HEROINEBURGH Season Two continuous update thread
OK..so it'll be several months before any episodes come out for Season Two of Heroineburgh.
But believe it or not, we are already planning a shoot for Episode 14 (aka Episode 1 of Season Two) which (if everything goes
right) will happen in 2 weeks, even before we debut Episodes 11-13 to conclude Season One both in two premiere events and
the Steel City Con.
So, with that kind of overlap, it's only proper to begin this new thread, especially since we'll be interviewing several new actresses who will take over heroine or villainess roles (and there'll be plenty of new characters down the line as well). Let us know what you think of the new actresses.
Today we had an amazing costume fitting and photo shoot with our new Arogya. The original Arogya actress, Shani, has a very busy life (studying to be a coder, playing in bands, training as a kickboxer, etc) so she couldn't commit to more episodes. But luckily we found the totally awesome Nupur!
She'll debut as Arogya in a short clip in Episode 13 from her secret hidden lab. Then she'll make her Steel City Con debut in December, before joining the Heroine League for several episodes in Season Two (during 2019). She's already been fantastic
to work with. Welcome the beautiful Nupur to the Heroineburgh team!

The Superheroines Forum gets all the great Heroineburgh news first!
We just finished a great costume fitting and photo shoot with the awesome Devon, who will be playing the villainess Mesmera (who was first introduced in Episode 2, battling Hellfyra) in Season Two.
She'll be involved in a 'prison break' scene we're going to film in a couple weeks to kick off work on Episode 14 (aka Season 2, Episode 1). All of the villains that were captured in Season One break free and cause havoc throughout the city, orchestrated by the mysterious cabal, Black Faction.
Devon has a background in theater and improv comedy, and she played a sexy female astronaut in a tight bodysuit costume in a play in Austin, TX, so that's very promising. She's really good at ad-libbing and putting her own twist into the lines. Can't wait to work with Devon, playing the Mistress of Hypnotism, in Season Two of Heroineburgh. Here are some of our test shots!

Another great new actress joined the Heroineburgh team today.
We just finished another excellent costume fitting and photo shoot with the inventive Sydney, who will be playing the villainess Devorra the Queen Bee (who was first introduced in Episode 2, fighting Gardenia) in Season Two.

Sydney is a veteran of theater productions, but this is her first time on film, so we can't wait to see what kind of charisma she brings to the role of the obsessive, powerful pollinator in Season Two of Heroineburgh. Here are some of the test shots!

Got to report on having so much fun tonight!
Earlier this evening, the worlds of Heroineburgh and the Pittsburgh music scene collided when Dysphoria (aka Steph W) took the stage as Gary Numan on a tribute band night to benefit Humane Animal Rescue. Here she is getting ready in the green room. The band performed My Name is Ruin, Metal, Down in the Park, Cars, and Are Friends Electric. Dysphoria was an amazing force onstage - riveting all the gazes in the room with her great voice and her tight costume - just like she'll be a destructive juggernaut in our upcoming filming date to start working on Episode 14 (Season 2!). The (nanofiber) gloves are definitely coming off!

We have another great new actress for Season Two of Heroineburgh.
Laurie was great as plant-powered Jewish heroine Gardenia in Season One.
But now the torch has been passed to Laura - she is now the new queen of the plant world and defender of nature.
She will be involved in several episodes of Season Two, fighting polluters, capturing criminals and possibly battling Nazis.
Welcome Laura to Heroineburgh.

As Heroineburgh's reputation grows in Pittsburgh as a fun project to be a part of, we have more great actresses coming aboard. Meet Josalynn, who is a well-rounded entry into the villainess game: she is an avid comic book nerd and cosplayer, has acted in horror films, has been an exotic dancer and bondage fetishist, and an active member of the gothic-industrial scene. What more could you ask for? Oh: a sultry voice, an adventurous attitude, and a gorgeous appearance. All check!
Josalynn will be portraying the violent villainess Vaporia throughout Season 2 of the Heroineburgh series. Vaporia is head of the secret cabal, the Black Faction, along with her husband, Detective Drake. Together they plot to discredit the brave members of the Pittsburgh Heroine League, so that the city won't trust any of the women with superpowers. Will they succeed? Find out when Season Two unfolds early next year, and in the meantime, check out whatever you've missed from Season One, because we are about to upload the final three episodes!

