DOCTOR JOSEFINA MONTERO...had just completed a virtual conference from an office in her private mansion in the affluent Campo Allegre district of Venezuela's capital. A 70 year old woman with short brown hair, standing at 5ft4...Josefina was one of Venezuela's leading criminologists and a lecturer in law and criminology at Simon Bolivar University in Caracas.
With most of the country shut down because of the covid-19 pandemic and grim economic times.. Josefina and her husband EDUARDO..a 71 year old economics lecturer at the same university did most of their work virtually as activities at the university were limited.
Josefina emerged from her office and walked down the hall to another room which served as nearby library. "This is troubling...The Police Chief is concerned that crime in Venezuela is not slowing down while we are in this pandemic..and that the cartels are using this period to increase their illegal activities" said Josefina.
"The police are going to need help...and I have to take action...but not as Doctor Josefina Monteiro" she resolved with a smile on her face.
