To All Producers (Please read)

Admin: If there is a more suitable forum for this, please move it?

Sorry for the rant.

I am no longer purchasing content from Clips4sale, they are crooks. Please offer content on other venues that do not charge extra fees. I hope others stop giving money to Clips4sale and I hope they go bankrupt.

If taking 40% of producers sales is not enough, they also charge fees in the form of a tax per order. They even take 20% of all tips that should be going to the producer.

And they are ticking the "Tip" jar by default so buyers need to be aware of this deceptive shit. I mistakenly hit the purchase button before deselecting the tip that was selected by default, not by me.

And if that's not enough, they are charging tax on the tips.

Wonder what tax they pay? Or are they charging for the transaction fee. But that would be a fixed amount.

States are trying to collect tax revenue from online purchases. But tips shouldn't be taxable.

Are you in the U.S.?

I tried several different ways to make a purchase, including a producer based in my home state which SHOULD trigger a tax amount but I don't see any tax added or additional tribute (tip)
And that screen looks completely different from the tip screen on C4S. The only way I found to add a tip was to edit your cart and then you could tip the store.
Are you sure this is C4S?

Yes, I'm in NJ.

And yes it's Clips4sale. It's an emailed receipt.

When I opted to check out I was redirected to the purchase screen. From there a button at the bottom of the screen needed to be clicked to finalize the purchase. I clicked it and at the same time I saw the "tip" was preselected and below it was a 2nd button that said "No Tip" but I had already made the purchase.

When C4S first started charging fees some time ago, I contacted C4S customer support. I was told by the support rep that if you make purchases from a store located outside the US, they charge foreign ATM fees. I showed them that all of my purchases were from Cali Logan's C4S store. The support rep then told me it was my bank charging the fees. I stopped purchasing from C4S for a while and I let it slide. Sometime later I found out after contacting my bank that the fees were being collected by C4S, not my bank.

Fast forward to today. I'm a long time customer and fan of Cali Logan. She sometimes posts content that is exclusive to C4S which is why I made the purchase from C4S today.

There are other venues like, 'ManyVids' who don't charge any fees and the price is usually a few dollars cheaper then C4S.

Hello,

Are creators making money off of videos on xxxxxxx, or are they selling stolen content?

At a quick glance it does not appear legit? The radio buttons that say, "Sponsored by ___________" links to another page on the same site. Nothing links to a studio/producer page. Also some studios provide links to 3rd party sellers on their own site and I've never seen that site advertised by any studio/producer as a 3rd party seller.

For example, It's not listed on Cali's site: https://allmylinks.com/calilogan

I guess we will find out if any producers actually read this thread? Because many of the producers who frequent this website have content being sold on that site.

Of course not, posting a link here is unhelpful. I’d urge you to edit your comment and remove the information. This kind of thing should be emailed to producers to seek legal recourse, not shared publicly

Nope, no producers are making money off that site, it's a pirate site. I removed the link.
Thank you. Yeah, stealing cc was my thought.

Re: To All Producers (Please read)

Tips are taxable. My mother was a waitress for a large portion of her working days and she always had to report them at the end of the year on her taxes. The exact amount might vary from state to state but if c4s is taking a piece of the pie then they have to pay taxes on that as well so they would have to pretax the sale. Unfortunately a lot of places that have employees working for tips take a percentage. You report your tips daily or weekly and they take their share out of your check. They are collecting taxes on behalf of the government so the amout of tax they charge has to be the exact amount of taxes that your state and federal taxes collect. Anything more than that is fraud.

Re: To All Producers (Please read)

I don't understand why producers would agree to a 40% loss on all sales and a 20% loss on all tips in the first place?

Is it that hard to setup your own store? Is the exposure C4S offers really worth the loss of sales revenue?

I had my own home remodeling business for over 25 years but before that I would from time to time subcontract jobs while working a 2nd job. I hated doing so because for one, the General Contractor (GC) takes up to 60% of your earnings while you incur all the expense. As a subcontractor, you still have to pay your employees the same rate, you have to carry insurance and workman's comp, it's wear and tear on your vehicles, equipment and tools. Most times you're not compensated for fuel or distance traveled. Homeowners are always trying to get something for free and there is always miscommunication between the GC, myself and the homeowner that costs time and money. I could go on but for the sake of brevity I'll stop there.