Who's next to jump on board Heroineburgh for the prospective Season Two?
Give a nice big Heroineburgh welcome to Mauricia, the amazing new actress who will portray Vendetta (the Italian spirit of vengeance) throughout the next season. She'll make her debut on Sun Dec 9 at Steel City Con and then appear in Episode 14, fighting alongside Poderosa and Red Gina with her escrima sticks.
A two-episode arc is also planned for this strong, skilled martial-arts combatant later in the season with dramatic Italian themes (an aria or two, commedia dell'arte, a plate of ravioli, and certainly some agita). Watch Vendetta defend Bloomfield (Pittsburgh's Little Italy) and the city from corrupt criminals and serious supervillains, along with the help of friends in the Heroine League such as her BFF, Devana.
When she is confident in her mission, she cannot be defeated! And don't forget to go back and check out Vendetta's origin story in Episode 4 (played by the talented Catherine) on the Heroineburgh website's Video Store.

Episode 14, first installment of Heroineburgh Season Two, introduces a brand new villainess...meet Sintilla!
Cynthia Mantilla works a boring accounting job in a cubicle but has a fetishistic obsession to be a Bad Girl a la Eartha Kitt and Julie Newmar.
When she comes across a meteor fragment, she acquires superpowers that transform her into the super sexy Sintilla, the malevolent mistress of mischief and mayhem. Sintilla is portrayed by the incomparable burlesquer Lita D'Vargas, and her signature weapons are hardened rubber paddles with spikes.
She'll make her live appearance debut on Sun Dec 9 at Steel City Con in Monroeville, PA, and then she'll appear in Episode 14, battling multiple heroines (probably Fianna and Arctica) with her unique skill of clairvoyant combat - she can see their moves a couple seconds in advance! She also has another special power which will be revealed in Episode 14.

A few stills from our first two shoots for Heroineburgh Episode 14 (the first episode of Season Two).
We have one more major shoot next week for EP14 and then we'll be on to post-production, releasing one episode at a time from now on.
Most episodes will contain multiple story arcs like a television series, although each episode will continue to be enjoyable on its own.
One of the main villains for Season Two will be the corrupt cop Drake (Ben) and his violent wife Vaporia (played by Josalynn), who has the power to turn all or her part of herself into smoke. They'll be gathering around them a formidable group of villains called the Black Faction.
Another main member of the Black Faction is Dysphoria (played by Stephanie W), who has reverted back to her destructive ways after promising her former boss X-Machina that she would turn over a new leaf in Episode 8. Here we have a close up of her about to remove her glove to create havoc and decay during a prison break.
A new addition to the supervillainess roster is the sexy Sintilla (played by Lita). She starts out as boring nerdy accountant Cynthia, daydreaming about living an exciting life of sin like Selina Kyle, and then she gets powers and an amazing costume to boot, embarking on her first crime spree.
When Sintilla goes on her criminal adventures, the first opposition she encounters are the on-duty members of the Heroine League: ice queen Arctica (played by Bridget) and Celtic banshee warrior Fianna (Emily). What happens next when these titans clash?

The first of several Episode 14 outtakes we'll post on Youtube.
Sintilla is on an adrenalin rush from her first heist, and needs a place to hide to throw the heroines off her trail.

Still filming Episode 14. In the current sequence we're working on, corrupt detective Mark Drake and his supervillainess wife Vaporia ambush and kidnap Gina Garibaldi after figuring out her identity as the rage-fueled antiheroine Red Gina. They try to convert her to their side of the conflict. Will she turn evil, or will members of the Heroine League recognize Gina's valor and come to her rescue? (Hint: the story arc also co-stars Vendetta and Poderosa).
This will include our first official chloroform ragging as well as choking using superpowers, a torturous beating, and a lethal throatlift.
Yup, we're going a bit more dark! But still keeping it officialy PG-13. Anyway, here are some video stills. We'll have more next week when Poderosa rejoins the production. (She was sick and had a fever this weekend..superpowers notwithstanding).
Gina comes home to check her mail (she gets letters from women who need help with domestic abuse and sexual harrassment),
but is unaware of the villains lying in wait for her.
Vaporia and Drake subdue her with a combination of chloroform and smoke asphyxiation.
Drake and Vaporia have Gina bound in her civilian identity, drugged and unable to muster up enough anger to transform.
Vendetta brings Gina adrenalin pills to reverse her sluggish demeanor.
Red Gina is bound and chained - can she break free?
Can Red Gina temper her justice with mercy, or is she on an all-out quest for revenge?

