Silver Osprey

It was a quiet spring evening for the residents of Raleigh, North Carolina. Most of the city’s inhabitants had retired to their homes, but a few were out enjoying the beautiful spring weather. The quiet atmosphere was suddenly shattered as an ambulance raced through the downtown streets, its lights and sirens blaring.

“How’s it going back there,” Paramedic Cassie Laughlin called to her partner who was working on their patient, the victim of a drive-by shooting.
Paramedic Mike Anderson called back, “Bleeding is under control and he’s breathing on his own now. What’s our ETA?”
“14 minutes,” Cassie replied, “Want me to call it in for ya?”
“Please and thank you,” was Mike’s response.
Cassie was reaching for the mic when an SUV cut in front of the ambulance.
“Get out of the way moron,” Cassie shouted as she leaned on the horn.
Mike called from the back, “What’s going on?”
“Some idiot just cut in front of us,” Cassie explained. She was not prepared for what happened next.

A man leaned out the side window of the SUV and leveled an AK-47 assault rifle at the ambulance.
“What the…” was all Cassie had time to say as the man started firing. She swore as she turned the rig off of the road they were on.
“What was that,” her partner called from the back.
“We’re getting shot at,” Cassie practically yelled as she keyed the radio mounted on the dashboard. “Signal 25, Signal 25, EMS 9 is under fire, request law enforcement,” Cassie spoke in a surprisingly calm tone.
The radio squawked back, “Dispatch to RPD, EMS 9 is requesting back up, shots fired, priority one, all units respond.”

The gunman pulled himself back inside the SUV as he shouted to the driver, “Get back on ‘em, we’re not letting that weasel get away.”
“On in,” the driver replied as he spun the vehicle around and chased after the ambulance that was transporting the guy who had ratted them out.

Mike looked out the back windows to see an SUV with a man hanging out the side. “They’re back on us,” he called to his partner just as bullets started ripping through the back of the rig, sending equipment and supplies flying.

“Crap, hang on,” Cassie yelled as she started swerving the ambulance. Seconds later she felt a bump and the ambulance lurched. “We just lost a tire, brace yourself,” Cassie shouted as she slammed on the brakes, seeing that they were rapidly approaching the side of a building.

The ambulance smashed into the building. Cassie was caught by the driver-side airbag while Mike went sliding into the cabinet where medications were kept. Both medics were stunned, but received only minor bruises.

The SUV stopped 15 feet behind the wrecked emergency vehicle and 5 men hopped out carrying assault rifles and pistols. “Let’s finish this,” one of the thugs said.
“Yeah let’s…” another thug started before he went flying and smashed into the windshield of the SUV, knocked out cold.

The remaining gunmen looked at the spot where their friend had been standing and were surprised to see a very fit young woman in her early twenties standing before them. She wore a pair of black leather boots that ended just below her knees. Her strong, shapely legs were covered by a tight, grey, spandex-like material. A set of black briefs and a silver belt clung to her waist. The woman’s chest and arms were covered by the same skintight grey material that covered her legs. A black silhouette of a bird of prey was stretched over her impressive chest. She wore a pair of small black and grey gloves and had a long black cape clipped to her collar. On the back of her cape was a white version of the symbol on her chest. The woman’s black hair had streaks of white in it and was tied back in a ponytail. She had a pair of bright blue eyes on her beautiful face, which had a confident and determined look on it.

Standing in the traditional heroine pose, hands on hips and feet shoulder-width apart, the 5’ 11” girl spoke in a very serious tone, “I don’t approve of people who attack public safety officers.”

The thugs had heard about this black and grey clad heroine. Word on the street was that she was incredibly strong, fast, and a skilled martial artist, but they never imagined that they would run into her.

“S…Silver…Osprey,” one of the gunmen managed to stammer.

“I see you’ve heard of me,” the young heroine replied confidently, “I would advise you to surrender.”

“Fat chance,” the thug closest to her shouted as he charged at the heroine, intending to club her with his pistol.

Silver Osprey caught the man by his wrist. Letting the thug’s own momentum carry him forward, she stepped behind him, twisting his arm in the process. This caused the gunman to cry out and drop his weapon. Silver Osprey dropped him with a quick elbow to the back of his neck.

“Holy shit…” another criminal said. The young heroine looked to see the three remaining gunmen had taken several steps away from her; each wore a shocked expression on his face.

