wall.

Supergirl flew to the door of the truck and looked in at the driver, who was shaken but alright, then looked back to the man who was oblivious of the truck behind him, and now strolling down the street towards the bay. The odd energy wall had flickered out of existence it appeared after the collision, and the superheroine started to worry that there was much more to the mystery of this strange man, and that much of that mystery would be very dangerous. Especially if he got to the more populated parts of the city, like Market Street where he was now heading. She didn't know why he was going that way, but then, she didn't know anything about this man other than his strange ears and spectacular eyes. But, she had to get him to someplace safe before he could let loose with any more of those powerful energy blasts that had knocked her half way through a building!

The wizard was no longer concerned by the blonde goddess as she was no longer around him. He did not know what happened to her or where she went, but he didn't think of that long as he was more concerned about learning more about the streams of energy that he saw in the air. There was more to them then he first realized. He could also see more clearly the auras of energy around these beings that populated this city. He saw that the energy from these people was also feeding these small streams of energy, which made them grow as more people fed the energy streams. Some streams were feeders of magic, and some streams drew magic into them, much like the veins and arteries of a body with blood. He started to follow a stream that was moving down the street towards a large body of water. He could see that these streams had taken form along the paths of the people that move along these streets, though he knew that it could as well be that the streets and people are moving along the path lines of the streams of energy, much like fish following the water of a stream.

Vladimire did not pay any attention to the people or their vehicles beyond a cursory glance at their auras and how they fed the energy of the city, as he walked into the middle of traffic to follow the flow of the mystical lines of power. He wanted to find the 'river' that this little stream of power was feeding, to follow to it's ultimate source. Or, at least to find a nexus of an intersection of several of these energy streams. His attention was concentrated on this one task to the exception of all other stimuli, regardless of his earlier curiosities about the world he found himself upon.

"Noooo!!!" the mage yelled as he felt himself suddenly grabbed from behind and was lifted up into the air by strong feminine hands under his armpits. She was much faster than the earlier truck which his protective spells had stopped, so Supergirl was not blocked from grabbing ahold of the man, who she then turned away from Market Street and headed towards the fairly open spaces of Golden Gate Park.

"Sorry, Mister! But, I have to get you someplace where there aren't too many people around", she spoke to the struggling man as she swooped over the buildings of San Francisco towards the water side park. She held him easily out and ahead of herself, but in a manner so that she could see around him so that she didn't fly him into a bird or phone line or such. But, the man was stronger than she gave credit to, and he was making it harder for her to hang on to unless she was willing to use greater force and thus possibly injure him. And, that was something that she really didn't want to do. She felt badly about his dying earlier, and didn't want to put him through that again, because she was afraid of what he may turn into if he came to life... again.

She held him slightly to the side so that his long black hair would not blow into her face and blind (or rather inconvenience) her, and noted that his arm waving suddenly seemed to be a bit more systematic. At the same time she heard him speaking with his strange language. Not in the loud protest that he had done when she first grabbed him off the street, but now in a more sing-song fashion. She actually thought the way he was speaking was quite enchanting.

"Oh shit..." Supergirl then muttered as she found herself holding a bunch of empty black clothes.

Chapter Five - Help! There's a Naked Man in the Park!

"Oh shit..." Vladi heard behind him as he suddenly found himself standing on a cold beach facing the ocean that he had seen from so far away while in the arms of the flying girl. Now, the water was close enough for it to splash it's spray upon his naked flesh.

The wizard blinked as he looked down at himself. He eyesight had returned to normal, and he was now naked, he saw. He immediately figured that it had to do with the teleportation spell that he had cast upon himself. His vision returned to it's normal state because the spell had taken him out of the strange fugue state that he had been in following the planetary communion that he had partaken in. And, his clothes, he imagined that they were still in the grasp of the flying girl, because they were not a part of this world, or a part of him, and such is the problems that often followed one casting teleportation spells.

The wind was cold as it came off the water, and he slowly turned around to take in the sight of dozens of people taking in the sight of him. They stood gaping, though not as much as his naked state as much as it was a man suddenly appearing out of thin air before them.

The wizard took it all in, looking more closely at these people for the first time. There were males and females, but he could see that on this world coupling wasn't just between males and females, as he saw males coupled together as well as females coupled together. He saw couples with children, and people with strange animals of all different sizes that they led about with lines to collars about their necks. Many of those animals appeared to be rather aggressive, and they certainly were noisy with the differing barking that they made towards him. He could see that some of these animals were very protective of their owners, while others appeared to be rather skittish and were actively trying to run away from him.

Vladimire looked at the people who were slowly moving away from him. He saw that the people were of differing colored skin hues, from pinkish white to dark brown to light brown and olive and yellowish. From the sizes of the people and their differing features, he determined that the world he was on had a sizable population with a diverse genetic pool. Most of the worlds that he had visited had only one or two races that walked the surface of their words, and of those most seemed as close to similar to be almost identical as species. But, this world he could tell was full of diversity. He wondered just how diverse this world was, since he had only witnessed a very very small part of it so far.

He was totally comfortable with his body, and was not afraid of his nakedness, though he was becoming more and more aware that his nakedness was affecting those people around him. He could see that some were shocked, and some were worried, just as there were some that were interested and intrigued. He saw that much of this interest came just as much from the males as from the females looking at him.

The thing that was making him more and more uncomfortable, was that he was not able to understand a word that anyone was saying. The teleportation spell that he had cast worked well enough, so he decided to go ahead and cast his spell of understanding upon himself. A number of people moved back cautiously as he brought up his hands to perform the physical gestures of the spell. He felt the strings of the magical energy of the world and slide them around in the proper form and spoke the words of power that he had discovered were the same no matter where he found himself (since they were for his utilization of his skills and abilities), and in the next moment was able to understand what the people were saying around him.

"What the hell is he doing?"
"Did you see where he came from? I swear that he wasn't there a moment ago!"
"Jesus, the guy has no hair. You think he shaves his body?"
"Shit... he's bald even THERE!"
"Who does that!!??"
"Damn he's hung!"
"Quite drooling, Marg!"
"Stop staring, Bob!"
"Shut up, Fido!!"

He felt somewhat better now that he was able to understand the words that the people were saying. He heard that they were talking to each other in different dialects and tongues then, but his spell was allowing him to understand the speech. It would take a little longer for his own tongue to get used to forming such words, but that came with time, as would coming to understand what such words actually meant.

He raised up his hands with palms out to show the men and women looking at him that he had no weapons, and that he was no threat to them. He knew that he didn't need any physical weapons with his mystical powers or physical skills, but he did not want to alarm them any more than he had so far. This was a world that he wanted to learn more of, and it was nearly impossible to learn anything from fleeing people.

"Yeah, that's a good idea buddy!! Get 'em up!" he then heard to the side, and turned to see a man in a blue uniform walking up purposely towards him. He could see that he wore a similar uniform as those men in blue that the Supergirl had helped, complete with a similar metal badge and objects in a belt about his hips. He also had in his hand one of those strange noisy rods that he had seen those men using in that earlier battle in the street. He could see that the man did not have it pointed directly at him, but had no doubt that the man would bring it to bear on him in an instant if he felt threatened.

"Thank God you're here, Officer!"
"That man's NAKED!"
"I can see that, thank you. Now please go your way, citizens. I will take it from here," the officer stated as he motioned with his free hand for those gawking 'citizens' to move away from Vladi and back to their walks on the beach, which they slowly (and a few with some reluctance) finally did.

"Okay buddy, what's your name, and where are your clothes??"

Vladimire told him the truth, of course. He always did. Not that everyone believed him all the time with what he told them. But, that was the problem of those that disbelieved magic and discounted it's practitioners.

"My name is Vla-dee-myer and Sup-er-gurl has my clothes," the mage told the officer, who was looking suspiciously at the side of his head.

"Now, why would Supergirl have your clothes, Mr Meyer??" the officer asked him, now taking notee of the man's very pale blue eyes while trying not to roll his own. At least it took his attention from his bare naked schlong hanging in the wind! And, was his ears pointed?? He wondered then if this guy was lost from a movie set, and obviously a X-rated set, at that!

One GLARING error that I have made on this story, that I did not catch until now (how it went for this long, without anyone telling me, is beyond me) is that Chapter 6 is a duplicated of Chapter from Part One. I could remove it, but then I would have to go through and renumber all the chapters, and it is a bit too late for that now. So, you can (obviously) just skip the chapter six here (or, if you really liked it before, you can re-read it as well! lol)

When Vladi Met Kara (pt 2)

Chapter Six - Help! There's a Naked Man in the Park!

At least it took his attention from his bare naked schlong hanging in the wind! And, was his ears pointed?? He wondered then if this guy was lost from a movie set, and obviously a X-rated set, at that! Still, standing naked in the cold is not something that people normally do, unless under the influence of drugs, so he thought it best to play it careful and keep his weapon ready... just in case. Also, it never hurts when you want to let them know who was in charge, the officer thought to himself.

Vladi didn't know how to answer that question, primarily because he didn't know for sure that she did have his clothes now, and secondly because even if she did (which he truly believed) it would be hard to explain to someone that has no mystical abilities.

"Are you... a... wizard?" Vladimire then asked the man that the others had called 'officer'. Perhaps that was a name for such magic users on this plane. Certainly he had a magical rod in his possession, but he also knew that ownership of magical artifacts did not automatically mean the possessor had magical abilities.

"No, Mister Meyer. I am a police man," the cop answered, thinking now that the man was obviously on something. Probably on LSD.

Vladi looked behind him for a Mister Meyer, but saw no one immediately behind him and turned back to the police man.

"Why did the others then call you Off-e-cyr then, Pol-yce Mon?" the wizard asked the man before him, slowly enunciating the words to get his lips used to forming the words that his magic spell translated for him.

"You must be a foreigner, huh? Well, Mister Meyer," the officer explains, thinking now that this guy must be a German tourist, who got his hands on some acid, and is now his responsibility on the beach where he is freezing his nuts off. "A police man is also known as a police officer, and often called just 'officer' for short." Was this guy a German diplomat, he then wondered. That would make it easier for him, to just turn him over to their consulate. This is where 'diplomatic immunity' would certainly save him on paperwork.

"Four in her?" Vladi asked. He shook his head at the restrictions of the spell of understanding. It may help to understand what is said, but it did not actually help for one to know the meaning of the words. He looked up and back across the expanse of greenery that was between him and the city which he had been flown over. He was thankful that the teleportation spell only put him a short distance away from his start location, because it is much easier to investigate a plane from one location than from a number of separated ones. And, this seemed to be a very interesting plane, with some very interesting ... creatures. Especially that Sup-er-gurl. Where was she at, he wondered, looking in the air over the police man's shoulder.

Chapter Seven - Seek and Ye Shall Find

Where was he? Supergirl wondered as she flew over San Francisco, using her supervision to look for the pointy eared man with the spectacular eyes. She didn't really know what to look for, as she was now holding his clothes. Was he naked, since it was some sort of bath robe that he was wearing, or did he have on some underwear, at least? Still, it was a needle in a huge haystack when looking for a man in the fourth most populous city in the state of California.

At first she had thought that she had dropped him, that he had fallen out of his clothes while she was flying him to the park, but after doing an immediate u-turn, she did not see the man any where near by. He had simply disappeared. Into thin air. Just like he had appeared. Out of thin air. Or, she supposed it would be more accurate to say INTO thin air.

