Would it be possible to create a new category just for producers who offer customs and then let every producer who offers customs to have one post like a tag line or whatever listing their services and prices.
Then all producers who do customs can post ONCE in this category.
to keep it fair they could be listed alphabetically

the final result being a catagory with every producer who offers customs as their own thread (so unscrupulous producers dont flood with bumps forcing their thread to the top)
and people looking for customs can just browse through this section of producers to get an idea of who's offering what and at what price

Also to make sure members dont post in that section (its supposed to be informational, not interactive) once a producer writes their bit the moderators can lock it so no-one can post. this will also save future issues with disgruntled clients or even worse shadow puppets made by other producers writing bogus fake claims to discredit a producer. this would make it informational, safe, neat, and clear of any shenanigans

One problem I can think of right off the bat, no matter how "fairly" we do the list, one producer will be on the top and one will be on the bottom so it would have to be a random list which means this list would most likely live as a wordpress page which is easier to create and program. Since there wouldn't be any discussion happening with this list, it would also make sense to post this list off of the front page.

your sandbox and you know how best to run it. the beauty of alphabetical is that its universally fair. one cant complain that they chose a name that starts with Z!

on the contrary trying any other method other than alpha is bound to get most panties in a bunch because if you base it on when they joined some people would still be angry. if you want you can make it reverse alpha . I will be at the bottom of the list but I wont care because the purpose of the list is to give people options that they can choose. if you're at the top of the list but your customs are crap and you charge too much no-one is going to bother so bottom of the list is same as top of the list. I know I wont be getting much (or any) but what Im going to get isnt the point. its to offer members of this forum one organized list that they can go through without producers bumping threads to make themselves on top all of the time.

but again you have a lot going on and I know that something like this isnt remotely on the top of the to do list so it was a suggestion.

Ultimately though as the leader of this group you have the final say and if they like it or not isnt the point its to provide a service to the forum members. As a producer I will be the first to tell you forums arent about producers. they are a service thats offered but not the end all and be all. thats how ive been running the chloroforum.
when the majority of the members asked for the stories and multimedia to be higher up than the commercial section i listened because they had a point. the forum isnt about vendors and producers. they are a tiny cog in a far larger machine.

WHAT?! That NEVER happens here! The recent post list NEVER gets bumped by any producers... ever. Heck my site update posts last at a whole 12 minutes on the recent update area.

When i suggested that the category be alphabetical because it is the most universal way of putting it up without people complaining I should have added that Alphabetical is exactly the way you arranged the producers corner. How many producers bitched because they were at the bottom of the list?

I seriously see a benefit in this because there are several threads (by several different people) asking about customs and how to make them and who can do what. having a section dedicated to just producers customs makes sense and would eliminate confusion

and honestly if a producer is going to bitch about an alphabetical system then that producer should be ashamed. seriously. its a uniform system.
its meant to be the fairest way to list a group of people and not show preference.

I could have insisted that the company name be Evangeline von winter since she is the principle model, the owner of the company, and the portal website, but instead decided to go with Knights of Gotham because.....holy shit hold on to your seats.... it reflected better on the product we were making.
Sure i could have insisted Evangeline so the company name was closer to the top, but the name we chose reflected the genre of videos better even though that puts us in the middle of the list.
Personal its my opinion that anyone bitching and moaning because a name they chose puts them at the bottom of the list is just stupid and reflects poorly on their self worth.

In reply to the producers corner, that section is more informational and fun that it is competitive.

When you have a list of studios that do customs, at the end of the day, it's a competitive list. It's a simple piece of code that will allow me to randomize the listing and each time it's viewed, the sort order will be different. I think that's the fairest way to do this.

Randomizing a list is hardly an innovative idea, I actually learned it in the 7th grade as part of my programming curriculum. I think it's fair to everyone involved that they get to spend a little time at the top Also, I'll had a sort button so you can sort by name as well. Easy.

I'll work on it. Any producers that want to be included let me know. I guess I'll do an official announcement about it.