The point I'm trying to make is venues like C4S drive up costs to consumers and cut profits for producers significantly. Once my business was established, I never subcontracted another job.

Some of us do it as a side gig so the expense of running your own site is too much and there is a lot more work to updates. Also simce you have to file all your paper work and Id's with C4S and they are the distributor if there is any question about your work or talent it would most likely be brought to them. So unless you're doing something wrong you should never have to deal with them yourself. You don't have to worry about them showing up at your house and you don't have to maintain a 20 hour a week office location during normal business hopurs witch is damn near impossible for some uf us that have a full time lob.

Re: To All Producers (Please read)

Any sort of income is taxable, that's include tips. Youtube have been taking a cut with tax with their content creator on super chats (which is a kind of tips/donation/whatever you want to call it) since ages ago, that is based on the origin of operation, since Youtube is an American based company, they will have to conform to US revenue law.

On the other hand, if this is a "Sales Tax" then it can be both from base of operation or the country of purchase. Country like the UK, Australia or some US States have sales tax (VAT in the UK, GST for Australia) and that is collectable even if you purchase from overseas where sales tax is not a thing. So if I am buying a collectable action figure in US from eBay and send to Australia, eBay will charge GST for me exclusively, where the same item selling from the same seller may not if the buyer is American or from anywhere sale tax is not a thing.

That clears things up a bit. Yeah, I can understand if it's not a full time gig, it would not be worth setting up your own store but there are other venues that sell the same material cheaper and don't charge any fees or taxes to consumers. I think I read somewhere that ManyVids only takes 20% of each sale but I'm not sure about the percentage.

Hello! First of all, thank you HiDef for supporting my superheroine content. I do have my CalisFetishFactory.com store that Im trying to get going and post a mix of old/remastered, new and versions of clips that are not allowed on other sites. Most of my clips are eventually available on manyvids as well. Its just a matter of finding the time to update all of these sites. Youre welcome to message me with the clips youre interested in and I can prioritize posting them on my other platforms.

Unfortunately, creating your own site from ground up isnt that easy/very expensive and the 40% is worth it to most of us who are not programmers. Even then, cyber safety is a concern and its hard to beat the traffic driven in from the bigger download sites. Its kind of like owning a McDonald's. If you have one in the mall, the rent will be higher, but the store will pretty much always be busy. You can open one in a small town and pay much less rent, but you'll have far fewer customers/lower sales.

Thank you, Cali for taking the time to explain. This has given me a better perspective of the industry in general. I have built a few websites years ago, just to showcase remodeling jobs and to provide another way to contact me. Nothing like what would be needed to sell video. I guess 40% isn't so bad if they provide a secure payment platform, a large audience and peace of mind.

I did join your fetish factory site for a month when you only had about a dozen vids up. I cancelled only because I'm really mostly interested in your superheroine and fight club stuff. I have made a few individual purchases from there since, even some other than the 2 genres I mentioned. I recently purchased, "Sexy Wrestling Federation, Cali vs Elana". Wow, you should dress like that more often, you look marvelous! I've been a fan for a long time. I would love to see Battle Babe back in action again, the black leather miniskirt and the shiny purple bustier with matching cape, gloves, boots and of course the Batgirl mask. I think I purchased all of the Battle Babe vids from you over the years. I have since upscaled them all to 1080p. I would also love to see you in a shiny purple bat-kini. Maybe you could wear it under your Batgirl costume for when that crafty Harley Quinn (Lydia) takes advantage of you.

Yes, that would be awesome, if I could ask for videos to be available on other platforms. How would I message you? I don't have Instagram or Twitter and my Facebook account is tied to my local Borough's website. I'm the chairperson of my local environmental commission, so I'd rather not use my FB account. I can't let anyone know I dress up in spandex and fight crime at night, LOL.

Battle Babe! What a throw back. Im 99% sure I still have the corset for that costume. So many memories!

Of course, a superhero should never reveal their identity. Feel free to email me at [email protected]

Happy weekend!