Kara grumbled to herself. This was bothering her more than she cared to admit. She normally dealt with bank robbers and muggers and other type of criminals. Every now and then an alien threat, or a super villain's mischief. She rarely dealt with missing persons, because regardless of her special abilities, unless they were in the middle of a desert or such where people rarely were, it was really next to impossible to find someone, especially in a city of more than eight hundred thousand. Or, eight and a half million people if one would consider the San Jose and Oakland areas added to the greater San Francisco region.

Supergirl turned around to fly back in the direction that she had been going, and then was flying over the Golden Gate Park. She slowed down and was slowly scanning the people that she saw there, paying more attention to single males than couples or groups. Every now and then she thought she saw someone that could be the man, but it was usually a just an Asian with long hair. She was coming to the coat and was just about to turn around to make another search leg when she saw a bunch of people moving away from a cop who was talking to some swimmer. She saw that the swimmer had long black hair so thought it best to give him a good look, just in case.

"Great.. Krypton... " she stammered to herself as she came up short into a hover. The man was not wearing ANYTHING. And, it was the man she was looking for. And, he was... he was... very well endowed! And, obviously not affected by the cold that most men would be. He wasn't even trying to cover himself up. Just standing there tall and proud in front of that policeman, who was doing his best to keep his eyes away from the man's ... very sizable 'package', as the people here would often call such things.

She could feel her face heating up and knew that she was blushing. Normally she would ignore such things, since it was not unusual for her to see a persons genitals when using X-ray vision. But, this was seen with her normal vision. Telescopic certainly, but still normal sight. She then noted that the officer had his gun out, and got immediately worried. He kept it down and to the side, but still it was out of his holster, and while guns did not bother her because of her invulnerability, humans did not have the thickness of skin that she had in such regards to bullets.

The sonic boom reached the pair on the beach just after Supergirl did, which set into motion a series of near simultaneous events which would change the course of the lives of all three.

"Supergirl!!!" the cop explained as Supergirl landed with a thud from her high speed flight next to him. Some of the sand from her landing kicked up into the policeman's face, and he brought his gun hand up to block the sand. Just then the sonic boom hit them from her super-sonic flight, and the alarmed nature of the officer, with him being off balance caused him to pull the trigger in response to the loud boom. The wizard was turning towards the superheroine with surprise at her sudden appearance, when he noticed the officer stumbling a bit at his side, bringing up the strange rod of power towards him. Supergirl noticed that as well, and immediately stepped forwards as Vladi took a step back to put himself away from the front of the rod.

"BANG!!" the shot rang out across the beach, and Vladi was first immediately aware of how loud the report was, and second by a terrible pain in his head, followed by a brilliant light which was taken over by a muffled darkness as he fell to the ground with a bullet wound to his temple. Supergirl gasped in shock and the policeman swore as he put his gun in his holster. Supergirl had stepped in front of the bullet, but it ricocheted off her 'S' emblem and into the naked man's head. She immediately X-rayed the wound and was relieved to see that the bullet did not actually enter his brain, but had bounced off his skull in a glancing blow.

"Holy Shit, Supergirl!! I didn't mean to shoot him!! Shitgoddamnitfuck!!!" the officer swore as he quickly dropped to his knees, putting a hand on the bleeding temple of the wizard who lay lifeless in the sand.

Supergirl stood in shock as the officer tried to stop the blood with his bare fingers. She had stepped in front of the gun to protect the man from being shot, and he had ended up getting shot anyway. He had stepped back just as she had stepped forward when the officer was pulling the trigger. She knew it was all a terrible accident, but how had the man moved so quickly himself?? If he had just stayed still no one would of been hurt!

"It's not your fault, Officer! Ahhh... you call this in, and I am going to take him to Saint Mary's, as it's the closest! Did you ever get his name?" Supergirl asked as she scooped the man up into her arms, and wrapped him as best she could in his black bath robe.

"Ahhh..ummm... I think his name is Meyers. He had a strange first name like Val or... Vlad ... something foreign." the cop answered as he stood up, wiping his bloody hands on his uniform trousers while quickly looking down the beach to spot the nearest phone box. Supergirl was relieved that the officer was not panic stricken and that had his wits about him, and took a note of his name tag before lifting up into the air.

"I'll get him some help, then call your precinct sergeant and let him know what happened her. Don't you worry, Officer Johnson!" Supergirl said as she turned towards Saint Mary's which was near the end of the park. She brought up part of his clothing to hold over his head where he was bleeding, as she flew as fast as she could, while being careful not to fly so fast that he would not be able to breath from the air turbulence, trying not to think of the guilt that she was feeling for his predicament.

Chapter Eight - Sweet Dreams are Made of These

Wizards always had the strangest dreams. Part of it was because of their magical abilities connects their subconscious to the world around them in ways that normal people are not. The other part was that their dreams are not so much their brains trying to make sense of the world around them, as much as the world around them are trying to give messages to them. Vladi was no different in this as the Earth was taking advantage of his comatose state to communicate with him those things that he needed to know in order to better utilize his powers. Some people would call such powers psychic abilities, but that was seen by wizards as being too limiting to what it was that they actually did.

The wizard named Vladimire was not aware of his flight to the hospital in the arms of Supergirl, though he did have a feeling of repose within the comforting arms of the goddess of Gaia. And, like all wizards, he was able to control his dreams through a lucid state, though he was having some problems with steering and controlling the dreams because of his head injury. The injury also made it harder for him to control and regulate the flow of mystical energies that the world was flowing into and around and through him.

He did his best to learn about the land that he found himself in, and it was fairly easy for him to get information about San Francisco and the region of California that he found himself in. Some things were more difficult to learn of, such as the regional politics and economics as the land has little concern in such things as the humans upon her surface do. He was able to learn some about such things as the humans of the world cannot help but leave behind the mental residue of things that they feel strongly about, and Vladi started to learn more about this worlds social norms from such generalized feelings from the populace that fed their emotions to the Earth around them.

He had a thousand questions that needed answering, and for every one question that he finally found the answer to in the strange mystic-psychic ether, a dozen more questions popped up. Many, if not most, of his questions had to do with the strange flying girl named Supergirl.

Such information was actually fairly easy for him to learn this way, because many people had very strong feelings and thoughts about the superheroine, who had done many good things for the Earth, so that the Gaia also had good feelings for her (as much as a planet/ecosystem could have feelings).

But, much of the problem that he was facing, though he was not aware of such in his unconscious state, was that the location that he was in, was filtering the information that he was feeding upon through the prisms of the sick and injured and ill of mind that made up the majority of the people in Saint Mary's hospital. Intense feelings many times over rode more settled thoughts, making it difficult to ascertain what was true versus what was perceived. As a wizard, he knew that perception did not always equate truth, but to those perceiving the world around them, such perceptions where the truth. This is something that wizards often took advantage of, and he was of no exception.

Time stood still for the comatose wizard, who spent his time exploring his surroundings away from his body. Some had called such things as spirit walking, while others called it astral projection. In any event, it was the witnessing of things away from his corporal body through his mystical senses. He was aware of his body laying on a white bed while surrounded by strange machines, which had lines and tubes to different parts of his body to keep it fed and nourished. In a way, Vladi was actually glad of that, because then he didn't have to concentrate on paying attention to his physical form, to feed and water it and to pay attention to it's different needs. With the HOSPITAL taking care of him, he was able to explore this world to his minds content. Unfortunately, or fortunately as depending on how one would look at it, his mind was never content.

At first he just stayed close to his body, watching those people looking over him, the doctors and nurses and other staff who poked and prodded him, while taking looks into his eyes and mouth and ears while writing down their observations, while talking excitedly among each other about his unusual characteristics. Much of their conversation was confusing to him, as they used many terms that her discovered to be highly specific to their training, which most lay people did not understand. He thought of them as something of peers, as they were men and women who were dedicated to knowledge, but with a more 'scientific' aspect. Most of them openly scoffed and scorned those who were more open to the ways of the spirit and the 'paranormal', which was becoming something that was discussed more and more openly around his bedside.

He was also becoming more and more aware of the strong aspect that sexuality had on this people. On one hand they seemed to go out of their way to pay no attention to, or hide, their sexual properties, such as their breasts and genitals. But, at the same time, they dressed in ways and acted in ways which would often direct the eye to such personal 'areas of privacy'. Every now and then, when things were not as active as it was night time when most of the people were asleep, one or two staff members, would come into his room, and move away his bed coverings to examine his genitals. Some seemed to be very concerned with it's cleanliness and would even clean it in manners to cause his penis to engorge from stimulation, much to their amazement and many times, personal amusement.

As time went on, Vladi expanded his astral travels further and further away from his body, to the area outside of the hospital where his body lay. And where the hospital was quiet and neat and ordered, the San Francisco outside the hospital was loud and chaotic and disorganized. People came and went, in varying speeds, yelling and talking and hugging and kissing and slapping each other. Again he noted that the coupling arrangements was much different than he was used to in his travels, with same sex couples being very common, with the men often called 'gay', while the women would often be called 'lesbian'.

Many of them had pets, of many shapes and sizes and colors, mostly of the feline variety called 'cats' and a canine variety of species called 'dogs', which they would walk around collared via a line they called a 'leash'. However, mostly he saw dogs treated this way, as the cats would mostly be carried around in containers for their comfort and protection. Occasionally, he would witness some of these people treating other people the same way as their pets, having them walk at their sides or just behind them, the other 'lesser' person wearing a collar and led on a leash. And, while they would be called 'pet', much like one would a dog or a cat, these pets were more about sexuality than ownership (though there was that aspect involved, as well).

As it was, Vladimire spent most of his time staying as close to Saint Mary's hospital as he could, and only slowly expanding his astral range as he became more comfortable with the city, it's neighborhoods, and his own powers and abilities. He was finding it easier and easier to go further from his body, and then to get back quickly to it again. Before too long he no longer needed to travel in a straight line from his body in order to find it again, nor was he needing to have visual landmark cues in order to help him find his way. He was having a great time exploring and spying upon this land, but it was getting more and more frustrating to him that he was not able to interact with the people or the environment in ways in which would help him learn as much as he would like, as fast as he would like.

Chapter Nine - Just Who Is At Fault, Anyway?

It had been just over seven weeks since Supergirl had brought the mysterious 'Mister Meyer' to Saint Mary's Hospital, and since then little has changed to his condition. She would drop in every now and then to check in on him, as she had taken him under her charge, since in her investigations no one else would, as he seemed to have come from no where, and no one was wanting to take responsibility for him. Except for the SFPD Officer that shot him, Marc Johnson. Many times she would come in to check on Mr. Meyer to find Officer Johnson sitting at his bedside, looking dejected and guilty. She could understand his feelings, all to well, and even though she did her best to convince the policeman that it was not his fault, it was impossible to steer him away from such thoughts, just as it was impossible for her not to feel that his laying in a coma was her fault.

