Not to put a damper on people's holiday but there's an anti-porn bill being written in the Senate called SISEA that could put everything that the people who love this site hold dear in deep jeopardy.
Here's an article about it:

well that sucks...that is why we all need a very close circle of cosplay porn loving kinky sex freaks to live out our own porn addictions
OOO and its bi-partisan. Not surprising. Both groups are social busy body prudes. Ban porn cause of depravity or cause of exploitation it doesn't matter - its banned.
And this IS targeted at men. You won't see romance novels or 50 shades of gray coming off the shelves.
I doubt this is a worry. Two guys proposing legislation means nothing.

Not to pile on, but besides stuff like this, I almost feel like this fetish is somewhat in trouble regardless. Obviously Covid has put a damper on filming, but seems like most of the videos and stuff coming out these days are complete cookie cutter or someone's custom. Not seeing much unique anymore and seems models are retiring/finding other work and just overall producers aren't putting out much. I saw that Heroine Movies was thinking about closing down their site, which is pretty huge news. Just has felt like this ship has sailed awhile ago, not sure how many are making too much money at it now, especially with all the stuff winding up on pirate sites, though I did see that some of those sites were going to a membership model to post videos. Just going to be an interesting time for this little corner of the universe.

Yes, I've been keeping an eye on these guys...they are basically grandstanding and are known for doing that but the problem is if this thing gets legs, there really is no downside for a legislator to vote against porn. It's not like they would lose in the polls because of an anti-porn stance. So it's definitely a scary proposition.
Porn's an easy ra-ra target. The irony here is that more than likely the attack on porn is some perceived attack on men but in reality it hurts women because women are the vast workers in the porn industry. A lot of these women make their living doing this.MightyHypnotic wrote: ↑3 years agoYes, I've been keeping an eye on these guys...they are basically grandstanding and are known for doing that but the problem is if this thing gets legs, there really is no downside for a legislator to vote against porn. And what of only fans and other sites. Is Bell Delphine going to get shut down?

Was this tied in at all with the cleaning house at Porn Hub? Was that, like, a pre-emptive thing they did to try and avoid something like this passing?

Here's a in-depth article about the actual act that may be helpful for producers and others here to understand what the nature of the threat is to our genre based on what's in the proposed act.

thanks for posting that. So it seems it is solely addressing live action video and pictures?DrDominator9 wrote: ↑3 years agoHere's a in-depth article about the actual act that may be helpful for producers and others here to understand what the nature of the threat is to our genre based on what's in the proposed act.

Glad to get the word out. It could spell trouble for productions across the board, tbh. That requirement for a 24-hour hot line puts a crimp in everyone's life. Even a nude scene in a major motion picture could make producers think twice about including it. People might start censoring themselves beforehand due to the restrictions and penalties they could face. "Not worth it!" might be the reaction from not just porn producers but even regular producers.

I would say that this attack on porn certainly bears watching and folks ought to keep an eye on this issue. Having said that, I have a hard time believing anything of any real substance will end up getting passed by Congress that will adversely affect SHIB. I will believe it when I see it, that for decades now, mostly southern conservative politicians have used "the evils of porn" to energize their base, offering red meat to their base, then when they get elected they by in large abandon the issue, that they only use the issue to get votes, then when they get elected, forget about it. They will need to garner more support than just getting support from southern conservative politicians and a few Democrats. Let us all hope they fail to attain that kind of widespread support.
What's the background of the bill's authors? Do they have a reputation as anti-porn crusaders?
Because this smells like something designed and proposed by Big Porn to sustainably manage the industry (and extend their domination of it), not strangle it.
Shouldn't these standards of documented publisher and subject consent apply to images posted to Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube? What's their escape clause?
Some concerns of that last article seem a bit inflated. The 24x7 takedown response requirement seems like a straightforward thing to outsource. And fair use and commentary could operate by referral -- carry the original content provider's documentation of consent and link the same takedown response provider.
I think the thing today's fetish content consumers will find most onerous is the forced shift to streaming. People really like their downloads, though I expect if content was sold through an established company many would go along rather than do without. Streaming is replacing physical media in the general entertainment market, and I bet resistance is mostly generational.
Indeed, I wonder if banning downloads is realistic. The implication is that possession of digital pornography would become illegal. That would be messy and quite chilling.
And yes, this level of content registration, especially streaming-only and being consolidated through service providers, does raise the spectre of a censorship bureau taking a hatchet to whole swaths of content -- reminiscent of Americans' fears of gun registration leading to confiscation, but without the option to hole up in a bunker and make the gubmint come pry it out of your cold dead fingers -- but I posit that risk is much higher from oligopoly than actual government action.

From the Free Speech Coalition article (emphasis added):
From The New War on Porn, it's made clear that the new bill resulted from the New York Times article on Pornhub which in turn resulted from Exodus Cry, an organization out to destroy pornography:
The deterioration of the fourth estate has made it vulnerable to basic rebranding of religious extremist views. Shameful.
Imagine trying to get consent from two heads of state for an image of them comparing penis size. The definition of pornography is so broad that any platform or service would be required to secure the same age, identity, and release forms for anyone portrayed in any potentially sexual scenario — whether it was a GIF from Game of Thrones, a Mapplethorpe photo, an explicit parody drawing of Trump and Putin, or self-produced sex tape. Platforms that do not secure the identity and releases would be fined, and the user uploading it could be sued by those appearing in the photo.
From The New War on Porn, it's made clear that the new bill resulted from the New York Times article on Pornhub which in turn resulted from Exodus Cry, an organization out to destroy pornography:
It's a very good article.Over the last year, Mickelwait has focused her efforts on Traffickinghub, Exodus Cry’s social-media-optimized campaign that directly targeted Pornhub over content moderation issues that are common to all online platforms, mainstream and adult.
Mickelwait has been conducting her campaign on a scorched-earth basis, and every one of her positions and talking points were adopted by New York Times writer Nicholas Kristof for his December 4 piece “The Children of Pornhub.”
Kristof’s article, which has become the focal point of the New War on Porn, praised “an organization called Traffickinghub, led by an activist named Laila Mickelwait” for documenting “abuses and calls for the site to be shut down,” without mentioning the religious background.
Mickelwait and Exodus Cry, in turn, boasted on Twitter of having been the source and origin of Kristof’s piece, which was cited days later by Senators Ben Sasse (R-Neb.) and Jeff Merkley (D-Ore.) as the inspiration behind their proposed “Stop Internet Sexual Exploitation Act” (SISEA) bill.
The deterioration of the fourth estate has made it vulnerable to basic rebranding of religious extremist views. Shameful.

I don't know what difference these petitions usually make, but Change.org has one for this very bill: https://www.change.org/p/jeff-merkley-s ... igned=true.
Folks, do NOT let far right religious groups like Exodus Cry threaten our rights! They're coming up with clever tactics and using politicians to advance their agenda. They claim that their objective is to create stricter laws to fight "trafficking," when in reality their goal is to eradicate porn along with anything else they deem "indecent" on the internet. We all know that this has little to do with trafficking, PornHub, or even porn. This is about our right to freely provide and access LEGAL content on the internet. There's a lot at stake, so sign the petition today, voice your opposition and take action whenever and wherever possible! #stopSISEA