Some action shots from the last week of filming Episode 14.
Arctica the ice queen is warming up to her passionate side, and can't help expressing her desire for the beautiful Irish lesbian heroine, Fianna.
Etherea teleports into a dangerous situation, but manages to subdue the gunman with her bliss powers and increased aggressive tendencies.
Vendetta pits her skills with the escrima sticks against a thug wielding a heavy lead pipe.
Red Gina battles one of the Black Faction henchmen who comes after her with a whip.

More great news from Heroineburgh Season Two. Episode 14 is in final post-production. See the brief clip below of one of our transformation effects for the sexy villainess Sintilla (no sound).
And we are working on scheduling shoots for Episode 15. Joining our cast will be the athletically built and very lithe Ashlee, who is also an acrobat (you bet we're going to be incorporating her gymnastics into the combat!) and will be playing Lunessa, gothic mistress of the moonlight, in Season Two.
Here is a photo and an intro video for Ashlee. Please welcome her to the Heroineburgh team!
And finally...we are working on Heroineburgh graphic design #5. If you remember, the first four graphics (which go on T-shirts, stickers, posters
and our Comicon banner) depicted 19 of the heroines from the Pittsburgh Heroine League.
Now we're going to honor the characters of the villainesses (and the 'antiheroines' such as the popular Red Gina, who has been waiting patiently to get her due.) Here is the first drawing by our artist Jason Wright (longtime DC Comics colorist) of the villainess Vaporia. Co-leader of the evil Black Faction, she is the head villainess in Season Two of Heroineburgh in partnership with her husband Drake. Three more 'anti-heroines' will follow shortly and we'll make a new post when they're complete.
Having debuted briefly in Episode 11 (played by Valiha), Vaporia starts in her first full episode (played brilliantly by Josalynn) when EP14 comes out in about a month. Her secret identity is Vicki Vaughan, who owns a vape shop but operates a criminal enterprise in the back. She gains the power to turn all or part of her body into smoky vapor. She can transport herself swiftly as a billow of clouds, sneak into any building through the tiniest crack, and asphyxiate her victims to death with a concentrated dose of choking smoke. She is violent and deadly..also quite voluptuous!

Thanks for the great compliments on Lunessa.
Lunessa's secret identity is publicly known because she uses her powers as a DJ in a nightclub, so she won't be unmasked. Her mask is more of a fashion choice made by the character, who is a bratty rich girl concerned about her appearance. The mask makes her look more heroic.
Actually, our first unmasking will happen to a new character in Episode 15, our first female 'sidekick'. When the costume is ready and we do a character intro on Youtube, you'll see this character in her mask.
In the meantime, Jason Wright has come through with the second of the four 'Anti-Heroines' for our next T-shirt and sticker.
Behold the amazing detail he's created for the chaotic and destructive Dysphoria!
And here's another effect in progress as we show how Etherea uses her new teleportation powers to send the gunman's bullets away to...where?

If all goes as planned, the first heroine to be forcibly unmasked will be a new sidekick character for the new Gardenia actress (now played by Laura). Her name will be Zinnia (played by Mary Beth). Imagine if Poison Ivy had a really over-enthusiastic intern who gets herself in trouble (peril)! Working on that for one of the Episode 15 arcs. Hopefully Mary Beth will be coming by within a week or so to do the Zinnia costume shoot.
Meanwhile, besides Zinnia and the fearsome clown Pagliaccia (played by Shauna) , another new character who will join the cast in Episode 15 is the devastating villainess Kaliyuga the Destroyer. She is an Indian postgrad student in geology. When she becomes evil, she will have a higher power level than anyone introduced so far in the series (she can literally shatter buildings!) and she will pose a serious threat to the Heroine League and to the entire city of Pittsburgh.
Please give a big Heroineburgh welcome to Anna, who will play the part of Kaliyuga starting this month. The Kaliyuga outfit - which is a modified, extremely shiny Batgirl costume - will have a fearsome black-and-gold logo of the goddess Kali on the front where the gold mesh is (our seamstress is working on that logo, and will have it finished next week) but otherwise than that, the costume is ready to go.