The doctors she spoke to were on one hand unsure why he was still in a coma, but said that such things varied from person to person and case to case, and that all they could really do is wait. But, at the same time they were very fascinated by his case, not in that he was in a coma from a gunshot wound to his head, but that he was so unlike everyone else in the hospital. On one hand he looked human, and tested human in so many different ways. But, on the other hand the doctors were fascinated by his strange eyes. His ears they explained as just some genetic anomaly or even some (very good) cosmetic surgery, but his eyes were nothing like they had ever seen before. Even in the man's comatose state, the eyes were still reactive in ways that would indicate that the man should not be in a coma. Another thing that mystified them, is that in all the time that he was in the coma, his body did not react as one normally would. His muscles did not atrophy nor did his hair get any longer. He did not develop bed sores, nor did he need shaving. In ways, it seemed as if his body had gone into a strange sort of suspended animation, and indeed, he seemed to be in absolutely perfect health, except for the matter of being perpetually unconscious.

Supergirl did not like leaving him like this in the hospital, but she didn't know what other option she had. There was a city... a state... a country of people that needed her and her powers, and she could not spend much time worrying over one person, no matter how much she may take credit for his condition. Soon, it became a habit of hers to stop in and check on him before she went to her home, regardless of the day she had, be it with a great victory, or the few ignominious defeats. Of course, there were times when she was captured by some alien or villain that kept her away from checking on her charge, but after she escaped or was freed, he would be her last stop of the day.

She didn't spend much time with Mister Meyer, but the time she did spend with him she made sure that his bed was neat and the sheets fresh, and that there were flowers somewhere in the room. She would also make sure that his room television was on, and kept changing the channel to something new each time, just in case there was some show that he would be more reactive to in his coma. She preferred the variety shows herself, and usually stayed for at least a half hour, holding his hand and laughing at the antics of the various comedians, or singing along with the latest pop rock ballads.

Vladi was, of course, completely aware of Supergirl when she visited him. He made sure that anytime that she showed up that he would soon be back in his hospital room, watching over Supergirl watch over him. She was a strange enigma to him, at one time vastly powerful, but at the same time softly feminine. She had an amazing power about her that was such much more than the people of the Earth. After a while of investigating, he discovered that she, like him, was not of this world, but had come from a destroyed planet called Krypton, along with the only other survivor of that planet, a hero named Superman. He had heard that there were other heroes and heroines (as they were differentiated between male and female respectably) but they all seemed to stay in one particular place which they guarded, as Supergirl guarded San Francisco, and it's inhabitants. Such as, now, himself.

He didn't really know what to make of the two, the heroine and the cop, that would often come and stay sitting by him in his hospital room. He had discovered that he had 'been shot' and that the officer Marc Johnson had fired his 'gun' at him, and that the 'bullet' shot from the gun had struck him in the head, which is what caused him to go unconscious. Many of the staff of the hospital had said that he was lucky to be alive, as that no one hardly survives being shot from such a short range. That made him a bit upset with the officer, and thus by extension, those that he represented. It was a little confusing to him, but it seemed like many people in San Francisco had troubles with "The Man" and his authority over them, and that Vladi could very well understand, as wizards were usually a very independent lot. But, this man had almost killed him, while 'enforcing the law', which the officer had often told him, in a near pleading fashion, as he lay unresponsive in the hospital bed before the sorrowful cop.

Then, there was Supergirl. And she confused him by also apologizing to him, stating that she was sorry for the bullet hitting him after it had bounced off her. Was she now taking the blame away from Officer Johnson and putting it upon herself, he wondered. Was that part of being a hero, or heroine, that they make such sacrifices, which also meant to take the blame from one person for their action and to put it upon their own shoulders? Or, was she really being contrite because his injury really was her fault, and not the accident that so many in the hospital staff had been talking about, that it was no one's fault but just an unfortunate series of moments in time that all added up to his ending up in this hospital bed with tubes and wires attached to him? It was something that he would not find the answer to easily, or quickly. Certainly not in the comatose state he was in.

Vladi was actually interested in the television that was kept on for him. Actually, it seemed like a common thing in the 'ward' that he was in, where the staff would keep the device on as a means to connect with the unconscious mind of the person in the coma. His favorite programs were actually the 'News' programs, where attractive 'newscasters' would tell 'the viewer' that had happened that day. It was interesting that the newscasters were usually in pairs of male and females, though they would be joined by a 'jock' for 'sports', then a younger and often very attractive (not that any were ugly) person for the weather. He often laughed at how wrong the weather people were in their forecasts, but most of the people watching did not seem to mind that much, often times making disparaging remarks about 'bimbos', who were meant to be seen and not heard, and if heard never believed.

If attractiveness equated bimbo-ism, would that make Supergirl the premiere bimbo? Vladi wondered. He didn't think that was the case, as many times when she spoke with the doctors and nurses, she showed a very quick and effective grasp of what they were talking about. He usually had no clue of what they were talking about because of all the medical specific jargon that they used, but Supergirl seemed to have no trouble at all conversing with them on the same level of understanding. No, he decided. While she was the most attractive of all the females on this plane (in his mind, and that was the most important to him), she was not a 'bimbo'. No, she was much more than everyone else that he had witnessed so far here. Indeed, she was more than all of them combined, he felt. But, just what was she? He was getting more and more curious about this blonde 'superheroine', and was looking more and more forwards to those times when she would visit him at the hospital. So much so, that he started to get upset when she would not show up in her normal times in the evening, when the hospital would close it's doors to all visitors, including the police (though, never for Supergirl).

Vladi decided that he had learned enough about the 'citizens' of San Francisco, and the city for the time being, and was now time to learn more about Supergirl. He was finally confident enough in his mystical abilities and control over his astral self to follow Supergirl, and to observe her and how her 'normal day' goes.

When Vladi Met Kara (pt 3)

Okay, now things start to get interesting...

Chapter Ten - Just What Does Normal Mean To A Superheroine?

The wizard named Vladimire could not recall when he had ever been in a physically unconscious state for this period of time. Normally, he would of performed a spell in order to bring himself out of that state, but as the hospital was taking care of him, he was satisfied to just explore with his astral self. Unfortunately, such a condition did prevent him from discovering his new world via taste and smell and touch, and hearing was hindered much like he had his head underwater. But, visually it was better, as that he was also able to view the auras of others.

Even inanimate objects had auras, Vladi noted, especially those that were electrical in nature. Rocks and plants even gave off residual radiations of energy that they absorbed from the sun or nearby energy sources, so everything seemed to have a faint glow of energy around them. Such were the energies that magic uses were able to manipulate for their purposes, it just depended upon the skill of the practitioner and the level of the energy that the item had. However, it was easier to see such energies while in an astral state than to effect those same energies mystically, at least he was finding it so on this world called Earth. He felt that it was more to do with his lack of understanding of this planet than by the lack of any magical properties that it may have, as he has discovered a number of very powerful lei lines of energy in San Francisco and it's region, and could only imagine that more of them were within the 'state' of California that the city San Francisco was a part of, in the 'country' of The United States, which was the nation which the land belonged to.

But, while all the energies seemed to have a commonality to them, being of the Earth and affected by that planets internal energies and the energies that it receives from it's star and it's place in space, the aura that he sees coming off Supergirl is unique. Not just in it's level of power, but also in it's 'taste and texture', as she is from another planet from another star system. Indeed, from his investigations, it is the difference between the two star systems that gives her such great powers and abilities on Earth, though at this time he is not exactly clear on how such things could be. He wasn't an expert in astrology or astronomy, but he could see that the truth lay in her experiences upon the Earth. Now he was looking forwards to following her and to see just how such experiences actually play out, in regards to the interplay of the energies of her, and her surroundings, and what (and who) she interacts with.

Supergirl didn't know why she was stopping by Saint Mary's anymore. The doctors and nurses had told her that they would keep a good look over him, and from all indications, there was nothing to show that they hadn't been giving the mysterious Mister Meyer their upmost attentions. They had also said that they would let her know if there was any changes to his condition, but she didn't point out to them that she wasn't exactly in the phone book. Unlike that dark crusader in Gotham City, she didn't have a dedicated signal light to alert her for when there was important information for her. In some ways, she thought that her super abilities was actually a hinderance, because people seem to assume that they (super powered folks) have some sort of super ESP, so that they know what is always going on in their minds.

Kara sighed as she lightly and absent-mindedly stroked her long fingers along the back of Vladi's hand, wishing that she did have such ESP, so that she could discover what was going on in the head of her mystery man. Was there anything left in there after his getting shot in the head? Fortunately, it was a glancing blow and that the bullet didn't penetrate his skull, but the human brain was a very mysterious organ, the doctors kept telling her. If only she could have one half of one percent of the omnipresent abilities that some people credited her and her cousin with having, then she would be able to actually help with this man. But, she felt helpless in that she was not able to do anything for him, other than hold his hand, night after night for a few minutes here and there. She took a tissue from the stand next to his hospital bed and dabbed away a tear.

"Oh, stop it, Kara. Why are you crying over someone you don't even know?" she chastised herself quietly. She knew that it wasn't for him that she was really crying, but for herself, and her inability to do anything. The most powerful woman on Earth, able to lift battleships, and to shrug off cannon shells, and melt steel girders with just a look, was unable to get a man to open his eyes from an endless slumber. She crumpled up the tissue and threw it into the room's garbage can and stood up. She decided that the best way to get over feeling sorry for herself was to head on out and do something to help someone else, since she was of no help to Mister Meyer. She shook her head at that as she went towards the roof, and then launched herself into the air, and headed towards the Tenderloin district.

Vladi easily kept up with the flying superheroine as she soared over San Francisco towards the north east. He didn't have to expend any energy with a flying spell as his astral form was able to move at the speed, and direction, of thought. He looked down at the nighttime landscape of the city, and observed the flow of the energies, and the different 'flavors' that existed in the various regions and areas. Some would have a more creative 'taste' of the auras where the museums and libraries were, while other sections were more about trade, and other parts of the city were more about fun and entertainment. The city gave it's energy, and took it's energy from it's people, and the city, like the people, was a living thing.

The wizard then noted that Supergirl was flying towards a section south of the famous "Nob Hill" which was always seeped in an aura of violence and hardship. He had not explored such places where he could tell that those with more evil in their hearts roamed the streets, preying on those weaker than themselves. He was able to see such auras on people, those that are more 'evil' in nature, and those were the type of people that fed this part of the city very strongly. He knew from his watching of the television machine that those that preyed on the weak were often called "criminals" and that they were guilty of breaking laws. Vladi was often times confused about 'crime' because it seemed like different people were treated different ways regarding breaking of laws, but he hadn't really been able to figure out that sociological aspect of San Francisco... yet.

Supergirl decided to check out the area of the Tenderloin district. It was the most heavily crime ladened area of San Francisco, a hot bed of robberies and assaults. Most of such things were completely beneath her abilities, but not every crime is committed by a super criminal or mastermind villain. Plus, every citizen of the city is needing of peace and security at all times, not just when the fate of the Earth was at stake.

The blonde bombshell soon was over Nob Hill and floated slowly over the darkened alleys of Tendernob (as it was sometimes called), and used her super hearing and keen eyesight to spot any wrong doings, unaware that she was being closely observed. Just then a couple of shots rang out, and Supergirl paused in mid-air and turned to locate the direction of the shooting when more shots were fired from a little ways away from the first, then the whole block seemed to erupt in gunfire.

"Another gang war," Supergirl said to herself and then flew down towards the fight faster than a speeding bullet, leaving Vladi's astral self far behind. Two groups of young gangsters, one from Little Saigon and the other from the a new gang that has been working to establish itself by first taking control of the drug trafficking of the Tenderloin. The gang from Little Saigon was not willing to give up their territory, and had brought some heavy firepower to keep their turf their own.

