The Star of Buck Rogers, Gil Gerard has passed away at 82. Buck Roger's was probably one my favorite TV space opera. The introduction of shiny, stretchy costumes lithe young women (especially Erin Gray) will always be dear to my heart.

Re: Gil Gerard passes at 82
It's a shame he never got the chance to pass the torch to a new Buck Rogers, like Buster Crabbe was able to do on his show.
Also worth a watch: his appearance on Battle of the Network Stars, where he threw softballs in the dunking tank, while his costars razzed him by singing "Buck Rogers, The All-American Boy."
RIP Gil Gerard.

RIP.
It was a great show, and I am in no way bitter that his insecurity about being upstaged by Erin Grey as star of the show led to her character being downgraded and season two being so awful.
Not bitter about that at all. Honest.
Definitely not going to die mad about that.
Seeing the news of his death I did a bit of digging, and seems like he was a decent guy who struggled with addictions for much of his life, yet managed to mostly navigate adulthood without doing anything too bad to anybody other than himself. This explains his somewhat patchy career. Making it to 82 with the life and personal complications that he faced is some achievement. And nobody seems to have any significant bad words to say about him (other than the Buck Rogers season two thing mentioned above, which, I mean, let's try and get past it).

Sad to hear of the passing of Gil. I was hoping to meet him at some point, but it was not to be - never got down to Georgia.
Here's the background: Six years ago, Gil's wife Janet (who makes jewelry and wearables under the name 'Rayguns and Rust')
had a booth at Steel City Con outside Pittsburgh. When I met Janet, I told her about how I was a big fan of Gil and Erin on the
Buck Rogers show, and how that show (and others of that time period, like WW and Isis) influenced the production of our
superheroine live-action series, which was then in the middle of its first season.
Janet gave us a pair of her jeweled bracelets and a jeweled belt for use on the show. They became a standard part of the costume
of our rainbow-powered supervillainess, Dark Spectra (see photo below). We put her in the credits for the first few times her creations
were used, and we're still following her on Twitter. We are still using them as part of the costume to this very day. So, that happened.
RIP Gil.