As we wrap up post-production on Episode 14 this week, let's give a shout-out to some of the villains we'll be seeing more of in Season Two of Heroineburgh as the year progresses.
Breaking out of prison to cause as much havoc as possible are (left to right):
Dysphoria, the dominatrix of decay (Steph W)
Canis the Hound (Alexi)
Mesmera, mistress of hypnotism (Devon)
Devorra the Queen Bee (Sydney)
Where will they strike next?
And Jason Wright continues to work on our new "Anti-HeroineBurgh" graphic featuring the villainous and morally ambiguous characters on our roster.
Here's his rendition of the raging Red Gina, soon to adorn our new T-shirts and stickers. Jessica (the actress) loves how powerful and badass it makes her look!

The sinful Sintilla, who will debut in Episode 14!
Here are some Heroineburgh updates!
- Episode 14 is done! Almost exactly a half hour. And the trailer too, at 48 seconds.
Who's in it? More characters than ever before: Drake, Peggy, Vaporia, Dysphoria, Mesmera, Devorra, Red Gina, Sintilla, Vendetta, Etherea, Fianna and Arctica all play roles, in addition to some new henchmen, the return of Fianna's girlfriend Carrie, and Ginger the dog (who will not be outdone by Goose the Cat). What a great cast! Anticipating being able to launch it soon, within two weeks I hope, depending on our webmaster.
- Mary Beth is doing her fitting for the Zinnia costume on Tuesday. A veteran of the improv comedy scene in town, she'll be wearing a tight and shiny green catsuit with various leafy decorations and a green mask. Zinnia is the new millennial-aged sidekick for our Poison Ivy-style heroine, Gardenia. Episode 15 will see her get into some sticky predicaments, in the venerable tradition of Elektra Woman and Dyna Girl, fighting all evil deeds.
Bwah ha ha!
- Our capable seamstress Beth put the Kali logo on the costume for the Indian goddess of destruction, Kaliyuga (played by Anna, as seen above). We're picking up the costume tomorrow, and as you can already see, she is going to look amazing in it!
- We've scheduled the first two shoots for Episode 15: one involving Gardenia and Zinnia, and another involving Kaliyuga with Arogya and Spectrina as her nemeses. We have three more shoot dates to schedule (including the parts with Pagliaccia) but things are moving along.
- And finally we're unveiling the new graphic by Jason Wright which will be featured in Episode 14, and on the newest round of T-shirts and stickers.
It's our first tribute to some of the "anti-heroines" of the Heroineburgh series...with more to come. Jason is amazing as unusual, and now that he's done with that, he's going to start working on the cover for Heroineburgh Comics #1, while Ben continues to work on the interior.
The final version will have the character names, but here they are, left to right: Dysphoria, Sintilla, Red Gina and Vaporia.
So many incredible adventures to come in Season Two of Heroineburgh!

Well, it was time to add a superheroine sidekick to Heroineburgh. So here comes Zinnia, played by Mary Beth. She's the Dyna Girl to Gardenia's Elektra Woman.
Xenia Rosinski is a student of environmental science and an intern for the Gardenia Foundation. She can't wait to help save the planet, but more importantly, she idolizes her boss, Becky Bloom (Gardenia) and wants to go into battle by her side. The only problem is...unlike Gardenia, she doesn't have any powers! But that doesn't stop her from designing her Zinnia costume and building her own signature weapon: a gun that shoots vines!
Of course, an over-enthusiastic sidekick is bound to find herself in some delicious peril, caught in the clutches of the villains. Will Zinnia get herself in so much trouble she'll need rescuing? Find out when Episode 15 comes out in a couple months, and in the meantime, if you haven't checked out Gardenia's quirky origin story in Episode 3, download it now at heroineburgh.com.
Enjoy these brand new photos of Mary Beth as Zinnia. We've posted her Youtube intro video as well - she's a natural!