An invisible tornado whipped down the street, and the two gangs were momentarily blinded by the flying dust and debris that burst all about them, which the flying astral form of Vladi used to track where his flying superheroine target had went. He quickly went towards the sound of the yelling and cursing gang members, taking in the languages of Vietnamese on one side of the battle line, and English on the other. They no longer seemed to be cursing at their opponents, but about the strange storm that had come up and blinded them.

When they were finally able to see after wiping the dust and grains from their eyes, they were shocked to see Supergirl floating between them. The two gangs immediately turned their attentions away from their opponents and onto the enemy that threatened them all. Supergirl gave them a smirk as she floated several feet off the ground and the gunmen on either side of her started to fire at her instead of each other. Supergirl slowly turned in the air, and used her heat vision to melt the ends of the gun barrels as bullets bounced off her body. Men cried out as some were injured by ricocheting bullets and others injured by guns that exploded when their barrels were welded closed.

In moments a dozen men on either side of the battle line were writhing on the ground, holding various parts of their bodies. A stern look went across Supergirl's beautiful face as she quickly checked the wounded, then saw that no one had any serious injuries then concentrated on the few that were still on their feet. She saw that the English speaking skinheads were armed with modern military grade weapons, while the Vietnamese thugs were just armed handguns and a few older AKs and SKS rifles. Vladi watched in great interest the aura shades of the gunmen change from a steady red to being interlaced with yellow fear. Supergirl's aura was a fiery white with traces of noble blue within as her aura then shot through the red spots in the street, which suddenly flared yellow before slowly dying into a simmering orange as the men were all knocked unconscious by the Kryptonian Valkyrie.

The invisible wizard slowly wafted over the battle scene, quiet now but for some low moans and soft cursing from those men still conscious. He saw though that they were not able to do any thing further to hurt anyone else as Supergirl landed then imperiously walked past the groaning goons to the nearest payphone, and dialed in a special number that gave her direct access to police dispatch (without having to put in any coins) and told the dispatcher about the gang fight and that a van would be needed to be sent to her location, as well as a few ambulances.

Kara felt good when she hung up the phone. It wasn't much, but it was enough to keep her mind off of her inadequacies about the man she had left in the care of Saint Mary's hospital. She kept an eye on the gang members until the first pair of squad cars arrived on the scene, and with a brilliantly white toothed smile and a wave, the long legged heroine leapt into the sky, and flew towards the bay.

Chapter Eleven - Enter Matrix-Beta

Deep under the surface of the San Francisco Bay, a robot waited. It did not know how long it had been within the cold waters, but time did not mean anything to it as it spent its days going around the bay and collecting material from the sunken ships and pieces of abandoned equipment and tossed away garbage from the silk and muck to incorporate into it's body.

Matrix-Beta was a robot from a lost alien civilization. Lost because that information was within the damaged section of it's computer brain, that was damaged long ago when it fell from space to splash down into the bay. The few native indian inhabitants that saw the fireball, thought it was a sign from a god that was either pleased with them, or angry with them, depending upon the tribe.
There the robot lay for centuries, before it's self-repair programs detected metal nearby, when a paddle-boat frigate sank during a storm. The Beta sent out a number of smaller drones from within it's chest to gather up pieces of steel and pipe and to bring them back to the master robot and to use such items to repair it, starting with the injured section of it's head.

As time went on, the quality and type of the materials dropped into the bay from containers washed overboard ships to crashed aircraft to improve and enlarge the robot. Lately, there was high grade wiring and then circuitry which the drones were able to gather up and use to upgrade the robots various systems. They were also able to collect some radioactive waste that was in large drums to manufacture into a power source, and the Matrix-Beta was finally able to move on it's own, but keep itself deep underwater as it sent scout drones up to investigate the world around itself, taking and collecting vast amounts of information, especially in regards to warfare.

On occasion a robot would be caught in it's mission, and after a battle with the Earthly forces be crippled or destroyed. The Matrix-Beta was not concerned with such, as it was able to make many more of the various drones to replace the ones lost. However, those that captured such drones, were able to learn from the robots, just as the drones learned from the humans. Mostly such captured drones were confiscated by the United States government, though a few were captured by other organizations, and thus used to boost their own technological programs. One of those was captured and collected by The Council out of Chicago, who would eventually reverse engineer the robot to create a powerful enforcer for their gang (but that is another tale for Supergirl).

Soon, the alien computer brain was able to repair itself, which was the hardest function for the robot to perform, and soon was able to replace it's outer shell and structural components with a new metal that was created within it's internal miniature factory. Using the radioactive materials collected, it created an alloy of high grade steel with aircraft aluminum, which was then superheated with the nuclear material into an alloy it designated 'Tylenmium', which was able to withstand great forces, up to 12 million pounds of pressure per square inch, making it effectively invulnerable to damage.

Still, the robot sit within the muck of the bay, only sending out drones now and then to investigate it's surrounding or to seek out any new materials, but now seeking only those materials that were exceptional or remarkable. And thus it was, that one of the drones came upon a glowing green bowling ball that radiated an energy that until then had not been detected or investigated. The small drone carried the kryptonite artifact (that was last seen used in Adventure #400) back to the Matrix-Beta, which then incorporated it into itself. Then it discovered that the material was called kryptonite, as pieces of the destroyed planet Krypton were called, from the drones latest investigations, which coincidentally told the Beta that there were a couple of Kryptonians left alive on the planet Earth, one of them a female that was operating out of the San Francisco region.

The information was fed into the robot's computer brain, and an old till now abandoned sub-routine program came to the fore of the Matrix-Beta's functionality. To acquire and deliver other species to it's maker. Until now, none of the species of Earth have triggered this program so the giant robot was content to just stay underwater and continue to improve it's form and systems. Now, it finally had a program priority that would bring it out of the bay and into the light of San Francisco, and that was to defeat and capture Supergirl.

Chapter Twelve - You Say Robot, I Say Golem

Vladi saw the Matrix-Beta before Supergirl did. That was primarily because Supergirl was not looking for a threat to come up at her from under the water of the bay, while the wizard's aural vision was more attuned to the movements and changes of various energies as he followed the lithe form of the flying superheroine over the dark cold waters of the San Francisco Bay. He paused in mid-flight to look down at the waters, to better examine the energy building. He had not seen such an energy pattern before, but then he had never been over this section of the bay, so he did not know if such a thing was common for this particular spot.

The energy was much more powerful than he had seen outside of power plants, and had some signatures in common with some of the military vessels that he had seen coming into the bay on occasion under that spectacular golden bridge. Vladi momentarily thought about going down into the waters to investigate closer. It wasn't something that he normally did, because the humans very rarely did anything under the water on this planet, other than use it for some of there under-water military vessels called 'sub-mare-eens'. The humans were pretty much uncomfortable with doing anything under-sea, except transiting, though they did not have any problems building things on top of the waters, especially bridges or drilling platforms.

Just as Vladi was getting ready to go underwater, he saw that the large energy source suddenly sent out a number of high energy objects from it. Blinking with curiosity at this strange occurrence, he watched as the objects erupted from the water and shot up towards Supergirl. They were golems! At least, what he recognized as golems, though they did not have the magical signature of an animated creature that he normally would see around golems. They were not very big, only about three feet tall, though very thick and blocky, with short stubby legs and arms. It was made out of some sort of metal, that appeared to be steel but had a different energy 'taste' to it. Hot bluish flames shot from their feet, and their hands were made of three sharp and long fingers. They did not appear to have much as to facial features other than a slit for their mouths under two round glowing eyes. It was the eyes that really interested him, in that they were glowing a very brilliant emerald green, with a very odd energy signature. The energy almost seemed to be similar to what he saw coming from Supergirl, but only in it's underlying type of commonality form. The green energy mystified him, and he wanted to examine it closer but there was no time to leisurely investigate anything as things started to happen very quickly.

Kara heard the water surge behind her and then the whooshing of rockets as she pulled up in a hover and spun around, to see a handful of robots bursting out of the waters of the bay. It didn't take her long to determine that the small metal humanoid flying robots were aggressive because round portholes opened up at their chests, and they each launched three missiles at her from within them. Supergirl's long blonde hair whipped about in the wind that gusted over the waters as she frowned towards the robots that were rapidly advancing towards here. However, the missiles were flying even faster in corkscrew fashion straight towards her. Two brilliant red lines shot from dazzling blue eyes and in a moment half of the missiles had exploded from Supergirl's laser like heat vision.

The missiles were small, only about a foot or so long and no thicker than a thumb, but they were still very powerful, as the alien designed warheads used radioactive material that the Matrix-Beta had scrounged up from the ocean depths. Supergirl wasn't too worried about them, though did go into a twisting flight to avoid the quick darts of destruction, which exploded when their proximity fuses were triggered. The superheroine avoided half of those explosions, but four of the missiles exploded very close to her despite her flight to escape.

"UUUugggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!! AAAaaaaaauuuhhhhhhh!!" Supergirl was surprised by the amazingly strong impact of the explosions that rocked her lithe body as the missiles bracketed her. Vladi watched in amazement as the previously invulnerable blonde goddess was suddenly slammed into a standstill in mid-air, her spectacular body twisting and arching from the blasts impacts.

Kara shook her head to clear the cobwebs that fluttered across her senses. She wasn't really hurt by the explosions as much as caught off guard by them. She was shocked that such small missiles would be able to rock her the way that they did. Just then the five small flying robots converged on her and slammed into her from different angles before she could prepare herself.

"Ggggggggggguuuuuuuuuuuhhhhhh!!" Supergirl grunted at the impact of the robots that quickly clamped around her long legs and onto her forearms, as the fifth slammed into her back then wrapped it's arms around her neck. The superheroine then brought her arms together with great force, and though the robots were strongly built, they were not able to resist being used against each other as clubs, and the two robots on her arms disintegrated into a thousand pieces which dropped into the bay. Supergirl started to feel a bit funny, and recognized it as the effect of green kryptonite. She looked down at the robot on the front of her right leg and saw that it's eyes were glowing green, and knew then that she was in even bigger trouble.

Vladi moved about the battle scene in his intangible state, unable to do anything more than watch and listen as Supergirl used her super-breath to freeze the robot on her right leg, encasing it and her leg in a block of ice. She then slammed her left boot into the block, which exploded into a multitude of icy shards which then splashed down to the water below. The invisible wizard then saw that Supergirl's troubles were not decreasing but actually increasing as he saw a huge giant metal golem lift up from the dark waters of the San Francisco Bay. He could see that the smaller golems were copies of this master golem, which Vladi could see was just radiating with more power than he had seen in any single creature on this world so far, with the exception of Supergirl.

"Uurrrrrrkkkkkkkkkkk," Supergirl felt the robot at her back tightening it's grip around her neck, locking on to her like a tick would latch onto a mangy dog, and pulled her head back so that she could no longer use her vision or breath abilities against the robot on her left left. So far the kryptontic effect was minimal on her from the two remaining robots, but she didn't want to take any chances with them. The Kryptonian superheroine then turned and launched herself at high speed towards a construction site that was across the bay where a dock warehouse was being built.