“Waste her,” one commanded. All three began to raise their weapons.

The heroine leapt high into the air. Performing a summersault in mid-air, she landed on another crook. Using his body as a springboard, Silver Osprey jumped into the air while the man collapsed to the pavement. Executing a perfect back flip, she landed between the two remaining thugs.

Silver Osprey didn’t give them any time to react. She grabbed the shirt of her closest opponent and allowed herself to fall backwards, taking the gunman with her. Using her powerful legs, the heroine kicked the man over her and into the other thug.

She jumped to her feet and spun quickly to find the two men flat on the concrete.

One man began to slowly get up. Silver Osprey grabbed him by his collar and effortlessly lifted him off his feet.

“I did warn you,” she said in an ‘I told you so’ manner. The heroine could tell by the look in the thug’s eyes that he was scared senseless.

The sound of approaching police sirens pierced the night air. Soon the area was swarming with Raleigh’s finest.

Silver Osprey turned the five gunmen over to the police. She then met with the senior detective who had arrived on-scene. While giving the detective details of the short fight, Silver Osprey learned the gunmen’s motive.

They had actually been drug dealers. The patient that EMS 9 had been transporting had apparently been giving RPD information about the dealers’ operations. Fortunately, another ambulance had arrived at the wreck and picked up the informant. It looked like he was going to pull through.

After speaking with the detective, Silver Osprey went to check on the two paramedics who had been in EMS 9. They had received only minor bruises and to the young heroine’s surprise, they were sitting on the back bumper of the wrecked ambulance joking about everything that had just happened to them.

Once Silver Osprey determined that she was no longer needed, she took off into the night sky.

As she flew through the city, the young heroine reflected on how she had come to be.
…………………………

Samantha Hunter was a wildlife expert who had graduated from North Carolina State University. Following graduation, the university had offered her a position, studying birds of prey. Her work would mainly be in the field, observing and collecting data. The 22 year old had jumped at the opportunity.

Sam had been driving home from the field one day when she was forced to stop on the side of the road by a police escorted convoy. The convoy of trucks was transporting radioactive waste from a nearby power plant. As the final truck was passing her, several of its tires blew out, causing it to tip over onto Sam’s parked car.

When the truck had tipped over, the container it was transporting had cracked open and Sam was exposed to its radioactive contents. It took emergency workers in hazmat suits over an hour to cut the girl loose, decontaminate her, and get her on an ambulance. Her heart stopped several times en-route to the hospital but she stabilized by the time the ambulance arrived at the E.R.

Doctors were baffled; the amount of radiation that Samantha had been exposed to should have killed her. Instead, she made a complete recovery and was released a couple of days after the accident.

Quickly, Sam realized that things were different. The radiation had caused certain genes in her DNA to mutate. This mutation granted the beautiful 22 year old heightened reflexes, enhanced eyesight, accelerated healing, enhanced hearing, the ability to fly, and limited invulnerability.

Sam’s strength increased dramatically. Though she wasn’t as strong as Supergirl or American Star, the young girl with able to lift armored cars and pry open heavy, sealed doors without difficulty. She was also faster than any normal human now, though she couldn’t hope to keep up with a heroine like Lightspeed.

She also developed increased stamina. Sam could go days, nearly weeks with no sleep and just a couple of hours of sleep were more than enough for her.

The last change was also the most obvious, at least to the general public. Sam’s raven-black hair developed streaks of white. While several of her friends and colleagues had suggesting dying her hair, Samantha liked the new look.

With her new found powers and years of martial arts training, Sam realized that she could do a lot of good. She adopted the name Silver Osprey, after one of her favorite predatory birds.
…………………………

It had been several months since the accident and Samantha loved the life of a heroine. She got such a great feeling from helping others. To make things even better, the city of Raleigh had welcomed her presence and she had established a good working relationship with local law enforcement, fire, and EMS. Also, her job at the university gave her a lot of free time, allowing her more opportunities to fight crime.

Since she was an expert in several martial arts styles and didn’t know the limits of her invulnerability, Sam preferred to use speed and technique instead of brute force to subdue criminals.

Samantha decided that she would fly around for a couple more hours before calling it a night. She had promised to meet a friend for coffee in the morning.
…………………………

The abandoned warehouse had been converted into a makeshift lab by its current owner. A 6’ 2” dirty blonde wearing a black skirt, white blouse, and white lab coat looked into a microscope. The 26 year old woman stepped back from the microscope and sighed in frustration. “Another failed experiment,” Lisa Carlson muttered to herself.

