Ok, it's "only" the first glimpse of the Batsuit, but what do you guys think of it?

Ok, I need to see it with some light, but I think the cowl looks kind of strange. Is that leather?
And the nose region with the stichtes looks kind of .....unusual.

I prefer every Batman suit from any movie over this one.
Except the Batman "suit" from the 1940's and that "outfit" from Adam West in the 60's.
Perhaps he does have different suits like in the Arkham videogames.

I really hope they make a decent Catwoman suit for this one! Incl. a real cowl!
In the end, that is more important to me ;-)

They make it easier to replace them with stunt people and film in the dark so you can't see how bad the fight scenes are. Seriously, with the budget you can get better costumes and not ones based on the Frank Miller design when Bruce Wayne is an old man.

I'm put off by three things.

1. The bike looks crap.
2. The costume looks crap.
3. It's daylight.

Man looks like a mid-tier baddie from a Mad Max movie.

In visual terms I don't think I've seen a character design fuck the dog this hard since Joker in Suicide Squad.

Yep, the music that's basically dumbed down version (looping the first 4 notes) of Darth Vader's Imperial March theme.



Now there's an idea. They should appropriate Darth Vader's costume too, put some bat ears on it, title the movie: The Vader-Batman.

When I first heard that Pattinson was cast, I tried to be cautiously optimistic. I had hoped that what we would get was a leaner, less bulky batman along the lines of the Neal Adams or Jim Aparo depiction of the character.

This isn't that.

Honestly, it looks like something made on a TV budget.

As I heard this stunt driver wasn't wearing a cape because that would be pretty dangerous will riding such a bike.
I guess there will be some sort of cape, CGI or not.

Most of these movies look a bit ridiculous from candid photos. I expect it to look much better in the actual film. Seems like a sketchy graphic novel kind of vibe. Hi-tech batman has been done a lot. They say a change is as good as a rest. I'm cautiously optimistic.

Matt Reeves has released some more stills of Batman stuff, this time including the new Batmobile.



Actually, I'm kind of liking that Batmobile. It looks badass, but more like a race car driving on the streets than some kind of ten million dollar hypercar. Something that can outrun a patrol car, and maybe bust through a roadblock, but it is cheap enough to replace if it gets wrecked or impounded. Call it the Batmobile Mark 1.

Still not digging the Batsuit. It just looks weirdly proportioned, like he has two Hellboy arms or something.

^ Well....it is completely different like everything we saw so far in other movies.
They are taking quite some risks with these designs (the batsuit as well).
Let's see if that will pay off.
But in the end, it's all about the movie itself.
I guess (nearly) no one will say:
The movie was great but the batmobile and batsuit were crap.

I dunno, I love the 1980s Flash Gordon movie, but I think some of the design choices were odd. Mainly the spaceship designs. I can see what they were going for, but the final results were awkward looking.

And on the opposite foot, I strongly dislike the Tim Burton Batman movies, but I gotta admit his Batmobile was an instant classic.

That Batmobile is like a poor man's Kitt from Knight Rider.
Last time I checked Bruce Wayne wasn't a poor man

Everything is relative to the world that it is put into. It may well be that the car, the bike, the suit and so on will fit the world we eventually get to see. How would Keaton's batmobile have looked in Bale's version of Batman? Or Vice versa?

And of course everything looks lame before the ol' Hollywood magic gets thrown at it. Remember Dr Strange and the gang running down some London streets during production ... it looked lame! And there was all that negativity around Captain Marvel, and the suit and the colours and oh that look of "regret" on her face for being in some bad movie. Everything turned out great in the end.

But ... the one "but" ... that slightly abridged "Imperial March", are they exactly the same notes or what? It's just too close - whoever scored that has to go back and sort that out! I don't care who it was, Williams should be calling foul!

I've pinned down why I think the new Batmobile looks stupid. The hood has loads of air intake jazz all over it but the engine is quite obviously on the back.

It's a small detail but it suggests that the car was made to look cool above all other considerations. These things tend to look better if there is an underlying logic to the design. The design classics of cinema, the X-Wing, Mad Max's V8 Interceptor, everything from Aliens, they are classics because they look like they could get shit done. That car looks like a teenager stole a credit card and went all Fast and Furious on his rich dad's midlife-crisis-mobile.