Vladi turned himself and flew after Supergirl, but was just behind the Matrix-Beta, who Supergirl had not detected yet, as she was distracted by the two golems hanging on to her back and leg. The wizard was very impressed by the superheroines warrior spirit, and was giving the creatures a good fight, and already had destroyed three of the five golems. But, he feared that the giant golem following the blonde beauty was going to be much more trouble than it's smaller copies. He didn't think that she was fleeing the huge golem, as she seemed to have an intent upon her visage before she turned away from him, and her aura, while showing some colorations of worry, were not streaked with the yellow of fear. Yet.

Chapter Thirteen - Like A Wrecking Ball

Supergirl hated to cause undue destruction to property, but many times when facing mighty adversaries such things were unavoidable. Thus, she steered the battle towards a place which was clear of people and under construction. She could of stayed over the bay, with nothing at threat there but a possible passing boat, but the robot slowly strangling her was not giving her many options. So, she headed towards San Leandro and the small jut of land that was just south of Bay Farm Island where there was some new land developing taking place.

She saw the steel girding framework of the warehouse construction and tilted her body just so as she rocketed through the steel beams, and was satisfied by a resounding clanging sound and a sudden feel of relief as the robot hanging onto her back was knocked off. Now, to take care of the last leech, Kara thought, as she swooped down to float by a cement mixer. With a kick of her shapely long left leg, she smashed the remaining robot into the massive bell of the truck. The force of the kick knocking the truck over and sending it into the bay, with the robot imbedded into the steel of the concrete mixer.

"Whew!! That takes care of that!" Supergirl exclaimed with satisfaction, before she saw with dread that a huge robot of the same type of the smaller ones land with a earth shaking thud in front of her. It was easily twice as tall as she was, and she knew that it would take much more to take out this robot than the other five.

"And now, to take care of YOU!" Kara then spat out as she launched herself at the robot at super-speed, her fists out to knock it's huge head off of it's massive shoulders. Vladi arrive just a moment after the robot did and watched as Supergirl slammed up into the robot, but was surprised to see that after kicking a thirty ton truck half-way into the San Francisco Bay, she was only able to make the giant robot take a couple of steps back from the immense force, the impact of which shook the ground for blocks.

"What the... oooOOOOOOFFFFFFFFFF!!!" Supergirl gasped as she was grabbed around her trim muscular middle by one of the giant's huge metal hands. She was amazed that she wasn't able to more then make the slightest of dents into the the metal of the robot's head. It obviously wasn't made of just steel she realized then as she brought her hands down to the hand holding her, to apply pressure against the crushing fingers.

"Oh no... you don't... you ... big... metal... ape!!" the sexy superheroine said as she slowly pried the fingers apart and away from her body. It was obvious that the robot was very strong, and she was still feeling the effects of the kryptonite that was in the other robots. The Matrix-Prime shot out a pale yellow light from it's eyes, and used that ray to perform a detailed scan on the struggling heroine. Supergirl did not feel anything of the strange ray that bathed her body, but Vladi was able to see that the energy that came from the golems eyes went through the blonde beauties body and reflected back to the golem, who was apparently using that strange energy to learn more about Supergirl before she could break it's grip.

Kara decided to try a new direction in her battle, and 'flew' down, and burrowed herself into the foundation of the construction site, bringing the giant robot's hand down with her, which then got stuck in the thick concrete, and she was able to make her escape from the robot's hold and it's strange light from it's eyes.

Matrix-Beta was bent over at it's waist, and it's giant computer brain tried to calculate the strange behavior of it's target, which suddenly popped up behind it.

"I hope this hurts you more than it hurts me!!" Supergirl said and then brought her right foot up in a massive kick, right between the robots massively thick metal legs. She knew that it wasn't a matter of kicking a guy in the genitals, since it was a robot, but still a kick in the ass was a kick in the ass, and a glorious super-bright smile lit up her lovely face as she was rewarded by the robot being lifted up and then flipped over onto it's back, landing on an equipment shed and flattening it.

The Matrix-Beta was caught by surprise and off balance, and thus her kick was much more effective against it than her earlier blow to it's head. The robot brought it's head up as it lay on it's back and targeted the Kryptonian female as she lifted up into the air, and brought it's right arm up and out of the ground where it had been caught, with a huge chunk of concrete and rebar in it's hold, which it flung at Supergirl, as it's alien computer brain worked out the information that it gathered from it's scan of her form a moment ago.

"Oh really?! Is that the best you can do??" Supergirl asked in mocking tone, as she punched the two ton piece of concrete that the robot flung at her, blasting the giant slab into grey dust. She then rocketed up and then circled around the site, using the billowing cloud of the concrete dust as a shield to block the robot's view of her.

Vladi watched from floating overhead as his flying angel turned into a streak of red and blue, which made a long sweeping turn out into the bay and then back again. It was hard for him to keep track of the superheroine as she gained speed, and only because of the distance between he and her was he able to keep his eyes on the female meteor. He watched as the giant golem made it to it's feet and turned as it tried to locate where Supergirl had went, as she was no longer where it thought she was when the cloud of dust dissipated. The invisible wizard saw the golem move much more quickly than it's size would indicate as it turned towards the bay as Supergirl came in like a bolt of lightning.

Matrix-Beta's advanced alien radar system had detected the flying Kryptonian as it stood up and turned towards it's target. Within it's chest the internal robot factory churned, and new mini-robots were created to new specifications that the Beta calculated out from it's earlier scans, as well as the information gathered from earlier scouting missions. It discovered that the small radioactive power source that it had discovered months earlier was actually kryptonite, and that Kryptonians were weakened by the radiation of certain varieties of the destroyed planet which they came from. The type that the robot had within itself was of the green radiation variety, of which Supergirl would be extremely vulnerable to, with it weakening her and removing her super powers. In time, such a material could cause the death of her, but that is not what the robot wanted. Thus, small pieces of the glowing green bowling ball within it's form were sliced into small round and translucent discs, which were placed within the chest cavities of the robotic copies that it manufactured in it's chest.

Supergirl finished her wide sweep at her speed and was was rocketing back towards the giant robot, using her growing speed to add force to her next blow that she aimed to strike against her foe. She flew low to the water, and twin rooster-tails of water shot up behind her along the shock wave of her passing. Full red lips drew back over perfect teeth in a determined grimace as she used her super-quick reflexes to adjust her flight, her small but unbreakable fists closed and before her as the point of her super-spear, as she aimed to crash punch through the robot's giant torso.

"That's it... you bit metal ape... don't move... an inch," Kara muttered to herself as she saw the robot rapidly increasing in size in her sight. She had aligned herself so that when she drove a hole through the robot that she would fly straight on through, and that there was nothing immediately behind it that she would fly into, but instead fly along the Main Street that ran east through the industrial area there.

"Damn..." she then exclaimed as the instant that she was expecting to crash through the robot, it was no longer there. Matrix-Beta had calculated her speed and direction and closing rate and then
simply stepped aside as Supergirl flashed beside it. She flew half a mile past the robot by the time that she was able to slow her flight and to pull up and then turn around again, to see that the robot's chest was opening up and then five more miniature robots darted from inside into the air.

"Not more of you little jokers..." Supergirl sighed, as she looked around her for something to use to her advantage as the five smaller robots split apart, and flew towards her at high speed, to come at her from left, right, above, below, and behind. Using her super-sight she saw that they had the glowing green eyes of their predecessors, but unlike the first group of five, this handful made her skin grow cold. For where the first set had missiles that shot from the portholes in their chest, these five instead had glowing green discs in their chests, and she knew that they would be much more dangerous, and that she would have to take them out fast, and at a distance... before they got to her! Unfortunately, she saw how fast they were flying to box her in, and knew that her time was rapidly running out in which to take the battle to them, before the robots brought the battle to her!

If I were you I would wait between postings to build up a readership as its getting pretty long and that often puts people off. (aint read it yet because I haven't had chance)

Well, that was my conundrum, tallyho. Wait, and possible NEVER complete finishing the posting, or put it into separate posts (seems like that is a 50/50 proposition), or slowly but within a couple of days, put the whole 4 part story in post, and thus get it over with and done.

Since no comments until I am almost done with the postings, I am going to complete the story posts... but will go slower on the follow up story to this one.

Or, should I delete (unsubscribe??) the topic, and do over, with separate parts to different topic posts ??

I wouldn't delete it, but just have a care to your audience and how it scans for them. I did a 39 part story - posted an update roughly every 4 days - got 40,000 views. If I had posted it all at once I would have had ...er...me reading it!

A lot of people can find the time to dip into a chapter, now and then, but when confronted with a lot of text, regardless of how good the story is, it can seem to be a chore to read it for many.

I know you have been around a while and know your trade (and its great to have you finally appearing here btw after 8 yrs a member! Hope to see more of you now you are contributing) so this feels a bit like teaching my grand mother to suck eggs (if you have that phrase over there) but I would consider posting future stories in the individual chapters rather than extended posts of several chapters at once, rapidly followed by another extended post with multiple chapters. Think of it like the serials , Batman in the sixties etc - build up the anticipation , win your audience over with the installments rather than just presenting it as a large coup de grace. Get them thinking about what might happen next and make them eager to find out

Thats just my opinion, doesn't mean I'm right! I'll post a comment once I read it.
Good luck with your writing, and maybe consider finishing off some other stories to post here.

Alrighty.... I will hold off on posting the conclusion. (Well, there we go... post 75% and then... let them stew in an... ti... ci... pation!)

Thanks Tallyho

Wow this is simply brilliant! It's such an interesting, well thought out story without being too sexual or over the top. Thanks for taking the time to write this. Vladi is also an incredibly well-written character and I really enjoyed reading sections of the story from his perspective. I'm glad that Vladi is not the villain, as I'd initially thought. Is he your own character?

And the boss fight!!! It was awesome seeing Supergirl take on a powerful foe and not being able to easily overpower her opponents as she usually does( she's Supergirl, after all). I'm a fan of seeing Supergirl receive a beating rather than having her powers taken away by Kryptonite so it's great that you managed to incorporate both elements into the story. Hopefully we'll see Supergirl resume the fight with the giant robot in the next chapter without being hampered by Kryptonite :).

Thank you for sharing your story with us.

Thank you SupergirlTheStongest!

Yes, Vladi is my own character. I always tried to play him (in various r/p chats) more as a 'complicated' person than just 'evil'. In fact, I played him, as in AD&D terms from my old playing days, as 'Chaotic Neutral'.

Supergirl is my favorite of all heroines, so it is obvious that my character would have a certain 'something' for her. But, what really got him to lust (love??) for the Maid of Steel?? This is a story of what is the basis for his great infatuation (and a quite kink involved one, at that) for Supergirl.

Now, I personally DO love kryptonite, and how it weakens Supergirl. But, in this story, I didn't want to get it involved right away, in that I wanted to be 'honest' in calling Supergirl a superheoine. I always thought that the greater the heroine, the greater the villain, and each should be honed against each other. So, simply just zapping her out of the sky with kryptonite beams and capturing her would be entertaining for some of us, it would not be truly gratifying as it would be lessening of Supergirl as a dynamic force in her own right.

In any case, kryptonite has been introduced, and kryptonite will be used in the final chapter. Sorry to say that but, hopefully it will be done in such a manner in that will be honest to the story.

And now, for the conclusion of ...

Chapter Fourteen - There's A Train Wreck Coming!