Dr. Carlson was a geneticist who had worked for NC State University. Six months ago she had been fired, simply because some of her experiments had violated some moral code. Never mind the fact that she was close to unlocking the genes in human DNA that allowed for enhanced abilities. No, the damn board had said that her work just raised too many questions.

Regardless, Lisa was determined to continue her research. If successful, her experiments would allow her to grant super powers to herself or whoever she pleased. It would make her incredibly wealthy and influential. However, since she no longer had access to the university’s vast resources, the doctor had to resort to desperate measures.

Several months ago, she had sabotaged the tires on a truck that was transporting radioactive waste from a power plant.

Lisa’s little sabotage had resulted in Samantha gaining her powers, but neither woman was aware of this.

While emergency crews were cleaning up the wreck, Lisa had snuck in and stolen some of the radioactive material for use in her experiments. Unfortunately, those experiments had yielded nothing conclusive.

Looking down at the newspaper laying on the lab table, Dr. Carlson got an idea. Perhaps she was going about things the wrong way. Instead of creating, maybe she should try observing. This new heroine, Silver Osprey, provided the perfect opportunity. If the doctor could take some scans and tissue samples, the young heroine may provide the key to unlimited human potential. Lisa began to consider how to get Silver Osprey into her lab.

Re: Silver Osprey

Sam was sitting inside a Starbuck’s sipping coffee, waiting on her friend. She wore a white tank top, black shorts, and a pair of flip-flops. Her black and white hair hung down and just barely cascaded over her shoulders. A pair of stylish, wire-rimmed glasses helped conceal her bright blue eyes.

Finally, her friend entered the coffee shop, still in his work clothes. Spotting Sam, he nodded and smiled at her as he walked to the counter to order his coffee.

Sam stood as her friend approached the table. The two embraced as Sam spoke, “It’s great to see you Mike.”
“It’s great to see you too Sam,” Mike Anderson replied as he sat across from her.

The two had met in high school and become close friends. They had stayed close as they went to their separate colleges and frequently met to catch up. Although Sam trusted Mike, she had not told him that she was Silver Osprey or even that her accident had given her powers. She didn’t want to put him at risk. Silver Osprey may not be well known in the super heroine or villain community yet, but she was no fool. Sam was well aware of the lengths potential enemies would go to in order to get to her.

“So, had an explosive shift did we?” Sam said with a playfully sly grin, referring to the SUV taking shots at Mike’s ambulance.
Mike set his coffee down and smiled, “How did you hear about that?”
“I saw it on the news last night,” Sam explained. It wasn’t a lie; she had watched the news before going to bed. “I’m happy that you’re okay.”
“Just another day at the office,” Mike responded, “Honestly, it’s nights like that that make the job fun and exciting.”
Sam shook her head, she still couldn’t completely grasp why Mike loved being a paramedic so much, but she was glad that he had found a profession that made him happy.

“Was it the job, or the fact that you got to see your dream girl last night that made it exciting,” Sam joked. The comment made Mike blush and Sam couldn’t help but giggle at his expense. He had admitted to Sam a while ago that he was fascinated by her heroic alter-ego.

“Awe, poor Mikey, did I embarrass you?” Sam giggled at her friend’s embarrassment.
“So I like the fact that there is a girl who can kick ass and look good doing it, what’s wrong with that,” Mike defended himself, unaware of the fact that his favorite super heroine and best friend were the same person.

Now it was Sam who blushed slightly at Mike’s comment about her looking good beating up bad guys, but Mike failed to notice.

“So how’s your work going,” Mike asked, desperate to change the subject.
“Pretty good, though it will be a couple more weeks before the university assigns me my next research project,” Sam replied.
“Oh poor baby, stuck at home with nothing to do but sleep and watch movies,” Mike replied with fake sympathy and a smile.
“Isn’t that what you do at the station all day?” his friend replied.
“Touché,” Mike said as the two friends laughed.

Mike changed the subject again, “So how’s your brother doing, I haven’t spoken to him in a while.” He was referring to Sam’s twin brother.
“Brent’s doing well,” Sam replied, “We talk about once a week, says he’s working for the NSA up in Chicago but won’t give me the details.”

