expanding recent topics box

Is there a way to make the recent topics box larger? I find that the more I use the forum the more I rely on that, as all of the different subforums are tedious to troll through searching for new posts. Is there a way in my personal settings to make it larger, maybe double how many recent posts it shows?

Go to 'Quick links' menu (top left) and select 'New posts.' Then you get a page worth of New Posts/Recent Topics.

Or select 'Active topics' for even more.