Filming of Heroineburgh Episode 15 has officially begun! The actress playing Zinnia fell sick this morning, so we are postponing her first scenes until next week. But Laura made her stunning debut today as the superheroine Gardenia.
By day, Becky Bloom is an environmental activist who works out of a storefront in the Pittsburgh neighborhood of Lawrenceville prosecuting egregious polluters and despoilers of the Earth. But when more drastic and direct actions are needed, this becomes a job for....Gardenia, mistress of the plant world! She has amazing sensitivity to the natural world, and a variety of plant-based powers including controlling vines to restrain criminals, or protecting against toxins. And don't forget her secret power...the incredible Ironwood Fist.
When Zinnia falls into a dangerous trap set by evil developers, Gardenia must speed to the rescue!
Laura is so ready to do this! Here's an outtake from today's shoot. It's the first time we did a Supergirl-style blouse rip, believe it or not.

Heroineburgh Episode 15 is proceeding apace.
We finished the origin scenes for Zinnia, defender of nature (played by Mary Beth). She's the eager and headstrong Xenia Rozinski, an intern in environmental science who secretly styles herself as the sidekick for Gardenia, protector of the plant world. She wants to be a superheroine, but doesn't have any powers!
Zinnia has designed her own costume, and charges into battle against polluting developers with her camera and her vine gun, not waiting for backup from her superpowered mentor. As one might imagine, this gets her in quite a bit of danger. Perceive the perilous results when Episode 15 comes out.
We also welcome the brand-new X-Machina - mistress of magnetism and machines - for Season Two, portrayed by the amazing and enthusiastic Serra.(X-Machina debuted her origin in Episode 8, played by Steph T).
X-Machina will make a cameo in Episode 15 providing technical know-how for members of the Heroine League, and then embark on her own full adventure in Episode 16. Stay tuned for much more from this exciting heroine!

Just realized we haven't done an Episode 15 update in a while. Busy with filming, busy with the Comicon, etc.
So here's a big update. We've finished all the principal photography for Episode 15 and are moving on to post-production.
We're actually plunging ahead with a filming for Episode 16 next week as well, as Emily (aka Fianna) returns to town to shoot with us. Huzzah!
Zinnia is ready for action. Little does she comprehend the peril that awaits.
Pagliaccia, the clown princess of fear, conspires with the mobster Carlo Graziani.
Vendetta and Lunessa interrupt the mob meeting - will they be able to take down Carlo and Pagliaccia?

Gardenia confronts Mesmera while mounting her rescue operation to retrieve Zinnia.
Doctor Marty Gupta before and after her transformation into Arogya the Healer.
Arogya and Spectrina take the meteorites to geologist Dr. Balakrishnan for analysis. They have no idea of the devastation they are about to unleash.
One day later, Dr. Balakrishnan has been fully infused with the power of all the meteorites and undergoes a startlingly malevolent transformation.
Kaliyuga the Destroyer will become the most powerful supervillainess in the Heroineburgh universe - our answer to Thanos or Darkseid, if you will.
If she can destroy entire buildings with the blasts from her hands, what does that mean for the superheroines of the city??

And finally, some fun outtake clips from Episode 15 shoots. FX will be added in post-production, of course. EP15 will come out in May.
A big Heroineburgh welcome to Sasaya, our newest actress bringing back the character of heavy metal Satanist superheroine Hellfyra (origin portrayed by Courtney in Episode 2). She's ready and eager to join the Heroine League and will make her debut in Episode 16.
We'll begin filming part of that episode next week! As above, so below.
We'll begin filming part of that episode next week! As above, so below.
Unfortunately, we didn't get to shoot the segments of Episode 16 that we planned to last week, because the actress who plays Arctica hurt her ankle and wasn't able to film with us (she was in every scene except one). So the resolution of that story arc might have to wait until Episode 17 or be filmed later this summer. We still plan to introduce the new Hellfyra in Episode 16, so we'll create a story that involves her in action.
Meanwhile we are preparing to release Episode 15. We're done with post-production and it looks like it will be the best-looking episode yet, debuting several new plots, incorporating several perils, and two new supervillainesses (Kaliyuga and Pagliaccia) and a sidekick (Zinnia). Before we release it to the public, though, it'll be shown at Three Rivers Comicon next week. We'll see what the reception is.
Jason Wright is working on the next "AntiHeroineburgh" graphic #2, and so far he's finished three of the four villainesses.
Behold Jason's renditions of Mesmera, Pagliaccia and Kaliyuga!