That was the truth; her brother didn’t tell her what his job was. Though, to be fair, Sam hadn’t told her twin about her new status as a super heroine. It wasn’t that she didn’t trust him, he was family and she loved him. Sam just didn’t want to burden him with that knowledge.

“You have to convince him to come down and visit, I haven’t seen him in a couple of years,” Mike replied.
“I might be able to arrange that,” Sam responded.

The two friends continued to chat for about twenty minutes. Eventually thought, their meeting had to end. Mike needed to sleep since he had another night shift this evening. Sam, since she didn’t have any university work to attend to, was going to patrol the city. The two hugged and parted ways.
…………………………

Sam turned the water off and stepped out of the shower.

She had returned home to get something to eat and take a shower before the nightly criminal activity started. She had spent the day patrolling Raleigh and had encountered little criminal activity. Sam was however, able to assist with a structural fire and several vehicle wrecks. Fortunately, no one was killed.

Sam dried herself off and threw the towel in the hamper. The young heroine tied her black, white-streaked hair into a ponytail as she stepped into her bedroom.

She lived in a rather large condo on the outskirts of Raleigh. The condo took the entire top floor of the building she was in and gave her a good amount of privacy. Sam had only been able to afford the place because Brent had sent her some money. The young girl smiled to herself; her twin brother could be so generous at times.

Sam had laid her Silver Osprey costume out on her bed. For the most part, it was a one piece body suit.

The suit was made out of a next generation, spandex-like material. It had actually been suggested by her brother, though he didn’t know what she had truly intended to use it for. The material regulated the temperature of the wearer. This meant that whether it was summer or winter, Sam stayed perfectly comfortable. The material didn’t wrinkle, was easy to clean, and extremely flexible, making it easy to get into. It also stayed in place and maintained its shape once she put it on.

Grabbing the body suit, Sam started to slide it up her strong, shapely legs and over her hips. She took a moment to make sure that the belt and briefs were in their proper place before pulling the suit up her waist and over her impressive chest. Sam pushed her arms through the sleeve portions of the suit, poking her hands through the openings in the ends of the sleeves. Finally, she pulled the collar over her shoulders and it slid into place around the base of her neck. Sam took a few seconds to smooth out any imperfections in the suit. She loved how the material felt against her skin and how it showed off her curves. Next, Sam slid her grey-covered feet into her black leather boots. She then attached her black cape to the collar of her suit. Finally, she pulled on her small black gloves and secured them over the cuffs of her sleeves, giving her costume a continuous appearance. Looking over herself in a full-length mirror, Silver Osprey was ready.

Sam flew out her bedroom window and veered towards downtown Raleigh, ready for the night crowd.
…………………………

Flying over the city’s industrial area, something bright caught Silver Osprey’s eye. Focusing her vision on the source, it looked like something was burning.

As Sam got closer she realized what it was. Next to a dimly-lit warehouse, someone had arranged a bunch of road flares into the shape of her Osprey symbol. It was obvious that somebody was trying to contact her.

Landing gracefully next to the signal, Silver Osprey scanned the surrounding area. There were lots of crates and cargo containers around, but the signal was in a wide open space. Sam was still scanning the area when she heard a seductive female voice coming from the direction of the warehouse.

“Silver Osprey, thank you for coming.”
The heroine whipped around and assumed a fighting stance facing the direction of the voice.
A tall woman with dirty blonde hair stepped out from behind a stack of boxes. She was wearing a white lab coat.

“Sorry, I didn’t mean to startle you,” the woman spoke, “I’m Dr. Lisa Carlson.”

Seeing the woman’s appearance and hearing her introduction, Silver Osprey assumed a power pose but didn’t drop her guard. “Could you please explain the meaning of this,” Sam spoke politely but confidently.

Dr. Carlson spoke very politely, “I didn’t know how else to get a hold of you, and phoning in a threat was out of the question.”
“Well for that, you have my thanks,” the heroine spoke as she allowed herself to relax a little.

“As far as why I was trying to contact you, I have a small problem that I was hoping you could help me with,” the blonde explained.
“Oh? And what problem is that doctor,” Silver Osprey asked in a friendly tone.

“I need help with some research I’m conducting,” Dr. Carlson started, “You see, I’m a geneticist.”
“Not that I wouldn’t mind helping doctor, but why would you need my help with research,” Silver Osprey inquired.

“Good question young lady,” the doctor replied, “My research involved determining whether or not enhanced abilities can be granted though gene therapy.”
“I still don’t follow you Dr. Carlson,” Sam responded, she was getting a little suspicious.

