But that's not all! Here are two beautiful cast photos from that Episode 21 shoot with Dark Spectra and Kaliyuga.
And yes, it was Erika's idea for Sana to sit on her lap, while clad in the shiny spandex. I'm sure some folks on the Forum will appreciate it. Great thinking, Erika!
Earlier today, we also finally found our new Arogya, playing by lovely actress Nams. She will join the production in Episode 21 in a scene where she uses her biological mutation powers to change her face (because Mesmera revealed her secret identity in EP20).
We're shooting that scene on May 3.
In the meantime, check out Nams in the Arogya costume, and her intro clip on Youtube!
HEROINEBURGH Season Two continuous update thread
More progress on Episode 21 this week, as we filmed the "epilogue" that's going to bookend the conclusion of the episode.
In it, Gardenia (queen of the plant world) and Zinnia (her loyal sidekick, and defender of nature) are working on an environmental project when they get the alert that the Heroine League is in serious trouble.
Gardenia (played by lovely actress Laura) uses her plant powers to transform the two of them for action. And here's where we'll debut Zinnia's brand-new costume: a sleek contoured lime-green catsuit which will update her look from "retro 70s" to more of a modern
style (although she'll still retain her mask, gloves, boots and cute pink cape). We think that actress Mary Beth looks amazing in the new outfit!
This scene will be part of Episode 21, but we still have the "meat" of the episode to shoot in three weeks. It's going to be the most epic superheroine battle ever put to video!
Transformation of the heroines - a little 'before and after' graphic:

LOVE the new TIGHT lime green catsuit!
Another fantastic Episode 21 shoot finished today. Like the Dark Spectra/Kaliyuga meeting scene above, this one's also a prologue to the big good vs evil battle we're filming in a couple weeks.
This scene features the on-screen debut of our amazing Indonesian-born actress Jessica. Back in Jakarta, she was a model, actress, radio announcer and singer-songwriter...basically an all-around entertainer. Now she brings the same enthusiasm and allure to the role of Serpenta. (Attention to our friend Five_Red, the resident expert on Southeast Asian superheroines: this role is somewhat based on the snakey villainess Valentina from Darna).
In this scene, outlaw herpetologist Dr. Sarah Pentini is despairing - after a string of mediocre robberies, she has run out of money to eat and pay her bills. But then a phone call comes to the rescue: Dark Spectra hires her to join the Black Faction, which was formed to destroy the Heroine League. Jumping at her chance to take revenge on the heroines, Sarah tries out a more powerful version of the experimental snake venom which got her fired from the Pittsburgh Zoo.
Lo and behold, after enduring a painful bout of transformation, she emerges on the other side as an even stronger version of Serpenta - augmenting her reptilian powers of super-strength, blinding speed and agility, hypnotic stare, and a venomous bite. Here are some tidbits from our shoot with Jessica.
The new batch of experimental snake venom developed by Dr. Sarah Pentini.
Sitting in her kitchen, Sarah receives the call from Dark Spectra, and accepts the assignment.
Removing her scientist spectacles, Sarah eagerly drinks her new serum.
Undergoing a series of painful convulsions due to the serum's increased potency, she stumbles from the kitchen to the living room, eventually collapsing behind the sofa.
A few minutes later, as smoke rises from her body, Serpenta emerges from behind the sofa, rising like a coiled cobra and slithering and hissing like a snake.
Serpenta revels in her new power level, ready to meet Dark Spectra at their agreed location. Watch out, heroines!
Here's one of the publicity stills we shot with Jessica, as Serpenta strikes a powerful villainess stance.
Outtake from the shoot which features a nice pan-up of the costume, and Serpenta chewing the scenery. We used another take with slightly different wording, but you get the idea. As an Indonesian actress familiar with the legend of the Naga goddess (snake woman of India and Southeast Asia), Jessica was excited to incorporate that into the aspects of her character.

So...because our actress Janeka has moved to New Jersey with her husband (he's in the military)
and doesn't have a clear idea yet when her family will be moving back to the Pittsburgh area (where she is from),
plus the considerable gas cost in getting her here, we found it necessary to cast a new actress as Savanna, the
ferocious feline superheroine. You can still catch up on Janeka as Savanna in Episode 9 (origin story) and Episode 18 Parts 1 and 2
(battle against her evil sister Panthyra) - she did an awesome job and looked amazing. Janeka may return to the part if she moves back to town.
However, moving forward for the foreseeable future, the role of Savanna will be portrayed by our new actress Myone.
Myone's first live appearance as Savanna will be this coming Thu July 14, when the creators of Comicsburgh will have a vendor
table at the showing of the movie "Cosplay Universe" (starring Yaya Han, etc.) 8 pm at the Harris Theater, downtown Pittsburgh.
Savanna will be there to take photos and sign covers of Heroineburgh Comics #2, where she is on the cover!
Then, next Sunday, she'll make her film debut in the big battle shoot for Episode 21. We'll have a ton of photos to post from that shoot (the last one for Season 2) in the following week. Welcome Myone to the cast of Heroineburgh - she is excited to take on the character!