Jason Wright's new AntiHeroineburgh #2 graphic is ready and here it is!
It will be included in Episode 15, and also available on stickers at this weekend's 3 Rivers Comicon, where we are showing a whole schedule
of Heroineburgh episodes to the convention crowd - free with admission! We'll post lots of photos in the Cosplay Forum once the Con is over.
If you happen to be coming to the Con, here's the exhibition schedule which also includes 4 episodes of Australia's Superhero Project (from the
Forum's own producer Ava). http://3riverscomicon.com/panels
This new graphic will also be available on dark red T-shirts starting in July when the comic book comes out.

And now...it's high time to start working on Heroineburgh Episode 16. We're doing our first shoot for it this Sunday, which will cover the second part of the Pagliaccia origin arc which started in Episode 15.
The original Pagliaccia actress became too busy with other projects to film within our time schedule, but we have found a new Pagliaccia who will continue the role for the foreseeable future - Icky Vicky, who comes from a background of burlesque and sideshow work, and already has a natural
affinity for portraying evil clown characters.
Background on Pagliaccia: She was originally commedia dell'arte instructor Dr. Paula DiAccia, but then acquired the power to induce extreme negative emotion in others, and became the Clown Princess of Fear (think of a combination of The Joker, Harley Quinn and Scarecrow). Now she is murderous and vengeful, working as a mercenary for the mafia and wishing nothing more than to humiliate and kill as many superheroines as she can.
Welcome Icky Vicky to our cast as the evil Pagliaccia!

We've made tons of progress on Episode 16 as the filming part is almost done. We did the second part of the Pagliaccia arc, and then a teamup between Cybrina (featuring new actress Sarah W) and X-Machina (Serra). The only thing left to be done will be a teaser epilogue which will probably feature the new Hellfyra (Sasaya) and the return of Devorra the Queen Bee (Sydney) with increased evil powers (prison time allowed all the villainesses to grow stronger!).
Here is the character intro for the very cute Sarah W, the new Cybrina:
And here she is, in the "lost in a video game" sequence that will be part of the episode.
And we've got some stills from the Pagliaccia Part 2 shoot that'll give you an idea of some of the action! Later on, we'll post stills from the Cybrina/X-Machina shoot as well.
Vendetta and Lunessa in peril, knocked out on the floor and chained up.
Pagliaccia is getting ready to shoot the heroines at the behest of mafia don Carlo Graziani.
Poderosa enters to challenge the villains.
Poderosa temporarily restrained by Carlo's two mafia flunkies. They can't hold her for long!
Pow! Wham! Superhero battle!

Pagliaccia gets her revenge, and tragedy ensues (no spoilers).

Vendetta reunites with her father, who has returned from exile in Italy.

We only have to do one more filming sequence on Aug 31 to finish Episode 16. It will be a sort of 'epilogue' to the episode but it will feature another full superheroine battle with winners and losers. Since Hellfyra wasn't available that day, we'll wait to reintroduce her until Episode 17. Instead this epilogue will contain the brand-new powered-up version of Devorra the Queen Bee (she underwent a metamorphosis in an insectoid cocoon, which we'll show, and she comes out stronger than ever and is the first villainess able to fly!) squaring off against the unlikely team of Arabic superwoman Jinniyya and unpredictable villainess Sintilla (whose side is she really on? other than her own, of course).
In the meantime, we can offer a few preview stills from the second Episode 16 shoot, involving a full adventurous team-up of the two high-tech heroines Cybrina (Sarah W) and X-Machina (Serra). Enjoy these tidbits while you're waiting for Episode 16 to be completed by October for a Halloween weekend theater showing!
The new evil genius villain Crainiac (played by Josh) constructs a superweapon for Drake that can destroy several superheroines! What relation is Crainiac to the Black Faction and why does he hate the heroines so much? You'll find out soon enough!
Computer programmer Sabrina Walters takes advantage of the privacy of her office at Cybertech to transform into Cybrina, and travels through her wi-fi connection to get to the scene of the crime alert.
Dr. Kimberly Chiang rips off her lab coat to reveal her X-Machina power suit in her engineering lab at Carnegie Mellon. Time to spring into action!
Cybrina and X-Machina arrive quickly at the supposed crime scene, only to find that it's a...yoga studio?
X-Machina is knocked unconscious by a surprise attack!
Cybrina must confront a masked Drake all by herself. What does he have up his sleeve?

