It''s been easier to emphasize a Muslim Pakistani Ms. Marvel in a series than have an Israeli Sabra or mention Jewish characters like Kitty Pryde. There is less likely to be calls for boycott since media companies regularly down play Jews.

I mean, I sort of agree. But that's not my axe to grind either. I don't personally pick on the Boys topic or those like it because I figure political discourse is going to happen on the 'fringe' of that topic by matter of course right? I'm sorry. I left this place for a while when it got ultra maga and the mods started editing post that weren't right wing. When was there a ban? Politics are brought up in every thread. How the fuck haven't Mr. X and Shevek been banned? They bring up politics in nearly every comment. I just got sick of hearing it and decided to respond. I had NO idea that politics here are actually banned. Are there any mods out there that might be able to clarify this "No Politics" rule?

For the record, I am very opposed to Shevek or Mr. X being banned. I actually like them both quite a lot, but for different reasons. I would very much like the political bullshit to stop.

Dazzler though, I'm not sure about him. He might be cool with killing children. And guys. I think killing children is wrong.

Charity is a doctor when she's not being a superheroine. Her healing powers in addition to her amazing intellect make her the perfect doctor. She's never lost a patient. She's works in a children's hospital that provides free care for refugee children and other disadvantaged youth.

Almost immediately post the 2016 election. The website was at EXTREME warfare over the results of the election. This entire thread is already going the ONLY direction it possibly could with an opening post and title like this, this is WHY we have the rule, so that we aren't all tearing each other's throats out politically divisive issues such as these. It's typically enforced as a 'soft' ban meaning it's fairly lenient. We don't get banned JUST for mentioning that Politics exist offhandedly, I expect we all know there aren't really ENOUGH of us to just can us all the once or thrice a year we mention something that's to do with politics, but MOST of us aren't so blatant about it as to make it the thesis statement of an entire topic thread like this.

Look at the direction this thread has gone. Read the initiating post and ask yourself 'where else could this thread have gone?' then recognize that the direction this thread has gone, is precisely the reason the ban on politics exists on this website and just shy away. There's nothing here but politics, and that's all it ever was.

She's not really the equivalent of the Black Widow. Black Widow is a femme fatale spy archetype that's morphed into an action girl. Sabra actually wears the Israeli flag in the comics and is almost always a metaphor for the Israeli state or military and she's not presented uncritically. In her first story a Palestinian kid is killed and she questions her militarism.

If she was presented as she was in the comics, it would be seen as extremely anti-Israel.

I can clarify one thing. This site isn't "Ultra Maga" as you say. It's a community about superheroines which is why political talk isn't allowed because all it does is turn people off. There are a lot of users who come here to just view content. They don't care to join in the conversation and we respect that. When the content is a bunch of political bickering, they get turned off and that in turn pisses me off because we've all invested our time building this community.

The mods do what they can. They are on volunteer basis and can't always catch everything which is why we have a reporting system.
On top of that, our mods, myself included are also friends with a lot of users on this board. So we try not to lay a heavy hand when someone has something to say. You're right, if it's a fringe comment we'll let it go and keep an eye on it to see how the conversation plays out.
As I stated earlier, y'all snuck one in here. Maybe it's a topic worth exploring but the problem is, some you can't do it without resorting to name calling or personal attacks.