Yesterday - the centerpiece finale shoot for Heroineburgh Season 2 - may have set a record!
"The most superpowered characters in a single episode of an independent film production." (TWENTY-FIVE!)
I say "independent", because I'm not sure how many total characters were in Avengers: Endgame - probably more than 40.
If anyone has any idea whether we've attained that achievement, let me know.
While I'm going over all the clips - which is going to take a couple days - the following photos should give you a good idea of the
utter destruction and defeat suffered by the superheroines of Pittsburgh. They're really going to have to rally to come back strong
in Season 3.
The queen of the frost...on ice!
The heavy metal heroine vanquished!
Mistress of the moonlight extinguished!
An end to rage for the red menace!
No more gale force for the mistress of the winds!
Tyger no longer burning bright!

Awesome stuff! Nice job. Hey, I'm in Pittsburgh. PM me, maybe we can meet?
Well, then....before we show a bunch of cool action stills from our epic 25-character shoot this past Sunday...
It turns out that some of our heroines were conducting their own photo shoots backstage while waiting to play their parts.
We love the enthusiasm! Here are some of the results:
Indigo (Lunessa) took a group selfie of herself with Elizabeth (Vigilanta) and Heather (Cybrina).
All three of them play in local bands, so it's quite a 'supergroup' sorority of music!
Ruby (Stellara) and Myone (Savanna) got together for a photo.
Bridget (Arctica) took a beautiful head shot for future promo. You'll be seeing a lot of her - she's coming with us to Terrificon
in Connecticut, and to Baltimore Con in the fall!
Meanwhile, Jessica did an entire shoot in the Serpenta costume, with her husband taking the photos (sorry, gents, she's taken).
Are you ready for this?

I'm going to post these eventually on other social media, but the Forum is going to be the very first to see these group shots
from our Episode 21 shoot 3 weeks ago.
Believe it or not, these aren't even *all* the heroines who are going to be in the episode! First of all, Poderosa and Dyna couldn't be there, so we are shooting their fights against Stellara and Darbouka this upcoming Sunday. And in addition, there will appearances by Gardenia, Zinnia, and Vaporia in separate scenes.
So...that's 14 superheroines and 11 supervillainesses..a total of 25. This should clearly make EP21 the most superpowered costumed women ever in one TV episode or movie!
Group shot of the Heroine League (not including Poderosa). "Captain Peggy" is on the upper left - she hasn't transformed into Vigilanta yet, but she is in costume in this episode.
Upper row: Captain Peggy (Vigilanta), Vendetta, Jinniyya, Darbouka, Cybrina.
Lower row: Red Gina, Arctica, Hellfyra, Savanna, Lunessa, Etherea, Arcana.
Group shot of the villainesses (not including Dyna). "Pete the Cameraman" (Poderosa's hapless boyfriend) is tied up in the middle.
Left of Pete: Pagliaccia, Stellara, Panthyra, Mesmera, Kaliyuga.
Right of Pete: Dark Spectra, Sintilla, Dysphoria, Serpenta, Devorra.
More EP21 photos soon!

Is Poderosa getting KO'd in her encounter on Sunday? Hope so!
As long as the actress shows up on time, and doesn't sleep in, like she did three weeks ago...the answer is 'most definitely'.
There's going to be a new weakness factor introduced which will make that happen.
And I'll post at least one knockout photo (like the ones I posted above) after the shoot is done.
We might also set the record for most knockouts in a single episode! (I didn't even think of that)
Thanks for the great question!
Great news!
The two battles that we weren't able to get done three weeks ago were filmed today: Dyna vs Darbouka, and Stellara vs Poderosa.
We also completed the final EP21 scene which is a reunion of Drake and Vaporia, who have to decide which 'side' they're going to be on for Season 3.
Thus, all the Season 2 finale shoots are completed, and we'll be working on the editing soon.
For Mamooche and others who wanted to know about the knockouts - yes, there are two more (including Poderosa) and here they are!
The mistress of sound is 'soundly' demolished! Dyna's spiky boot presses down on her tight black outfit.
Dyna gloats after her victory. Actress Milo is very appealing in this role, preening and posing with her shiny outfit and muscular body.
Stellara has found a new weakness to use against Poderosa - and that glowing rock does NOT have the effect that you think it does!
Poderosa crushed underfoot by Stellara's guile and power.
Another angle of Poderosa's defeat, just for Mamooche. The Puerto Rican powerhouse is deliciously helpless!
This still from the meeting of the villainous lovers (Drake and Vaporia) will be available as a signed publicity photo at Steel City Con next weekend
where Vaporia will make an appearance on the Friday.
Outtake video from the Dyna vs Darbouka battle.
Dyna is stationed as a sentry to prevent the heroines from fleeing their headquarters.
Darbouka tries to escape using her sonic powers, but Dyna has built up a resistance to them. She utters her catchphrase: "I am Dyna - I am power!"