Cybrina and X-Machina make an amazing duo. Their powers should compliment each other.
Two weeks ago, we did the final segment for Heroineburgh Episode 16, and the episode is now in post-production awaiting the first raw editor's cut (we have a new editor on board).
This most recent shoot was probably the best we've ever done: it was outdoors, sunny but cool - perfect "spandex" weather. We found a location that essentially worked like an outdoor soundstage - excellent sound, and eye-popping colorful visuals. Plus we also filmed in a dark dingy basement, which was perfect for an evil cocoon metamorphosis, and a green screen sequence as well.
Here are some examples of results. Look for Episode 16 to be available hopefully in late October, when we also will do a public theater screening for 14, 15 and 16.
Where's Devorra been for the past episode after escaping from prison? Why, undergoing a metamorphosis in an abandoned house basement while evading the authorities. She emerges from her cocoon with brand new powers. Find out what they are when Episode 16 comes out.
Devorra (Sydney) evolving to a higher Pokemon form inside her chrysalis.
Busting loose form her cocoon, she revels in her new powers.
Green screen might give you a hint of what one of Devorra's new powers is.
Side view of Devorra's green screen sequence. Sydney looks great!
Devorra issues a challenge to a heroine she hopes to enslave and destroy.

Alicia never passes up a chance for sizzling Sintilla poses on the set. She's a go-go dancer, so that's how she rolls. She's kind of like Julie Newmar, Earth Kitt and Diana Rigg all rolled into one. You'll never hear us complain.

Even as we edit Episode 16 for a theater premiere here in two weeks...we have already begun shooting scenes for Episode 17.
Work on Episode 17 began with a hotel robbery sequence by Sintilla back in July (filmed while we were up in Erie PA), and continued
last night with a six-hour shoot involving four actresses. everyone was in extremely good spirits.
There'll be at least four more shoots for EP17 to come...multiple story arcs and so on.
We're still going through the takes from last night, but by tomorrow we should have some stills available to post showing the episode's progress.
In the meantime, here's the beautiful frost queen Arctica (Bridget) taking a much-needed pizza break between her scenes from last night. Bridget put this little collage together for her actress page. She is so awesome!

Super-catchy theme song!
Thanks, Doctor!
Here are some photos from the Heroineburgh Episode 14-16 theater premiere which was held last night at Regent Square Theater.
There'll be an an announcement soon in the Superheroine Releases thread when it's available for download.
John (who plays two different thugs in Episodes 14 and 16) as Cyclops, and his friend Laura as Psylocke under the marquee.
Tao (our friend and supporter who will play a barbarian villainess in Episode 18) congratulates Laura on winning the big cosplay prize for her Psylocke.
Shot of the full marquee from the opposite side.
The vivacious Serra, who makes a cameo in Episode 15 and then a full action-packed appearance in Episode 16 as the high-tech heroine X-Machina, showed us some love at the merch booth next to her likeness on the banner, comic book and T-shirts.
Recently we shot one of the story arcs from Episode 17, the one involving Fianna (Emily) and her girlfriend Carrie (Sarah D) along with Arctica (Bridget) and the first appearance of our new Hellfyra (Sasaya). The shoot went very smoothly. We still have five more shoots to finish Episode 17 (including lots of combat) so it won't be done for a while.
First of all, we have an Instagram post from the lovely Bridget (Arctica). We love this because it really epitomizes the idea of what we try to do with superheroine transformations: turning an ordinary woman (in this case, a nerdy scientist) into a powerful, confident and beautiful goddess (of the frost). Bridget is an amazing actress and really understands her role - she is wonderful to behold!
And now here are some stills from upcoming Episode 17:
Greta (Bridget) and Fallon (Emily) are in their civilian identities, walking to Fallon's house.
The two heroines have a heart-to-heart talk about their feelings for each other.
Carrie (Sarah D) is angry at her girlfriend, Fallon.
Fallon outside the jewelry store.
Arctica is studying Sintilla's powers at Pittsburgh Heroine League headquarters.
Another angle of Arctica at the headquarters analyzing Sintilla's powers.