Vladi watched as more golems flew out of the chest of the giant golem below him. To him, the thing seemed to be magical, in principle, but from his observations, it did not appear to actually be magical in practice. He chewed his lip in thought as he paid more attention to the processes that the giant golem was going through, than the actual peril that Supergirl was now facing. There were so many things happening at one time, and he was finding it difficult to keep his mental attentions on any one thing. He decided that he would try to investigate the way that the giant golem was able to make more of the smaller golems from within it later, and that he would pay more attention to his feminine guardian.

Kara, of course, did not know that Vladimire was watching her from his invisible astral state, and even if she did, it would not matter to her as all her attentions at the moment was to defeat the growing number of robots that were facing her. Before the five flying robots got to her, she saw something below her and then dived towards the ground, landing near a number of stacked rail ties and tracks. The heroine picked up a thirty foot track segment, and balanced the twelve hundred pound steel as she lifted up to get some clearance with the rail then threw it like a javelin towards the nearest robot. It was not able to avoid the streaking steel as it punched through it fore to aft, and the robot fell sparking to the ground to impact into dozens of pieces.

Supergirl turned and swooped down to grab another of the long rails, and flew up and away from the four that were closing in on her. She told herself not to concern herself with the green glow at their chests, and to get the job done of destroying them, and she suddenly turned herself around and flew the forward two robots, closing the distance before they could surround her, and using the rail as a lance, drove it into the body of the one to her right, and then swung it towards the other to her left as she soared through the midst of the robots.

The speared robot sparked and slumped into the steel that punctured it, but the second was only given a glancing blow as it darted upwards at the last moment, so that Supergirl only clipped it's stubby legs with it's deceased brother, causing the robot to spin wildly into the distance.

The flying superheroine was larger than the miniature robots, but was quicker and faster than they were, because of their thick stocky build, and that they only had rockets (albeit powerful) in their feet to give them thrust. They also were not as maneuverable as the lithe heroine, who now had only two of the small flying robots to worry about. She suddenly stopped in mid-air and twisted around, and flung the rail at the closest of the robots as it was turning about, and was satisfied by the loud clanging sound as the rotating rail with the impaled robot slammed into it's chest. The two robots twirled down with the rail to splash into the bay, leaving her with one last small robot to deal with.

Matrix-Beta was not standing still and just watching as Vladi the Wizard was, but was flying towards the scene to get itself closer to the action as one by one it's tiny clones were being destroyed by the nubile Kryptonian. It was recording everything that it's clones were experiencing, using such information to make later models of it's clones that much better and more efficient.

Supergirl was now in a looping and twisting dog-fight with the last of the mini-robots, which was now sending out brilliant green beams from it's chest plate towards the weaving and juking superheroine, who returned her own fire in the way of dual rays of steel melting heat from her eyes.
Kara could not get a good solid bead on the little robot as it's green kryptonite ray was keeping her on the move so that she could not finish off her metal opponent. And, with each passing moment, she knew her odds were lessening as she saw the large robot getting closer. She also knew that the one robot that she had batted away was probably not destroyed, and that the one that was knocked into the bay probably would be back before too long. She dove and turned and looped to avoid the green blasts, but the near misses were still close enough to her for her to feel the draining effect of the kryptonite upon her strength and abilities.

As Matrix-Beta closed in on the darting Supergirl, it was busy calculating her flight characteristics and her pattern of avoidance. It then activated it's beam weapon, and tho it was not of kryptonite like it's drones, it was still a very powerful beam of concussive energy.

"GGGGGuuuuuuuhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!" Supergirl cried out as the beam from the Beta's chest plate slammed into her from behind, throwing her off her flight path, and into the glowing green energy beam of the small robot chasing her. The force of the concussive energy was enough to tear her bright red cape into several streamer like pieces, as the alien energy was more than a dozen broadsides of a Missouri class battleship.

"AAAAAAAAAhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh," she groaned as the kryptonite energy wracked her lithe form, and sapping her of her power of flight. The stunned superheroine dropped to the ground, to land heavily on the heavily tracked land of the rail yard, with the small robot following close behind her.

The giant Beta robot directed the other two remaining robots, which had now made it back to the area after being clobbered by Supergirl, to join the other small drone with debilitating the stricken superheroine, it's alien computer mind knowing that the best path to her defeat lay with removing her powers via the green kryptonite energy of the drones primary chest weapons.

Kara, now up on her hands and knees, was having a hard time in her attempt to get to her feet, as the small robot hovered over her, and kept the glowing green beam of kryptonic energy shining down on her.

"Must....oohhhhhhhh... get.... away .... from .... uuuuhhhhhh... here...," she moaned as she looked for a way out of her plight. She was not able to fly at the time, and knew that if she didn't get out of the field of green energy that she soon would not be able to move at all. She saw a number of parked rail cars, and pushed herself forwards towards them, scrambling on her hands and feet and knees. Each foot travelled was harder and more painful than the last, but finally she was able to half dive and half roll under the nearest of the cars, getting herself out of the agonizing beam of kryptonite energy.

Vladi followed her with his astral form, his heart racing as he watched the drama unfold below him. He was feeling as if he was actually there and involved, but he knew that wasn't really the case with him, but he was having a hard time understanding why he was feeling such an ... excitement. And, he wasn't feeling that way when she was in combat with the golems, but only started to feel that strange beating in his breast when the creatures started to get the upper hand over her in the chaotic three dimensional battle field.

The Matrix-Beta was joined by the other two smaller droids as it came to a stop in the air over the line of parked railcars. The other beam robot was slowly cruising up and down the line as it searched for the blonde superheroine that had disappeared from it's targeting computers. The robots knew that Supergirl was hiding from them, and the Beta calculated that it was so that she could regain her strength and powers.

The hidden wizard watched as the largest of the golems moved itself to one side of the line of the long metal boxes on wheels, while the three smaller copies of it flew to place them over them. Then from the chest of the giant golem a beam of energy shot out, and slammed into the last metal box of the line of a dozen. Vladi heard the metal protesting as the box was crushed as it was lifted and tossed off the ground where it was resting on the metal rails. Supergirl was not there. The golems then moved to the next metal box, and another beam of power was shot from the giant golem's chest, and that car was hammered off the rails to land in a smoldering heap a hundred yards away.
Again, no Supergirl.

Kara crawled as fast as she could along under the cars as she heard one after another being blasted off the tracks behind her. She was still very weak from the earlier blasting that she had taken, but was feeling better as the steel of the cars was between her and the flying robots. She thought for a moment about tunneling to gain her time, but didn't feel that she had the ability to develop the spinning speed and thrust needed to get herself very far. No, at this time it meant to crawl to gain time. And, as car after car was being knocked away and wrecked, she knew that her time was rapidly running out.

Chapter Fifteen - Supergirl Is Secured For Delivery

Supergirl's time ran out when the Matrix-Beta robot quickly blasted two rail cars off the tracks, one after the other, the first displaying her red boots as she scurried up under the car before it, then that car was soon knocked off the tracks to reveal the svelte heroine in her torn up cape before them. Now, instead of one drone with a kryptonite projector in it's chest, she faced three of them, and they did not waste any time in catching her in three of the emerald green rays.

Vladi watched from his invisible state wide mouthed and google eyed at the drama unfolding on the ground below him. Supergirl arched and twisted and tossed on the rail tracks as the glowing green beams wracked her body. The three smaller robots situated themselves equal distance apart in a hover over the writhing superheroine to keep her bathed equally from her left shoulder, her right shoulder, and from her feet. The Matrix-Beta slowly moved over the smaller drones until it was floating just over the groaning heroine with the goal of assuring her defeat.

"AAAAAAAAAAAuuuuuuuuuuuurrrrgggghhhhhhhhhhhhh," Supergirl cried out as the concussive blast ray from the Beta's chest slammed into her from above. The blow was particularly devastating since she was weakened from the three kryptonite rays from the robot's drones. The blast lifted her completely off the ground and flipped her about, holes being blasted from the force into her blue body dress.

Again and again the giant robot blasted the helpless Supergirl with it's powerful chest weapon, blasting more pieces of red and blue away from her uniform and displaying more and more of her lithe body. The astral wizard watched as her cape was blasted away as she contorted on the rough ground below him. There was nothing he could do to help her, and indeed, at this time, he didn't want to, even if he could. He didn't really think much on the strangeness on why he wouldn't help her, if possible, because the of the way that the dance that she was performing under the golems relentless attacks was mesmerizing to him.

Kara bucked and arched and thrashed under the kryptonite beams. Each second seemed like an eternity to her, an eternity of green pain and terrible draining weakness. Time and time and time again she was reminded of what invulnerability was protecting her from as she was hammered relentlessly from the large robot's horrible concussive beams, which tore and ripped groans and cries from her just as they tore and ripped her once proud costume.

"Uuuhhhhhhh aaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh ooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh," the hapless heroine moaned as she was made weaker and weaker by the ongoing kryptonite onslaught. Each concussive blast shredded her costume moved her closer and closer to unconsciousness, and she knew that unless someone came to help her very soon, she would be defeated by the merciless robots.

Vladi floated as close as he could to watch the affair unfold with a perverse fascination. He wasn't worried about getting too close and getting in the way, as much as he didn't want to get too close where he would miss something on the outskirts of the action. So, he floated just far enough off the ground to keep all the golems in view, while watching Supergirl writhe and twist slowly below. His heart was racing as he saw more and more of her spectacular body being bared by the horrible blasts that blew apart more and more of her costume. Her long red gloves where just a few strands of material that barely held onto her forearms and a few fingers. Her thigh high red boots were in a little bit better condition because they were leather, but they were also starting to fall apart at the seems and revealing more and more of her long muscular thighs and calves. Her blue dress like tunic was badly damaged, so that one perfect breast was revealed, as were her abs of her remarkably flat and perfect stomach. The wizard felt a tingling flowing through him, and knew that if he was in corporal form, he would be sporting a gigantic erection.

The Matrix-Beta stopped his concussive attacks on the near unconscious superheroine, and launched another pair of drones from it's robot factory within it's chest, which flew down to join the other three drones. However, these small robots were not duplicates of the kryptonite energy shooting drones, but were made for a different purpose. The others were made to depower and defeat Supergirl, these were made to capture and restrain the Kryptonian superheroine. They were of the same size as their brothers, and looked similar, but these had two sets of arms to go along with their rocket footed legs. One set of arms ended with gripping 'hands', while the second set of arms ended with pincers as well as special metal extruders.

"Nooooo..... uuhhhhh.... wha... what is... going on??" the dazed superheroine gasped as she was grabbed by one of the new robots at her shoulders and lifted up into the air. The robot was behind her and easily controlled her by holding onto her upper arms. The three beam projecting drones took up positions to either side of the weakly writhing Supergirl, with the third positioning in front of her to keep her caught in the midst of the three intersecting kryptonite rays. The second binder robot then came up from underneath and took ahold of her ankles, so that she was now held helplessly by the two robots in mid-air.

"Uuuuughhhhh... No... oohhhh... stop... can't.... get... uuuhhhhh... free..." Supergirl tried to keep her wits about her, but she was feeling so very weak. The kryptonite rays seemed to be lessening in their intensity now that she was being held above the ground, but she did not have near the amount of strength needed to do anything more than squirm. She was glad that she was in the middle of a mostly abandoned work area in the middle of the night so that no one could see her, since the robots holding her with one set of hands were removing the remains of her damaged costume with their other arms, using sharp pinchers to cut away the rest of her red gloves and boots, and what little was left of her blue tunic, leaving her only in a pair of red bikini panties.

