Anyone watching The Terror?
A fictionalised account of the Franklin Expedition that disappeared without trace in the 1850s, though now both ships have been found but only 3 graves
It's really good period drama that captures the isolation and psychoses surrounding eating food contaminated with lead poisoning and throws in a supernatural twist.

and the villain of the piece Mr Hickey is superb as he plays off the neuroses of the crew.
Got very decent Rotten Tomatoes scores of 94% critics and 87% audience
Got the last episode to go but I would check it out if you are able.

i have'nt watched it tally, but ive read the book by dan simmons and the story is based on history (with a syfy twist added by simmons) it was a great read. ive also read several other books by simmons. if your a reader i highly recommend this author.

In many ways it is like Ridley Scott's most famous work, Alien, set in the arctic wilderness instead of space, with sails and steam pumps instead of warp drives. An exploration mission gets stranded in a hostile location, far from help -- check! The crew bicker as a mysterious creature lurks in the shadows, picking them off one by one -- check! One of the crew is secretly an android programmed to capture the creature -- erm, okay, maybe it's not that similar!

(What is particularly funny is that I watched 'Rome' a couple of years back -- basically Dynasty in togas -- and Brutus was played by Tobias Menzies, while Caesar was played by Ciaran Hinds. It was funny to see the two actors as officers in The Terror, given that the last time I saw them Menzies was violently stabbing Hinds to death in the imperial senate.)

Love season 1.
Fantastic atmosphere and setting, very suspenseful. Will re-watch that perhaps this year.

Season 2 is completely different but worth a watch also. Good horror story dealing with a Japanese family in the US during WW2.

I really enjoyed The Terror with some great actors (a reunion of sorts for some of the cast from "Rome") - an interesting hypothetical of unknown events from an age of exploration... enjoy!

I loved season 1. I haven't had the chance to see Season 2 though.