Before we get to more stills from the latest Episode 17 shoot, we have two more actresses joining the fold who will debut in Episode 18.
One will be a brand new supervillainess character based on Stargirl, and we'll have more on that later.
But today we did the fitting and character intro shoot for our new Arcana, mistress of the shadows, for Season 2. Her name is PJ, and she follows in the footsteps of Julie, who portrayed the dark diva Arcana in EPs 7 and 13 of Season 1. PJ is eager to join the goth superheroine trio Dark Dominion (also including Lunessa and Etherea) for a full-length adventure in Episode 18, to be filmed in winter 2020.
In the meantime, she will make her public debut on December 8 at Steel City Con appearing alongside her friend Stephanie (the supervillainess Dysphoria). And she will be talking to people about another brand-new shadow-based superpower that she just discovered!

Just found out something very cool. Notice the actress Nupur at the top of this Season 2 thread, who plays Arogya the Healer. She has a cameo in Episode 13 (Season 1) and appears in a full adventure in Episode 15 (Season 2). She is scheduled to return in Episode 17 to complete the 2nd half of the story.
I was just directly responsible for getting her a role in an upcoming Amazon TV show that will soon be filmed in New Orleans. The show is produced by one of her all-time movie heroines. My part in this involved carefully and meticulously filming an audition tape for her a couple days ago, which was submitted pretty much at the last possible minute. And she was hired, probably out of hundreds of potential submissions.
Very good vibes right now!

Hey - before we post a few more stills from upcoming Episode 17, we are pleased as punch to introduce a brand new character into Heroineburgh.
Her name is Stellara, and she emits powerful stellar blasts, energized by her exposure to the sun. In her secret identity as Lieutenant Stella Rathburn, she is a combat veteran of the U.S. Army who has seen action in Iraq and Afghanistan, and she is now a military history professor at the University of Pittsburgh. The character's appearance is based a little bit on Stargirl and a little bit of female versions of Captain America (Sharon Carter, American Dream, etc.) as well as on the power set of Captain Marvel.
Today we did the publicity shoot for the actress who will play the character. Her name is Shannon. She has a lithe dancer's body - having gone to school for dance - and a ton of great attitude and charisma, working as a singer/dancer in a wedding show band. She also has some acting experience, playing core non-speaking background roles in two cable network shows which were shot in Pittsburgh. But these are her very first lines on film!
Please welcome Shannon to Heroineburgh as Lt Stella Rathburn / Stellara. Will she be heroine or villainess? You'll have to wait until Episode 17 is done to find out!
Below are photos of Stella in her secret identity and her superhuman form, plus our new intro video on Youtube. Enjoy!

Here's a sequence of stills from the scene where Spectrina acquires a new set of power-amplifying bracelets from Crainiac (the master of machines and weapons). The bracelets were created by Janet Gerard, the wife of Gil Gerard (Buck Rogers!).
Spectrina tests out her bracelets and marvels at their power, then uses them to supercharge a new weapon that Crainiac has built to destroy the superheroines. Yup, she's a turncoat! (as evidence by her meeting with Drake in Episode 15). See what happens when her power is added to the Black Faction.

We shot these scenes today with incredible new actress Shannon!
The devious detective Drake (leader of the Black Faction) hears that military veteran Lt. Stella Rathburn has been released from the superpowered detention facility. Stella had to promise to wear a hoodie and sunglasses at all time while outdoors, in order not to absorb enough solar energy that would cause her to revert back into the chaotically powerful Stellara. However, Drake sneaks into her academic building and plants an unexpected gift for Lt. Rathburn - a dark energy meteorite which infuses her with so much energy that it triggers her painful transformation into Stellara once again. Flush with incredible power, Stella is no longer willing to abide by the law, and she quits her university job and destroys her office, ready to join the ranks of supervillainess mercenaries who make a fortune in the underworld. Will she be sucked into the Black Faction's plans to overthrow the Heroine League? Find out in a few months in Episode 17.
