Somewhere on the site is a topic devoted to athletes as superheroines. There are many women athletes who would fill a suoerheroine costume very nicely, but perhaps we should look for more important accomplishments. I would propose Alice Marble, 1930's Tennis Champion,
WW II war widow and American spy, 1950's civil rights advocate and an associate editor of Wonder Woman comics who created the feature:
"Wonder Women in History."