Lisa Carlson cut to the chase, “I want to study you. I’d like to take some scans and tissue samples. If I could determine which parts of the human genetic code control enhanced abilities, the possibilities are endless.”
Silver Osprey could see that the doctor was getting excited, which put her on edge. “But doctor, research and experimentation of that nature violates current Federal regulations.” By now the road flares had gone out. The only lighting now was provided by the dim external lamps of the warehouse.

“Screw the regulations, think of all the diseases that could be cured, the massive amounts of money that could be made,” Lisa blurted out.
Sam had had enough, “I appreciate what you’re saying doctor, but I’m going to have to decline.”

Dr. Carlson’s voice suddenly became seductive, “Come now young Osprey, let’s not be selfish.”

Thanks to her enhanced hearing, the grey and black-clad heroine could hear muffled footsteps to the left, right, as well as behind her. She widened her stance, suspecting things would soon become less formal.

Seeing the young heroine adopt a fighting stance, Lisa spoke in a sinister tone, “Well, I had hoped that you would see things my way, but make no mistake Silver Osprey, I will discover how your powers work.”

The warehouse lights suddenly went out, throwing the area into darkness. Sam’s eyes adjusted almost instantly; she could see things clear as day. The young heroine noticed several women step out from amongst the crates and shipping containers.

Dr. Carlson had taken a few steps back towards the warehouse. Again, she spoke in a seductive tone, “I know that you are trained in martial arts, my little Osprey, but let’s see just how good you really are.”

The women slowly began to encircle Silver Osprey. There were eight of them in all. They all wore black sleeveless leotards, flesh-tone tights, were very fit, and were gorgeous. The women wore no shoes on their tight-encased feet and based on the stances they took, Sam could tell that they all had martial arts experience.

The woman behind Silver Osprey, a redhead, attacked first. Sam heard her coming and swung her leg back in a high kick; her black boot connected with the red’s face and sent her flying.

Sam pivoted around in time to see the next attack. Her next opponent swung a left cross. Silver Osprey ducked under the blow and delivered an open-handed strike to her attacker’s face, which sent the woman stumbling backwards.

A brunette was the next one to take a shot at the heroine. She began throwing jabs at Silver Osprey, who starting stepping back as she blocked the blows. Sam knew that she was still surrounded and that the brunette’s assault was pushing her towards another foe. When she had backed up enough, Sam caught the brunette’s next blow and, pulling her forward by the wrist, sent her crashing into the henchwoman who was approaching Silver Osprey from behind. This move sent the two women crumbling to the pavement.

That left four women standing around the young heroine. Sam didn’t like being surrounded so she decided to change that. Leaping backwards, Silver Osprey performed a series of flips and twists that would have made most gymnasts envious. Sam landed several feet away with the remaining attackers now in front of her.

There was little hesitation as blonde-haired beauty attacked. She delivered several well-executed kicks and jabs. Unfortunately for her attacker, Silver Osprey was able to dodge every single blow. Stepping in close to her foe, Sam landed an elbow strike across her attacker’s face, leaving the woman stunned.

Grabbing the blonde’s shoulders, Silver Osprey flipped over the woman, twirling her legs as she did. This move caught two more henchwomen in the face and dropped them to the concrete.

Landing behind the still stunned blonde, Sam gripped the shoulders of the woman’s leotard and tossed her into the last remaining assailant. Both women collapsed.

Dr. Carlson, still standing next to the warehouse, was stunned. In a matter of seconds this twenty-something year old girl had defeated eight martial arts experts without breaking a sweat. Deciding that it was time for plan B, Lisa reached into the pocket of her lab coat.

With her assailants sprawled out on the pavement, Silver Osprey turned her attention to the devious doctor. Sam flew over and landed right next the geneticist. Grabbing the dirty blonde by her blouse, Silver Osprey effortlessly lifted the doctor off her feet and pinned her against the side of the warehouse.

“Alright doc, I’m taking you in,” Silver Osprey spoke confidently.
“So soon,” Lisa Carlson spoke in a devious tone, “but you haven’t taken your medicine.” As she said this, Dr. Carlson removed a white cloth from her lab coat and placed it firmly over the young heroine’s nose and mouth. Sam’s eyes went wide as she realized that the doctor was trying to chloroform her.

