Oh, this is fun. Probably ill-advised in a financial sense, but so much fun.
Morena Baccarin has been cast as Sorceress.
The other (hopefully) sexy female cast members will be:
Camila Mendes as Teela (Veronica Lodge on Riverdale)
Alison Brie as Evil-Lyn (Zoya the Destroyer on GLOW)
Nicholas Galitzine is He-Man.
I don't know who this Johannes guy is (below) playing Fisto, but face it, we just like to say 'Fisto'.
Release date is in June 2026.

That is an incredible cast!
However bad the writing might be, it will be decent.

Re: Masters of the Universe live-action (Amazon/MGM, 2026)
It's He-Man, if it was well-written and didn't stop every so often to spend at least a few minutes explaining to you that drugs/smoking/racism etc are bad then it wouldn't be right.
Re: Masters of the Universe live-action (Amazon/MGM, 2026)
Teela: "I had a really close call today. And it all started when I was so anxious to do something that I didn't stop to think of the danger, and wouldn't listen to anyone who tried to warn me."
Man At Arms: "Well, we parents might not always be right, but we try, because we love our children, and try to do what's best for them. And I'll tell you a secret: we really hate to say no to something they really want, so when we do, it's because we have a pretty good reason. So try to remember that, the next time your mother or father says no to you."
Yeah...I guess getting barbed wire bondage could be a *metaphor* for drugs and smoking, just like eggs in a frying pan.
But Man At Arms could also have told her not to dress so sexy, and then the bad guys wouldn't want to tie her up and stand around leering at her while they divulge their evil plans. That probably would not have gone over so well with the cartoon censors.
But then again, the cartoon censors left the best part alone: I watched a bunch of those "Life Lessons" videos to see what morals the cartoon had imparted (answer: really good ones.) And I noticed that every female character in MOTU was gorgeous and shapely. Every single one, whether good or evil. There was no fat-positive or ugly-positive or neurodivergent or allergic-to-peanuts, whatever. The 1980s had the right idea.
Re: Masters of the Universe live-action (Amazon/MGM, 2026)
^I so love Filmation's cartoon style. Nowadays, it seems like every cartoon is trying to look like (the worst) anime style
Re: Masters of the Universe live-action (Amazon/MGM, 2026)
I am sure it will be a career ender for all involved. I look forward to it's release...

I'm sure Teela will be an angry lesbian truck driver like she was in the last animated series.

I always thought it was gay fetish fuel, so some angry lesbians would be a welcomed addition

Maybe Teela will introduce Adam AND Adora to the art of the Strap-on!! With pals like Fisto and Ram Man it's gotta be kinky
Re: Masters of the Universe live-action (Amazon/MGM, 2026)
Aaaaaaannnnnddd....the movie's Current Year.
If it isn't, then you give me another explanation as to why they had to invent the characters of "Suzie" (Sasheer Zamata of Saturday Night Live, with the current 'Persis Khambatta' haircut trending among a certain crowd) and "Hussein", and inject a "He-Man Goes to
Earth" sequence in the movie in order to cast them.
Surely they aren't doing this just to be able to qualify for Academy Awards? (heh)
Surely it wasn't just to ensure that they had three members of the MCU in the cast? (Elba, Baccarin, Zamata)
Why can't the movie take place entirely in Eternia? In the 80s, movies created entire worlds: Dark Crystal, Krull, Conan, Star Wars, whatever. And never felt the need to step out of them. Every He-Man and She-Ra property did the same for decades.
I can only think of one reason this has changed: Presentism. The idea that values of another culture or time period need to be judged by the values that society currently holds, or at least believes that it holds. I guess that's the morally relativistic lesson of this particular episode, boys and girls!
But maybe it will still be 'fun', who knows?

I'll reserve judgement, but modern films are rarely good.
Original He-Man isn't high art, but Meg Foster is super hot in it.

You are correct, sir! The 1980s were such a wonderful time. I see "Chelsea Field" and "Christina Pickles" played Teela and Sorceress.ivandobsky wrote: ↑1 year agoI'll reserve judgement, but modern films are rarely good.

And the fact that it was a Golan/Globus production makes it attractive to me.
I don't know why I never watched this movie. I guess that's why I had no idea that part of it was ALSO set on Earth, involving two teenagers named "Julie" and "Kevin". I guess "Suzie" and "Hussein" are just the Current Year version of them, then.
I will do so tonight!

OMG! I never knew He-Man was so subversive.batgirl1969 wrote: ↑1 year agoMaybe Teela will introduce Adam AND Adora to the art of the Strap-on!! With pals like Fisto and Ram Man it's gotta be kinky

Watched it! It was fantastic high camp. Everything you want a comic book movie to be, and from what I understand, it was highly influenced
by the works of Jack Kirby. Also a bit reminiscent of Flash Gordon, or maybe that's just me.
Teela was hot. Lots of great shots of Chelsea in her tight spandex uniform, although it didn't look much like the animated version of the character.
Courteney Cox was also standard 80s cute (she was 23 at the time - well before 'Friends'). Basically had the Molly Ringwald look but with brown hair.
I have a few questions:
- Were they sponsored by Rhodes keyboards?
- Were there also sponsorships from La-Z-Boy and H&R Block?
- Where did that pit in Castle Grayskull suddenly come from?
- How was Lubik allowed to say "holy shit" twice?
- Where did Lubik suddenly find that hot babe at the end of the movie?
That is all. I recommend everyone check this 1987 cult classic out if they haven't done so yet.
Now let's see if they can recreate the magic of Golan Globus in 2025.

He-Man's mother is supposedly from Earth, so that is one way that it can make sense (if they use it at all).
The women they have cast all look great, at least, so that gives me reason to hope.

We have to accept there is a certain amount of momentum in play and it may take 2-4 years before Hollywood steers in a new direction. Its not like they had a major DOGE that cleared out the old thinking. Those people still exist. Even if the audience wants something else, the ideological people are still entrenched.
I would say support more indy developers and let the old dinosaurs fail.

Will spandex, cleavage, cameltoe and one curvaceous rear end reign eternal...in Eternia?
I clipped these photos out, so you don't have to! They're from a paparazzi page on IG called Deuxmoi.
Camilla Mendes as Teela. Hopeful signs.

Yeah, this is going to be a career ender for all those involved. I don't think this will have the budget to out do "Hercules in New York" (1969).
It will soundly land with a thud next to a variety of "we can't afford to set the story in a fantasy universe, so let have them visit Southern California today.... "Cannibal Women of the Avocado Jungle of Death" level of writing and acting without the benefit of Karen Waldron or Shannon Tweed

Camilla Mendes is pretty hot and would love to see her in some Teela Bondage - Skelators Dungeon. I just have a bad feeling about this. I hope they have some good fight scenes with some awesome sword fights and not some crazy editing ones. If that picture is He-Man and his sword (which looks like a plastic fake) then I fear we may have a long road ahead of us. They should have hired Yuen Woo Ping or Jonathan Eusebio to do the fights.
