That's pretty funny. When the show was on the air, the Catholic League made a big fuss about the way Burt's manliness fit into his tights. Maybe this amusing advertisement sort of takes that idea and inverts it.
I always felt kind of sorry for the Boy Wonder. I remember puberty well enough.
Certain parts of the male anatomy suddenly wake up, stand up, and make themselves a bit more prominent than one might like, what with all those new hormones flushing one's system. I imagine trying to live that sort of thing down, while dressing like Robin does, and I flinch a little bit.
The poor guy must have some kind of complex, as a result. I would have changed my name to Nightwing too, under the circumstances.

It also shows Batman didn't believe in a Bat-Jock strap.

I am a catholic too. But critic was not good, because the Batman show was a pure art. The costumes were so amazing sexy not gay. They had really style.

Religions in the U.S. seem to be a bit crazy, when it comes to any hint, however vague, of human sexuality in the culture.
This particular group likely wasn't representative of the formal Catholic stance on the matter, or of Catholics as a whole. They were, however, rather upset about the way poor Burt's tights fit. The producers of the show made Mr. Ward take some kind of drug which was supposed to create the, y'know, the shrinkage. He doesn't seem to have been very happy about the matter, understandably, but now seems to relate the stories with good humor. It was one of a couple of big kerfuffles surrounding the show, the other major one involving seat belts in the Batmobile.