Silver Osprey immediately released her grip on the evil doctor and stumbled backwards. She had managed to hold her breath while the cloth was in place. Unfortunately, some of the chemical residue had wiped off onto her face and as Sam started to breathe again, she inhaled the fumes.

The heroine felt the moisture on her face and desperately tried to wipe the drug off. Although she was able to remove most of the chloroform, it was impossible to get rid of all of it. Fortunately for Sam, the dose she had received was not enough to knock her out. However, she could tell that her powers had diminished some.

Seeing the young heroine’s hasty retreat, Dr. Carlson grew cocky. “Oh don’t leave now little one, round two is about to begin,” she motioned behind Silver Osprey.

Sam spun around and was horrified to see that several of the spandex-clad ladies had caught their second wind and were advancing on her.

Re: Silver Osprey

Confident that her accelerated healing would rid her body of the chloroform, Silver Osprey attacked. She started throwing a series of kicks and punches at the closest woman, a blonde. Because of the effects of the chloroform, combined with her being so focused on her target, Sam didn’t notice that two more assailants had slipped behind her.

The woman in front of Silver Osprey managed to block several blows and then went on the offensive, forcing the heroine to back up as she started deflecting the attacks.

Finally, the assailant landed a jab on Sam’s chin that sent her stumbling backwards, right into the two women waiting behind her. They each grabbed hold of Silver Osprey’s grey-covered arms, holding her in place. The blonde didn’t give the young heroine any time to recover as she drove a knee into Sam’s well-defined abs.

The heroine coughed violently as the air was forced out of her and her knees buckled. The spandex-clad women on either side of her were the only thing holding Silver Osprey up. The young blonde cupped Silver Osprey’s chin with one hand. “Had enough honey,” she asked in a sweet, seductive tone.

“Hardly,” Sam replied as she head-butted the blonde, sending her staggering back. The heroine stood up and swung her arms forward, with the other two assailants still clinging on. The two ladies clocked heads and dropped to the pavement. Silver Osprey brought her arms up and assumed a fighting stance, ready to continue the fight.

The blonde had recovered from the shot to her face and had been joined by a redhead and a brunette. The trio spread out and slowly approached the grey and black-clad heroine.

The redhead suddenly lunged forward. Silver Osprey deflected the blow and countered with a roundhouse kick, which the brunette was able to dodge. The pair continued this pattern of attacking, blocking, and counterattacking for almost a full minute before both girls separated.

As Sam stared down the brunette, she noted that none of her attacks had gotten through this time. Her assailant, on the other hand, had managed to land several blows. Silver Osprey quickly realized what had happened.

Initially, the eight women had not put forth a full effort. They had instead been testing the young heroine. They were learning her style, searching for patterns, and looking for any weaknesses that they could exploit.

With this realization, Sam knew that things were going to be much harder now.

With a stack of crates at her back, the heroine knew that the only way out was forward, right through the brunette standing before her. Silver Osprey lunged forward and the two began their dangerous dance once more. Both women managed to land several blows this round, but nothing decisive.

Finally, Sam threw a high kick that was caught by the brunette. Grasping her grey tight-covered leg, the women hurled Silver Osprey into a crate, cracking the side of it. Sam looked up to see her attacker accelerate towards her. She ducked and rolled out of the way just as the brunette’s flesh tone tight-encased foot punched a hole through the wooden crate.

Looking to gain some distance, Silver Osprey leaped into the air, but she didn’t jump high enough. The redhead caught the trailing end of the black cape and used it to steer the heroine straight into the pavement.

Sam was dazed as she managed to slowly pick herself up. It didn’t make sense; her invulnerability should have protected her. She must have received a higher dose of chloroform than she had thought; and things were only getting worse.

A dirty blonde and raven-haired fighter had also recovered and moved in behind the heroine. Silver Osprey was now facing five foes and was once again surrounded. Unfortunately, flying away wasn’t an option. Sam knew that in her weakened state it would take too much energy. She was going to have to fight her way out of this mess.

The redhead sprung forward. She leapt into the air, intending to deliver a devastating kick Silver Osprey. However, Sam saw the attack coming and stepped out of the way. The redhead landed right next to Silver Osprey, her back towards the heroine. Sam seized the opportunity and delivered a quick kick to the small of her would-be-attacker’s back. The woman fell forward, landing face first into the concrete.

