Re: Kim Kardashian West robbery
Roleplay section was created for the very purpose. To take the conversation elsewhere. It's just a meetup point that someone asked me to create. I think it usually happens in chat or whatever, I don't really know.Femina wrote:The RP section has never been all that active here. I think I see someone post in there maybe once or twice a month. Usually just stating their inclination toward rp, I assume responses probably arrive via Personal Messages more often than via post, and that most of the actual RP is occurring somewhere other than the website itself. Whenever I did rp, I tended to use Google Docs. There are also just better sites for Roleplay hunting.Lordofheroines17 wrote:You make a great point. I disagree though. I think we CAN talk about such things but we cannot attack someone for their honest opinion and accuse them of being something that they're not. If you disagree feel free to tell them that and explain why you feel different. There is a manner in which it can be done.Femina wrote:I for one, second the desire for more stories! The story section is the reason I come here... the political banter I just get sucked into because I'm a human being with views about these things who absolutely will speak up when I hear something that sounds either unfounded or unfair... but the only real cure is to not post topics about things that happen in the real world at all... which would sort of make the 'general' section of the forum a bit pointless... and ignore the fact that we are human beings who talk about things that we believe in.
I've noticed the rp section is no longer shown in the recent posts bar. Could be why its been forgotten. Maybe for political or polarizing world topics make it something not shown in the recent topics but accessible for those who do wish to contribute to that discussion

Re: Kim Kardashian West robbery
This thread is going off topic.....sooo.......you know what happens...
Re: Kim Kardashian West robbery
Its not a case of disagreeing with an opinion being expressed, its a case of an opinion being expressed so aggressively that a poster feels intimidated in being part of this forum. That is unfortunately what some people are experiencing here
SO AGAIN I WOULD LIKE TO REMIND ALL POSTERS OF THE FIRST RULE OF THE FORUM - TO TREAT EACH OTHER WITH RESPECT AND SO TO POST IN A CONSIDERED AND INOFFENSIVE MANNER. DISAGREE BY ALL MEANS BUT DISAGREE WITHOUT TRADING INSULTS

While it's certainly unfortunate that a good poster such as Blue Scion has chosen to back away from the forum, I feel the claims and theories posted by Mr. X and Lordofheroines17 are grossly misrepresentative of discourse on this forum.tallyho wrote:Its not a case of disagreeing with an opinion being expressed, its a case of an opinion being expressed so aggressively that a poster feels intimidated in being part of this forum. It is not at all common for posters here to bully or attack producers over the fictional scenarios in their work. (Although people frequently offer feedback over technical aspects and producers' business practices.) Nor is it common for posters to bully or intimidate roleplayers or writers over their fictional scenarios.
Such unevidenced claims can only possibly work as part of a "slippery slope" or "thin end of the wedge" argument to suggest that criticism of one thing (such as a thread about a real-life attack) will lead to any/all peril-related fiction being treated with the same disdain. I personally prefer to examine what people have actually said, rather than imagine what they might say.
From what I have seen, nobody on here attacks Mr. X or other producers over the fictional peril content of their work. From what I have seen, nobody on here attacks roleplayers or fanfic writers over the fictional peril content of their work. (As I said before, I've only hit the Alert button in exceptional circumstances when characters are implied to be underage.)
At the other end of the spectrum, I was equally critical of a recent unevidenced claim that forum members with hostile attitudes towards women might launch misogynistic attacks on a particular model if she were to post here. All evidence I've seen (leaving wiggle room in case I've missed a few anomalous posts from misogynists) suggests that the men on this site are overwhelmingly respectful of female members.
Any such claim needs to be supported by actual evidence. Regardless of whether it's claim of extreme white-knighting or extreme misogyny.
I feel it is scaremongering to suggest that my criticism of a post about a real-life incident is somehow indicative of puritanical urge to bully and intimidate content creators into silence, as if I'm some sort of rabid SH Peril-hater. Now that notion is one fiction that I'm happy to condemn as utter nonsense.
Apologies for bumping this topic again. I just wanted to respond in a calm and honest way to claims that I personally find to be defamatory.