Currently, Episode 21 (the Season 2 finale) is deep in production with our new editor Mike Tai,
for a release hopefully at the end of October.
We've been posting some outtakes from the Episode 21 shoots (especially the two battle shoots) on Youtube,
to get folks psyched for the release. Check out three of them here, but there will be more up pretty soon.
Vigilanta (the new superheroine alter-ego of Police Captain Peggy Moyers) arrives on the scene
and confronts the triumvirate of villainesses ruling the Black Faction: Kaliyuga, Mesmera, and their boss, the traitorous Dark Spectra (formerly Heroine League member Spectrina).
Stellara is sent into battle against Poderosa by the Black Faction. But it's no futile effort: the solar-powered mercenary can counter the
invulnerability of the Puerto Rican powerhouse with a new mineral element: "Drainium". What does it do?
Find out more about Drainium when the episode comes out, but here's a taste.
Serpenta is assigned to attack Red Gina. But the rage-fueled crimson crusher isn't cooperating - she has more than enough strength to choke
the snake-woman against the wall. How will Serpenta fight back?
And....Jessica B (Serpenta) added a different angle from her battle with Jessica R (Red Gina), as shot by a 3rd party camera and posted her own Instagram. This talented Indonesian actress is quite enthusiastic about her role as a supervillainess!
Cybrina goes up against Dysphoria, attacking her with debilitating lightning bolts. Can Dysphoria recover to defeat her foe?

We are pretty much done with the raw cut for Episode 21 (Season 2 finale).
It is so massive that when done it's going to be 53 minutes. And no, I'm not cutting it in half like we did to Episode 18 and Episode 19.
The reason why is that the middle part is a long battle between two dozen heroines and villainesses, so to chop it in two would disturb
the flow. Instead, when it's ready, we'll offer it as a double-length episode at a price that's 50% higher (probably $14.99 instead of $9.99).
The next three weeks are going to be spent creating the FX. So look for this in mid to late November, while we are also busy shooting new scenes
for Episode 22. Here's a little preview that will only be available for viewing through the Forum (the video is unlisted). This clip occurs in the
midst of the huge battle between all the characters:
Poderosa is paralyzed and defeated by her nemesis Stellara, thanks to a mineral called Drainium, which is the reverse isotope of the meteorites
which gave most of the women their superpowers. Drainium will soon serve as our version of 'Red Kryptonite', affecting each individual heroine
differently for good or for ill.
But meanwhile, Poderosa is convulsing with pain, and Stellara plants her bright blue boot quite firmly, right onto Poderosa's most sensitive area. Can Poderosa recover and defeat the villainess?

Two more clips, as we head through the special effects production phase for EP21.
In this one, Sintilla and Arctica face off for a rematch. Arctica has a difficult time attacking Sintilla, because Sintilla's precognitive abilities allow her to accurately predict what Arctica will do in advance. Sintilla keeps avoiding Arctica's ice blasts. So Arctica throws Sintilla off guard by doing something rather unpredictable - planting a frozen kiss right on Sintilla's lips. Also unexpectedly, Sintilla begins to enjoy the kiss, and tightly embraces Arctica even as she shivers with frozen delight.
This plays right into Arctica's continued reputation as an amorous chaser of spandex-clad heroines: she's cold on the outside, but red-hot with passion.
You'll get to see what happens next in the conflict, once Episode 21 comes in late November.
Our new editor is also working on some great effects right now. For the battle between the rival sisters Savanna and Panthyra, he wanted to emphasize the sheer brutality of the 'catfight', so he applied some changes to the film speed and a bit of a dust cloud to show the impact of Panthyra's massive blow (she is a six-foot muscular amazon, after all). This is just an FX test he showed me, but a finished version of this effect (and many more!) will appear in the final version of Episode 21, out in late November.
