So here's something hilarious:
Nexstar - a media conglomerate which owns nearly 200 TV stations across the U.S. - has bought The CW for 0 dollars, simply taking on the inherent debt of the company. They now own 75% of The CW, while Warner and Paramount retain 12.5% each (which means that both companies can still make shows directly for the network).
But Nexstar has claimed that the average viewer of The CW is actually 58.
Although I'm assuming that means those viewers who watch it as appointment television, rather than those who stream.
Anyway, given that information, it seems unlikely that their schedule will be crammed with superheroic shows for the foreseeable future...but we'll see.

Here's the Clownfish TV commentary on it, which was how I found out. It should give you a good belly laugh.
(Among other things, they theorize that a lot of the audience is younger but living at home, and watching on their parents' televisions).
The CW bought by Nexstar for 0 dollars, claims average viewer is 58
Yup and CNN is for 87 year olds.

It was never meant to be profitable and was used to get a certain demographic. Now they are going to fill it with spin offs of their better shows and cheap foreign shows.

That's certainly the most important thing.

All of the broadcast networks I suspect are trending older demographics these days. The president of CBS said last month that the average age of the television viewer watching the show Survivor on CBS is 60, while the average age of someone watching Survivor on CBS's streaming platform Paramount+ is 37.
Well who IS watching TV now a days? Do young people watch or do they engage in networking, tik tok, instagram, twitter, dating apps and playing games. Also wondering what he demographic of conventions and fan bases are. Probably in the older ranges. Same with gambling, young people really aren't engaging.

This is why Madison Avenue salivates over any show that gets even a halfway decent young demo rating, the big bucks advertisers flock to the shows that do register with the 18-49 year old holy grail demos, because those younger eyeballs are rather elusive to find for advertisers, so when they do find a show that the kids flock to, those shows are extremely valuable to advertisers, and thus to networks.Mr. X wrote: ↑1 year agoWell who IS watching TV now a days?