Vladi moved in closer, as he saw Supergirl stripped to nothing but a pair of tiny bottoms. His heart was beating harder in his non-corporeal chest as he stared at the blonde superheroine as she slowly squirmed in the firm hold of the golems metal hands. He was recognizing that the green energy from the chest of the flying golems was making Supergirl weak, and could see how her energy signature was greatly reduced under the strange green power from the golems. It was fascinating to him, how someone so powerful on this planet could be so weakened. But the thing that was most fascinating to him was that the whole scenario was arousing him greatly.

The wizard's arousal grew when he saw the golem hold Supergirl's upper body use it's second set of arms to pull her arms behind her back, and pressed her wrists together. Then, from extruders between the pincers came out a strand of metal strapping, which it wrapped around her wrists. The strapping was then welded together to form a single band around the Kryptonians wrists, the pincers having a bright sparking coming from one of the tips to melt the metal together. The golem then finished off by using it's razor sharp pincer to trim off the end of the remaining strap to make the restraining band neat and clean.

"uuuhhhhhhh.... no.... aaaaaaahhhhhhh... stopp.... so... uhhhh.... tight...," Kara groaned as she felt the heat at her wrists by the welding of the metal strap to create a unbreakable metal band. She was finding it so very hard to keep her eyes open, let alone trying to look around her to try to figure out her situation. She felt another band going around her ankles, and then the brief heat through the metal as that robot welded the strap and snipped off the end of the metal to make a solid band around her ankles. At least she gave herself the comfort that if they were binding her, then they were making a point of capturing her, and not killing her outright. With the kryptonite and kinetic attacks that she had been put through, it would of been all too easy for the robots to kill her. But, now she wondered what lay ahead for her. However, she was finding it hard to think too far ahead as more pain came to her as she felt bands going around her legs above her knees, as another band was looped around her arms, then tightened above her elbows to pull them tightly together.

"AAaaaaauuuuhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh," Supergirl groaned as Vladi saw her elbows and knees being bound tightly together. Though he was in spirit form, he was feeling a great sense of physical discomfort from within as he was getting more and more sexually excited by the superheroine's plight. He was familiar with restraints and captivity from earlier times and places, but those were cases of holding others in place, so that they could not escape a coming judgement. However, at no time till now had he been so dramatically impacted by bondage. He didn't consider the implications or the whys or wherefores of the new feelings, only that they existed. Supergirl being captured and weakened and bound was stimulating him like nothing has in decades... centuries even!

Matrix-Beta directed the binding of Supergirl. The straps were of thin steel that the drones were able to expel from within them, much like it expelled copies of itself. The miniature helpers had the lithe form of the superheroine well in hand, and though the straps were not of kryptonite as it's programing gave the highest priority to, the steel was more than strong enough to restrain her in her weakened state... as long as the projector drones kept her within their kryptontic energy field. The Beta's computer brain, however, was still working on contacting its owner to give it a destination on where to transport its captive, so it calculated that a secondary site would be needed to keep Supergirl at while it awaited further instructions with her disposition.

"Uuhhhhh.... ahhhhhhhhhhhh.... so.... tight.... ooohhhhhh...," Kara moaned as she was bathed in the emerald green rays of the trio of robots surrounding her as she felt more bands being placed around her body. She didn't think that anything more was needed to keep her helpless, but it was obvious that the robots were not taking any chances with the superheroine as a new band was put around her long legs at mid-thigh, as another band went around her upper body, just above her firm jutting breasts, to lock her arms tightly against her torso. She gasped as the robot then fastened a final strap around her waist, pulling the steel in tightly so that she sucked her stomach in as much as she could before it welded the strap to make a band that held her arms tightly to her back. Now it was hard for her to get a good breath after all this straining and exertion from the kryptonite, which was only making her weaker.

The Beta then flew over and took a hold of Supergirl by her ankles in one of it's massive metal hands, and the helpless heroine was held dangling upside down over the train tracks while the two binding drones went back into the chest cavity of their giant master, to be broken down and recycled by the internal factory for whatever the Matrix-Beta had need for later.

Vladi saw that the giant golem was now flying off with the near naked Supergirl and was about to follow when he felt a sudden internal pulling against him.

Chapter Sixteen - Vladi Saves The Day

"Noooooooooooooooooooo!!!," Vladi cried out as he jerked awake, and sat up quickly as he came awake in the hospital. A wave of dizziness washed over him, and he quickly lay back down again to regain his senses, taking in the sights and sounds of the strange environment that he found himself in. There were a number of tubes and wires that ran from to machines which flashed and beeped at him, and he removed the needles from his arm and groin and the item clamped over his finger, which caused the machines to clammer even louder.

The room had a strange smell, and was fairly dark, though a bright light shone in from an open doorway. He saw that there was a window and that from view outside that the sun was making its presence known as it started to rise up against the eastern horizon. The view was much different now that he was in his physical form, and he was not able to see the various energies that he had been viewing just moments before while in his astral form.

He sat up again, slower this time, and pulled the light coverings off him, to see that he had been reclothed in some strange tunic which was completely open in the back, except where it was closed with a few ties. He felt a wetness against him and looked down and saw that he was bleeding from where he pulled out the thickest of the needles, and absentmindedly cast a minor spell of healing upon himself, closing up the wound immediately.

"Mister Meyer! You're up!! You're not supposed to be up!" a woman dressed in a light green smock and matching pants stated with some alarm as she barged into the room, and took quick note of the protesting machines and that her patient was now standing up and out of the bed after being in a coma for so long. "I mean, it's good that you are awake! But, you really have to lay back down so I can have the doctor look at you," the girl quickly said as she took ahold of Vladi's nearest arm and tried to sit him back down onto the hospital bed. He took in what she said and determined from her actions that she would be a nurse, who were skilled assistants of the doctors who were the primary healers of this world.

"No, I am fine, thank you, Nurse," the wizard answered as he gently took his arm away from the nurse and started towards the doorway. His language skills were now set to his environment and he was able to converse readily with those around him. He knew he still had much to learn about this world, but as it was now, he was more than ready to face it with his skills and knowledge as a wizard.

First off he needed to get some better clothes on him, as he was feeling quite the 'draft' from his rear, so he conjured himself up a set of clothes to replace his hospital gown. The nurse yelped and jumped away from him, knocking over a metal stand that held a number of plastic bags with tubes running from them. The wizard was now dressed in all black, from tall leather boots over the legs of black pants, a black long sleeve shirt with an open shirt, and a black jacket over that. He quickly patted the various pockets to make sure that they were filled with his normal accoutrements for mage craft. He ignored the nurse as he stalked out of the hospital room and into a hallway that led to more of the same type of rooms that he was in.

Vladi heard the nurse calling for a Mister Meyer again, and finally figured out that they though his name was Meyer. He had no idea why they would think that, and put that away from his mind as he put his thoughts to locating Supergirl. He brought up a dimensional door of blue spinning energy before him and stepped through before medical personnel could converge on him, and they were shocked into stunned disbelief as the roiling vortex of energy "popped" closed behind the mysterious Mr. Meyer.

Vladi stepped out of the other end of the doorway, and onto the hospital's roof, where he had a much better look of the city that was just starting to be greeted by the morning sun. But, he knew that right now, he needed different eyes to see with, eyes that would better see the lines of the various energies that flowed over and around and through the city of San Francisco, much like the vision that he was awarded by the planet when he first came to this dimension. He closed his eyes and concentrated his inner-self to reconnect with that ability, and before long he felt a tingling in his eyes, and he opened them to see that he was rewarded once again with that special sight.

The mage slowly looked around for the major landmarks that he had seen from his astral journey, and when he had determined the correct bearing to his last location, started to concentrate his vision on the energy pathways and signatures. Normally, Supergirl would stand out quite prominently because of her great power, but now that she was weakened by that other energy that he had seen the golems use, he would have to look for that energy source, instead of hers.

Though he was above ground level on the roof of Saint Mary's hospital, he knew that he had to get higher, so he cast upon himself a spell of levitation and rose slowly skyward. It was easier to hold such a spell than a flight spell when he was concentrating on finding a particular energy output in a sea of energy that came from people and vehicles, power plants and generators, electrical devices and power lines. Plus, it was easier to see over the mass of tall buildings that blocked his vision across the San Francisco Bay, where he had last seen the battle between the glorious superheroine vision and the blocky ugly metallic golems.

He concentrated on focusing more on the area of the construction to the east and south of his location, in the area of the Bay Farm Island, where he recalled was a place where flying machines had gone to and from as being a place that he recalled from his astral flight. He then was able to pick out residual pieces of energy left over from the battle that took place a bit south and east of the landmark, and willed himself to begin to slowly start to move in that direction, as he tried to follow the pieces of energy to where Supergirl, or the golems could be, for he knew that where the golems where, Supergirl was sure to be, as well, as their captive.

The city was still much asleep, though there were a few vehicles that were starting to move about on the roads and water and airways of San Francisco as those that provided services to the populace started to make their ways to their jobs before the majority of the citizens got out of bed. Bleary sleep filled eyes were more concerned with the path before them than to the man in black that slowly moved across the sky across The Bay towards the rising sun.

Meanwhile, the Matrix-Beta had found a building that showed little recent human activity, and after easily making a hole in the warehouse's roof, it flew down with it's bound prisoner to land on a wide open space within the dimly lit and dusty building. The three drones followed soon after, quickly taking place around the giant robot to keep Supergirl in the midst of their green energy rays. The Beta robot saw a dangling chain with a hook at one end descending from a pulley nearby, and moved to attach the heroines banded ankles to the ready hook, to leave the beautiful Kryptonian suspended upside down from the warehouses ceiling, twelve feet above the grime covered concrete floor.

The giant robot had been unsuccessful in it's attempts to make contact with it's makers, and determined that it would have to gain more altitude for it's antennae to get a better signal. Thus it's computer brain made the decision to launch into space to get itself out of the Earth's magnetic field, and thus better able to send and receive messages. It then launched itself out of the warehouse and into the morning sky, and aimed itself towards space, leaving the three smaller drones to keep the captive Supergirl within their fields of kryptontic energy.

The search wizard spotted a flow of energy that was not similar to the normal flows of energy, in that while the normal flows of energy were horizontal along the Earths various byways, this flow was vertical. And, that it was close by to where he had last seen the golems he willed himself to move in that direction to get a better look at it's source. The energy flow was fairly recent, but not an active one, but he could tell, as he got closer to the trail, that it was indeed made by the largest of the golems, his eye for such energies much like the nose of a bloodhound.

He soon saw a building below with a large hole torn in it's metal roof, and from the heat signature still radiating from the rended edges, could tell that the hole was fairly recently made. He moved his way to the roof and slowly lowered himself down onto it, and then carefully looked over the edge into the darkness below. Of course, to his glowing silver eyes, the darkness did not hinder his vision at all, and he was able to see that his search was over, for below him was Supergirl hanging from a chain and surrounded by the three golems with the glowing chests that kept her in their green lights.

Vladi straightened himself back up after getting a good look of the large room under him, and dispelled the levitation from his form. He kept his mystic vision in place, as he figured that it would better serve him once he was within the darkened building with the three golems, and better able to face them if he was better able to see them, though his native half-elven vision was sharper than human's normal realm of sight.

