Hey guys,

I'm testing out a new feature if you wanna check it out - it's similar to a Priceline "Name Your Price" Option.

No discounts (current sales, VIP codes, etc) apply. Instead, on the Video Page, you click the Variant you want (Film & Photo Set Bundle, Film Only, Photo Set Only) and then click the Green "Name Your Price" button and fill out the details. (There's a Shipping Zip Code request - that's your Billing Zip Code should you want to accept the price in the future. No physical products are shipped).

Once you're done, it will come to me for review and I'll either accept it, decline it, or counter the offer. Then you can choose to buy or not. It's something new and it may not work but it's different so I figured I'd try it out for a short while and see what happens :)

Well, it sounds like a nice idea, but I'm quite sure you'll get tons of 1 or even 0.1$ requests lol :D

Well, yeah, that's to be expected. Those types of requests will be ignored or declined obviously. Reasonable ones will be entertained. Like I said, it's just something to try out - who knows what the response will be until you give it a go, right? :)

And it serves also as a marketing analysis, so why not ;)

Where is this green "Name Your Price" button anyway ? At which point it's supposed to show up ?

edit: ah ok found it, the page has to load 100% first (including all the previews)... that's why I could not see it - stupidly slow Vodas*it connection :nugget:

haha, yeah, some of the site features are additional plug-ins so they don't load until the main content is finished loading up...

It's certainly an interesting idea. However, it may mean that instant purchases only come from people who desperately want a particular video right now. Everyone else will wait a little while for your response if they know the price is open to some degree of negotiation.

I've replied to quite a few. I will state on this thread that I wouldn't offer a video that is 35 minutes long for $14.99. No producer in his right mind would do that. That's not to be mean or condescending, but if offers come in, they need to be realistic.

Almost every producer nowadays is charging $1/minute or higher. I'm willing to be flexible within a range close to that higher or lower. Some people complained about a 40-minute video being $45.99. If they want to ask for it at $39.99, this is how they would be able to do that to satisfy the price gap-- then I decide if it's acceptable based on supply and demand, how new the video is, how much work it took to create that title, overall budget, etc.

A $14.99 offer on a 35 minute video... let's be real and at least realistic when placing offers. And you may be right-- it may not be worth the hassle and quickly dissolved from the website. We'll see. Just wanted to try something new. :)

Okay, you win. Too many unrealistic offers. I would have offered a nice discount on videos too but offering $20.00 for a 45-minute video (60% off) is something no producer would do. I don't feel like waiting it out either so I've removed it from the site.

Isn't it obvious people would want to pay similar to mainstream movies? - particularly for content less fetish and more mainstream.

Porn can demand a premium as it provides content not seen elsewhere, hence the dollar per minute value.

More mainstream SHIP vids? - a dollar per minute is certainly on the expensive end of the scale.

We have no issues with sales. This was a test for appeasement. But I've been told far too many times on here-- that's not possible.

Still, I can chalk it up to another trail and error. At least I know the outcome should anyone ask. And though logic says exactly what you just said, the PG films sell at a higher rate than the X rated ones... I guess there's something to be said about the "origins" of the fetish with Lynda Carter etc etc... Good old faithful revisited seems to be the most prized possession in this niche.

Pretty sure X-rated is more divisive, the further you get into a certain fetish the more particular those buying get it seems.

It depends what market you're selling to - obviously on this forum you're aiming at SHIP fans, which is totally fair enough. However I'd have thought some vids might potentially have more mass market appeal?

For those not specifically into this - $1 per minute is gonna be pricey.

That's true to an extent. It's a matter of who the intended audience is. I do sell these videos elsewhere but it ends up being more of a fetish-finding campaign at times I believe when selling elsewhere.

I have other ventures that definitely aim for mass-markets but the digital age has really changed how you can go about marketing and distributing that content and still stay above water within a project.

What I meant was-- the PG fans typically are more willing to pay a premium for content than those interested in X content. I'd assume that it gets closer to a porn-setting which is universally and easily discoverable for very little cost, if any.

Softcore is always an option... And we offer that as well. It's just interesting to see how diverse this niche really is and what the "right price" really is-- through statistical analysis, you'd be surprised over the 400+ videos I offer what does well and what doesn't -- I am anyway. Every day. :)
