As I have the "Dr. of maskology" title from the university of Schnitzel und Sauerkraut ....the official definition is as following:
1. No mask
....pretty obious.
Examples: Wonder Woman, Supergirl
-----------------------------------------------------------
2. Eye mask
A cheap effort to "disguise" the face but showing most of the pretty face at the same time.
Example: Black Canary
(^two of the better examples of an eye mask, as the material is good and covers rather a lot for this type of mask)
-----------------------------------------------------------
3. Half mask
Either the upper or the lower half are concealed by the mask
Examples: Kitana (Mortal Kombat), Black Scorpion
(^not from Mortal Kombat)
-----------------------------------------------------------
4. Cowl
The mask covers the upper half of the head and is normally secured with a chin strap or a neck piece/covering
Examples: Batgirl (the good versions), Catwoman (the good versions)
-----------------------------------------------------------
5. Full face mask
A) The mask covers the full face.
Examples: Spider-girl, Spoiler
*NEW*B) A "lighter" version of the full face mask would be the full face mask that covers everyting except the eyes and/or the mouth:
Example: Catburglar, giga heroines
----
My favorites are basically numbers 3-5.
I love full face masks because the vast amount of material that can be damaged or ripped during a fight. Also with a full mask the masked woman is a total mystery with nearly no clue at all who is hiding underneath.
But if I have to choose one type as in this poll....I will go with Cowls, since my favorite heroines Batgirl, Batwoman and Catwoman all have cowls.

Which type is your favorite and why?
Poll is open for the rest of the year.

What is your favorite type of mask on a heroine?

For me, less is more. A big part of this fetish for me is seeing the effect of battling the bad guys on the heroine's face. Confidence, uncertainty, fear, these emotions are key for me and are harder to transmit through a mask. On the other hand, masks add to the fantasy element of superheroines, and there is unquestionably something very arousing about having a heroine's mask removed against her will. I'll go with eye masks.
Incidentally, you've seen Cosmic Girl-Heroines of F.U.R.Y-Part 2 from Secret Identity Films, right? That's probably my favorite unmasking scene, other than the Black Scorpion stuff.

cowl does it for me....They always feel secure when wearing them, making it less likely to be easily removed revealing our secret ID....O do love the half masks too especially ones that look like an 8 buckle panel ballgag!! mmmmmmmmph

^ Damn, completely overlooked it. Getting old....
The mask isn't sexy for me, but the rest looks like a great package:
Attractive heroine, sexy outfit (pantyhose!), plus a good face of defeat on that last picture. A shame that the trailer doesn't work.
Will keep that one on the radar. Thanks for the reco.!

Grin! That's the shot from immediately after the guy slowly peeled off her mask as she begged him not to.

I prefer cowls. Particularly when they're made from stretchy spandex with good coverage of the neck and a ponytail hole.
"A brass unicorn has been catapulted across a London street and impaled an eminent surgeon. Words fail me, gentlemen."
I've recently started to like masks (either half-masks or cowls) that cover the eyes, a little like Daredevil's mask, or Spider-Woman's. That way there's an extra mystique to their superhero persona, and there's an extra drama when their masks are taken off.

Yeah, that is indeed very exciting to me as well.Damselbinder wrote: ↑3 years agoI've recently started to like masks (either half-masks or cowls) that cover the eyes, a little like Daredevil's mask, or Spider-Woman's. I mean take the Spider-girl in the first post for example .
You have not the slightest clue how she looks underneath that mask.
I like the idea when she fights a bad guy, her mask gets damaged in the fight more and more.
Little pieces of fabric rip off her mask revealing more and more....of her well concealed face...
Her eyes become visible.....little strains of hair popping put of the damaged mask....
....her lips are now visible...with an expression of anger and fear...
...ok, enough of that

Though I doubt this is going to be something most people here (myself included) prefer, would we include a super-sentai style helmet as a separate category?

No, that's not a real category that needs to be separated for me.Damselbinder wrote: ↑3 years agoThough I doubt this is going to be something most people here (myself included) prefer, would we include a super-sentai style helmet as a separate category?
These helmets do the job of a full face mask and (normally) look ugly was they doing it.

For years, I saw masks that were absolutely horrible and ugly and then other masks that were great, and I couldn't figure out why. Like... what was the defining factor that all of them had in common.
I ultimately did figure it out. The ugly ones are the ones that change the shape of the model's eyes. Anything that changes the shape of the eyes is just hideous to me.

The 8th picture in the original post is a good example.

I don't know what it is about the full helmet on Japanese Power Ranger type SHIP. I think that the idea is you can just imagine how much pain in the heroine is in behind her as mask as she is being tortured. The power of erotica lies in suggestion. Then, when the heroine is depowered and her helmet is annihilated it just demonstrates an extreme amount of peril. Granted I only watch these videos on YouTube because I am fuck nut.
But for American and British SHIP, gotta go with the eye mask.
