DISCLAIMER: USE OF DETECTIVE (dc universe) COMICS CHARACTERS ARE SOLELY ADDED FOR AN ELEMENT OF REALISM TO HEIGHTEN THE STORY'S DRAMA. NO COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT IS INTENDED.
It all started a year ago when Superman and Batman had captured Saffron Otanushi, daughter to billionaire industrialist Hiro Otanushi, as she had attempted to steal WayneTech company secrets for LexCorp. Having done business with Saffron's father over the years in Rhode Island, where Otanushi Industries is based and known Saffron practically since birth, the Batman knew that the young heiress would not have entered the corporate espionage game willingly. After hours of grilling by both Comissioner Gordon, and the Bat, Saffron revealed that Lex Luthor, in concert with Kazuo (Hiro's older brother), had been holding Hiro hostage, and forced the 18-year-old to use her collegiate internship to infiltrate WayneTech and steal secrets. In exchange for her testimony, Saffron received an extremely generous sentence of six months in prison and ther remainder of the five-year penalty to be served as probation.
While Superman and Batman captured Kazuo, Lex Luthor managed to slip away. With Luthor still on the run, Saffron was more than remorseful for giving into Luthor's strongarm tactics in the first place. After serving her jail time, Saffron used her skills as a rock climber to scale the tall building where the bat signal sat, and turned it on to summon Batman. Once Batman arrived, she bowed apologetically and explained why she had called him.
"Batman, I know Luthor is still out there. I want to stop him myself. He must pay for turning my Uncle against Father and forcing me to dishonor my family name. Please, I ask you to train me in crimefighting, so I can assure this will not happen to me, or any other person. I ask you not only as the man whom saved me, but also as a friend. Please let me join you in your fight for justice." Saffron pleaded.
Batman could see the tears welling up in the face of the reformed henchwoman. He could tell by the anger in her voice that she was sincere, and not just shining him on to make another attempt on WayneTech Enterprises. "I will train you, Miss Ontanushi." Batman said. "However, once I'm finished training you, you'll have to search for Luthor on your own. Superman and I have other villains to capture, and we can use all the help we need to stop him. Besides, I lost my family to a scumbag like Luthor when I was a boy. He killed my parents. I know that Luthor will not stop until he destroys you and your father."
"Wait a minute, are you...." Before Saffron could complete her question, Batman removed his cowl. "Uncle Bruce!"
"Yes." Bruce replied. "Now come on. You have work to do."

Saphfyre--Abandoned for the duration
Due to time constraints on the public computers I have had to use recently, I am hereby ABANDONING the "Saphfyre" saga for the duration (at least until I have my own computer again and have more time to not only develop a decent story, but also make a lengthy post at my leisure.) :x
I'm not even sure if I can develop another character story in the meantime, but if I do, you can guarantee that it will be posted in the Stories forum for your enjoyment. :|
