I am inspired by some of the conversation pieces in the "Has the golden age of SHIP passed" thread (and boy does it go to so many different places) to throw some ideas against the wall.
Specifically, I hope this addresses the issues of:
- The direction of the fetish mix in SHIP driven by the few who can afford customs
- The producer's ability to target audiences with different preferences (e.g. pie lovers and pie haters), at the same time let the customers have some levels of choice in the fetishes they like in the films.
- Give the producers some knowledge into the market preference on which specific fetishes are popular.
I recently had a great experience where while I wasn't able to pay for or want to write out an entire custom to commission, I was more than happy to pay a few hundred dollars to have an extra scene where the heroine is made to perform a kink I like. I tried my best to keep it containable to the shoot, and the producer was able to do the extra scene as part of the shoot (and he did a great job I might add).
If more of these mini clips were made with each base film, they could be sold as separate cheap clips next to the base film (~$5 each?). This gives the producers the ability to bundle them with the base film as a special package during sales, or just keep them separate and see how well they sell individually and get a more specific understanding of what fetishes are popular in their fan base.
The buyers (who are not commissioning the base film or the mini clips) get the choice to buy more extra scenes of a film they really like while skipping kinks that turn them off.
I am sure I am missing a lot of challenges of being producers that may make this idea impractical, difficult, or impossible. I am apologize! But if even some parts of this can be helpful to some producer and therefor the SHIP community, then I'd be grateful.
