Host error issues

I've had a pretty torrid time the last few days struggling to get onto the site at all. I don't know if this is connected with the front page not working for a while a few days ago.

I also can't help noticing this host issue seems to be overlapping with massive spikes in traffic from what I have to assume are swarms of bots. There were like 20 000 guests online yesterday when I couldn't get on, and today it was 21 000. Is this a case of too much traffic causing the error? I don't want to speculate too much about where the bots are coming from, but is it possible that someone, somehow, can turn them down a little so they don't overwhelm the site? Assuming this has been an excessive traffic issue, of course.

Most likely it's 'AI' ingesting this site and everything everyone has posted here since its inception, both in writing and images.

I just got back from FetishCon and another work related trip, so I haven't had time to delve into this. I will be assessing it in the next couple of days.

This forum needs to be updated so that's coming this week.

Also, almost since day 1 of this forum, it's a favorite target for automated bots. I am going to assume that there is a list, since that's usually how hackers work, and once your hostname is on that list, you're constantly getting traffic swarms and hacker attacks.

When I changed IP's (changed servers) it let up a bit but now it's back. I will most likely need to upgrade Cloudflare protection and some other countermeasures to keep those brute force attacks from happening.