The wizard sat down cross legged on the roof top next to the hole and closed his eyes to meditate for a few moments, to gather up his energies and to ready his mind for combat. He was a battle mage, and skilled in magical as well as martial techniques of warfare. Thus, he knew that it was always best to prepare for battle, if battle could not be avoided. He didn't think that he would be able to avoid battle, since the golems would most undoubtedly be ready to stop anyone from rescuing their charge. He had a good idea of what he would do, as he had faced golems a number of times in the past, and that he would be able to used their metallic nature against them.

The battle was quick, brutal, and a bit anti-climatic. The tightly bound and near-unconscious Supergirl found herself looking at a ball of blue energy, which quickly widened and flattened out, and from within a figure in black stepped out. The robots surrounding her paid no attention to the newcomer until it was too late for them, as the man said something and a bolt of fire shot from his right hand and blasted through one of the robots and turned it into a smoldering mass of slag, while the other two robots were picked up from the floor and slammed into each other with massive force, causing them to blast apart into hundreds of pieces. Supergirl felt a relieving surge of strength almost immediately as the three kryptonite rays that bathed her form were snuffed out.

Chapter Seventeen - Gifts and Gratitude

"Oohhhhh... thank...Krypton...." Supergirl moaned with relief as the affects of the kryptonite lights upon her stopped. She could still feel that there was some kryptonite still near by, as the two glowing green discs from within the robots were now scattered on the ground, as were the rest of the pieces of the destroyed robots. She was still weak from the radiations, and knew that she would need a bit more recovery before she was able to burst her bonds, so just concentrated on becoming aware of her surroundings, and her rescuer, who she saw was now approaching her.

Vladi made his way towards the suspended superheroine, pausing only to pick up the two pieces of glowing green stones that had been blasted out of the metal bodies of the two golems that he had caused to suddenly and dramatically join each other in strong massive magnetic attraction. He didn't know when the giant golem would return, or if it would feel the destruction of it's smaller 'children' that it had birthed from it's chest. He suspected that it would be aware, as he was aware of his own mystical constructions, as they always had a little piece of his own self within when being made.

The mage put the glowing green discs into one of his jacket pockets, and the radiation from them ceased to reach the helpless superheroine, as the pockets were mystical in nature, and the kryptonite was actually placed into tiny dimensional pockets, so they were no longer on the same plane as Supergirl.

"What the... Who are you?" Supergirl shivered as the man came closer, not because of her near naked state, but because of the eeriness of this eyes, which came out first from the gloom, as they were glowing silver orbs.

"Oh, my apologies, Supergirl. Here, let me make things a bit more light here for us," the mage spoke as he closed his eyes to will his eyes back to normal, while speaking a spell of illumination, and a small ball of glowing energy materialized above his head to brighten the area for about twelve feet around him.

Kara gasped in surprise, first by the lovely tone of the strange sing-song that came from the man before her, then by the light that appeared to float over his head, to then show her that her rescuer was none other than the mysterious Mister Meyer, who she had caught falling from the heavens those many long weeks ago.

"Mister Meyer?!?" she asked, surprised to see him up and walking when the last time she had seen him was in Saint Mary's hospital in a nearly two month long coma. And, not only up and walking, but with as much power as to destroy three robots within mere seconds with hardly any trouble. Three robots of the type that gave her a very hard battle and had actually defeated and captured her in the end.

"Actually, no, my name is not Meyer, my dear Supergirl, but VladiMIRE," the mage corrected her, as he motioned up at the chain that she was dangling from, causing a number of the steel links to soften and thus stretch like rubber, so that she was slowly lowered to the ground.

"But, you can call me Vladi," he continued as he carefully took a hold of her shoulders and guided her to the ground, as politely as he could, laying her upon her side so that she was facing away from him, knowing that these humans were not very comfortable with their skins, needing to wear much clothing when around others of their kind.

"Oh, thank you, Vladi. But, you have to know, that there is another of those robots out there, and he is lots bigger! Be careful!" Supergirl warned, very aware now of how gallantly gentle the handsome man in black was being with her, realizing how she must look as being near naked but for a pair of small tight panties, and tightly and helplessly bound.

"A robot? Ah yes. I understand that term now. I thought it was a golem. It has left the area into the sky not long ago. I think to your space over your world. I do not think it will return soon, but we should be leaving this place quickly, just in case, no?"

"That sounds like a good idea. Now, how are you going to free me? These are steel straps that have been welded together and are very strong... ohhhh...," Supergirl gasped with sudden relief as one after the other the bands disappeared from her body at the touch of Vladi's finger. There was a sudden warmth and then a soft pop as each strap was dispelled, wrists then elbows then shoulders and waist.

"Ohhhh... that feels... so much better," Kara sighed with gratefulness as the bands at her ankles, knees and thighs then soon followed into nothingness, leaving the blonde superheroine finally free.

"Now, I know that your clothes have been destroyed," the mage stated as he helped the still weakened damsel to her feet, "but, I think I will be able to make you a new costume for you, if you will allow me?"

"Sure, knock yourself out, handsome," Supergirl smiled to Vladi as she felt her strength returning, but still accepted his help in standing and holding herself up to her feet. She was not ashamed of her body, nor as prudent as most of those in this American society that she found herself defending, so did not try to hide herself to the mans very approving looks, though she could tell that he was doing his best not to be too blatant with his visual attentions.

"Knock myself out...?" Vladi asked, as he searched his memory for that reference. He had recalled hearing it on a number of times in the entertainment shows from the television that was on in his hospital room, being used as a casual way to give permission. He smiled and nodded his understanding and closed his eyes to visualize what he would do.

Holding Supergirl's elbow with his left hand, he used his right hand to gather up the energies that he would need, taking ahold of the energies of the dispelled steel bands as a means to make the Girl of Steels new costume. He visualized the type of clothes that many of the younger women wore around San Francisco that he thought were especially fetching to him.

Kara again found herself mesmerized by the man's voice, and realized that he was casting a magic spell. Her savior was a magic user, and that caused a strange tremor to wash through her at that realization. She wondered if this Vladimire knew that her only other weakness, besides kryptonite was magic! She would be defenseless against this man's magical abilities if he meant her harm, but she was gratified that he was there to help her, and chided herself for her momentary lapse into fearful disquiet.

"Vladi!!!" she suddenly called out as she felt a strange sensation rush up and about her body, and looked down to see her feet clad in red shoes, much like slippers with fashionable balls around the ankles. She saw, and felt, that she was now wearing a pair of very short and daring red shorts, which really didn't need the yellow belt to keep them attached to her hips. Her bright blue eyes then went to the brilliantly blue shirt that snugly held her form from shoulders to waist before being tucked into the shorts, but with puffy loose sleeves which were closed with golden yellow buttons at the blue cuffs, buttons which matched the golden belt buckle of a stylish "S" at the front of her shorts. A small but obvious red and yellow "S" emblem of her families crest adorned her left breast, while she felt more than saw, that there was a larger emblem in the middle of the red cape which was attached to her shoulders to flow behind her, the end just touching the backs of her thighs below the bottom of her short shorts.

"Tell me what you think. I can form you something else if you disapprove of this garment." The wizard then motioned before them, and the air solidified and took on a reflective nature, to form a floating mirror that the dazzled superheroine could look at herself within.

Kara was feeling much better and she was recovering her strength rapidly. She could feel the powers of her abilities starting to come back, but she was more concerned about the vision that she saw before her in the strange floating mirror.

"Vladi! It's... wonderful!!" she gushed as she slowly turned one way then the other, then did a quick spin so that her cape flowed out behind her to reveal her toned round ass, that was so perfectly fitted by the shorts.

The mage slowly stepped back, to get Supergirl room to pose herself before the floating mirror, smiling at the girl's joy which was so abundant. It was a great thing to see after not too long ago her look of pain and weakness from the strange green energy. A slight frown crossed his features as he felt the stirring within him rise up a moment as he recalled her bound and helpless form. He quickly pushed that away as he looked back to the superheroine as she looked at her cape through the reflection of the mirror, before running her hands along her sides and hips.

"And it feels so... smooth and ... unlike anything I have ever felt before! How did you do it??" she asked the wizard, stopping her posing before the mirror to look straight at the man before her. She saw again those intensely pale blue eyes looking at her with a look that she didn't often see. The look of how a man looked at a woman. It was disconcerting a bit to her, as she often only saw looks of amazement or lust or fear, or the combinations of all three. The way a mortal would look at a goddess. But this man, did not look at her as a being greater than him, or even lesser than him, as some of her foes had done on occasion. No, he looked at her with a gaze that was curious and open, the look of someone that was looking for more. That was seeking something deeper. And, as it came from the eyes of a very powerful being, who she was finding herself more and more attracted to. Kara was realizing that this was a man that was not afraid of her, in the least, and that was starting to make her feel very nervous.

"Oh, by magic, of course my dear!" he answered with a broad smile and then gave her a deep bow with a flourish, finishing up by taking her right hand and bringing her knuckles to his lips in the finish, "but, no where near as magical as you are to me!"

Kara blinked several times, caught by surprise by the sudden movement which caught her entirely off guard. She blushed and brought up her left hand to cover her lips as they went into a large embarrassed grin. She had been complimented before, many many times, and even had others kiss her hand in much the same gallant manner. But, never had she felt a tingling course through her veins as when Vladi's lips touched her skin.

Her heart started to race in a new manner as she felt a heat starting to build in her loins. It was too fast, too soon, and it was timing itself with her growing powers and abilities. A panic started to set in as she was finding herself no longer in control. Sure, she was not in control when she was bound and helpless by the robots, but this was different. Before it was her body that was captive, now she was afraid that it was her heart that would soon be a captive to this strange and mysterious Vladimire. She didn't want that, didn't need that, as she already was in a relationship with her boss at the San Franciscan television station KSF-TV, Geoffrey Anderson. Was he casting a spell on her??

"Than... thank you, Vladi... Thank you for... for everything!! But... but... I have to go. My... My people... they need me," Supergirl stammered as she slowly took her hand back from the dashing man in black, his pale eyes seeming to glow from his dark features, as he slowly straightened up and took a step back, understanding that look that she was giving him, a look that he had seen quite often in the eyes of people who did not understand magic and were afraid of it. He wanted her to know that there was nothing to fear from him, and almost told her that when something stopped the words from emerging from his mouth. Vladimire had always strove for honesty, because words had to be true when given by a mage, since words were so important for magical spells. Thus, wizards may stretch the truth, or avoid the truth, but in the end, they always told the truth. At least, as long as they wanted their powers to remain pure and powerful and under their control. And, he suddenly had a feeling deep within himself, seeing the way that she looked at him, knowing the way he felt when he had seen her powerless and helpless, that he so wanted to see her thus like that again, only this time under his control.

"Certainly, my dear. I understand. You must be off. But, be assured that we will meet again," he promised her with another bow, this time towards the rising figure as Supergirl felt her flight powers taking a hold of her before she really wanted them to, as she took off into the morning sky, fleeing the attraction that was filling her with such strange dread.

The wizard watched her as she disappeared from sight through the hole in the building's roof, his right hand back into the dimensional pocket, fingering the strange green discs.

"Of that I promise," he whispered to himself, which was heard by the super-hearing of Supergirl as she fled towards downtown San Francisco in her daring new costume.
