Widow stars Stella as the titular role who after stopping two Hitmen from assassinating an American senator finds that he wasn’t the target at all and villain Hydra had just used him as a way of getting her exactly where she wanted her, But what has she got planned for widow? and can she escape this dreaded fate in time?

And the first thing that jumped out at me about this film was its slick and professional direction feeling like a real breath of fresh air from all the hand held/ amateur feeling I get from most of these films and the story itself moves at the pace of a Hollywood film which surprisingly just gets you more engaged because its such a new and different way of doing things and because it takes itself so seriously you do too.

Another great positive is the soundtrack, which also has the quality of a high value Hollywood superhero film, making the already ambitious direction choice feel even more epic with its Hanz Zimmer-like quality throughout, while perfectly changing tone as each scene does and not just sounding big and epic all the time which is masterfully done and you definitely wont be able to miss this positive.

As far as the acting goes just like every other aspect of this film it is extremely professional and consistently competent, both Stella and Areana(Hydra) really bounce off each other in the scenes where they’re clashing intellectually, aswell as both keeping a sense of decency and an earnest quality to both their performances and they both really sell it without relying on camp factor or superheroine clichés throughout.

The costume design is one of the films biggest positives both looking extremely well made and proficiently crafted aswell as both being made almost entirely of wet-look latex, Widow’s having more of a wet-look feel and Hydra’s looking much shinier and having a more PVC look but both being completely captivating and absorbing to watch.

Another great thing about the direction is how it doesn’t result to overly sexualizing our heroine or the situation too much which gives it even more respectability to hold our attention without resulting to provocative shots throughout and the premise itself takes a long time to actually become sexually driven, keeping us in a false sense of security and therefore giving a much more thrilling moment when it finally does happen and maybe even more so than other films that are completely sexually themed throughout.

The action and sound effects have tons of weight to them making you feel every hit and keep you on the edge of your seat, they are slickly made and extremely engaging with these sharp camera jolts to always keep your attention and in the hands of any other director these scenes could become extremely un-engaging (as I really don’t like full fight scenes without something sexual going on underneath).

The writing and the way the story progresses is very serious throughout again amplifying the blockbuster-like qualities really making you feel like your watching any regular superhero film, although there are sprinkles of wit and comedy they only amplify the films excellence by adding even more layers to its seemingly never-ending greatness,

and the titillating ideas it brings up are ridiculously well thought out and innovative, they are some of the best I've ever seen and definitely raise the bar for heroine films to come, and even when the heated stuff does die down it still somehow manages to keep just as much attention when it goes back to its serious style afterwards.

So all in all this is an extremely solid example of what the next level of heroine films should evolve to with its extremely professional and serious approach it makes you invested like you’re watching any other high budget blockbuster plus adding abundantly alluring costumes and provocative ideas that will thoroughly enthral you even more (not that that’s even needed), so with all that being said I definitely have to recommend this film.

10/10