The dirty blonde moved in next. She started throwing short, quick jabs. Sam was able to block most of them, but the few blows that hit her forced her backwards. As Silver Osprey and her opponent continued sparring, the brunette quickly and quietly came up behind the heroine.

Sam only became aware of the woman’s presence when the brunette wrapped her arms around the heroine’s neck in a sleeper hold. Knowing she had only seconds to act, Silver Osprey jabbed her elbow into the brunette’s stomach, causing the woman to release the hold. The young heroine reached behind her. Grabbing the brunette’s leotard, she threw the woman forward and into the dirty blonde. Both women collapsed to the ground unconscious.

That left the raven-haired woman and the regular blonde. Sam executed several back flips in order to gain distance and bring both opponents into view. As she landed, Silver Osprey took note that the wall of the warehouse was several feet behind her, leaving the heroine precious little room.

The two remaining assailants attacked at once, leaving Silver Osprey no choice but to go on the defensive.

While the young heroine put up a valiant defense, there was no way for her to block every attack in her current condition.

Sam was running out of time and options when she caught a lucky break. The blonde threw a right hook that Silver Osprey managed to dodge, leaving the attacker wide open. The heroine didn’t hesitate and landed a devastating uppercut to the blonde’s jaw, knocking her out.

Unfortunately, Sam’s attack had caused her to drop her guard and the raven-haired woman delivered a roundhouse kick to the young heroine’s head. This caused Sam to stumble back against the side of the warehouse. Now that she had her pinned, the black-haired assailant pressed her attack against a very tired Silver Osprey.

Sam was able to get her arms up to protect herself; but quite a few strong blows landed against her chest and abs.

The relentless attack went on for about twenty seconds before the battered heroine grew desperate. In a last ditch effort, Sam reached out and grabbed the collar of her assailant’s leotard and yanked the woman forward. The raven-haired woman was unprepared for this and she smacked her head against the warehouse wall, hard. Her eyes rolled back into her head and she slumped to the pavement.

Silver Osprey leaned against the warehouse; she was exhausted and breathing heavily. Normally a fight like this would have been no problem for her, but the chloroform had robbed her of the advantage of her enhanced stamina, she had nothing left.

Sam closed her eyes for a moment before she snapped them back open, she had forgotten about Dr. Carlson.

The doctor was walking towards her now wearing a very sinister grin. She stopped a couple of feet in front of the weary heroine.

“You fought valiantly,” the doctor spoke seductively, “but I told you how this would end. You’re finished Silver Osprey.”
“Not…yet…” the heroine managed before throwing a weak, half-hearted kick while her back was still leaning against the wall.

Unfortunately, Sam was so weak the even Dr. Carlson was able to catch the pathetic kick.
“So you still have a little fight left in you, well we can fix that,” Lisa Carlson spoke seductively. Holding on to Silver Osprey’s grey tight-covered leg, the doctor began to gently stroke the inside of the heroine’s shapely thigh.

Sam knew she was done; her breathing was labored, her eyelids were heavy, and she didn’t have the strength to pull her leg away from the doctor’s teasing touch. All she could do was try to ignore the sensations that Lisa’s touch were causing along the inside of her thigh.

After about a minute of this, the doctor gently lowered the young heroine’s leg back to the ground and pulled the chloroform cloth from her lab coat pocket. She seductively walked the last couple feet to Silver Osprey until Dr. Carlson’s body pressed up against the younger woman’s fit, shapely form.

The taller Lisa lowered her face, bringing it inches from Sam’s beautiful face.
The defeated heroine’s eyes were half open as the doctor whispered seductively, “Let this be your final lesson Silver Osprey, I always get my way.”

Dr. Carlson then covered Sam’s mouth and nose with the cloth. As much as she wanted to fight it, Silver Osprey simply didn’t have the energy and her eyelids soon began to flutter.

As Silver Osprey’s eyes closed and her breathing slowed, Dr. Carlson whispered seductively in her ear, “Sleep well princess.” She then planted a gentle kiss on the young heroine’s cheek.

Re: Silver Osprey

Consciousness returned slowly to Sam. She noticed that she was lying on some kind of examination table and heard the soft humming of electrical equipment.

Opening her eyes, the heroine was treated to a collection of blurry images. She blinked a few times and her vision cleared. She seemed to be in some kind of dimly-lit laboratory.

Now Silver Osprey became aware of an x-ray type device hanging a couple inches above her body. It moved towards her feet at a snail’s pace, like some kind of medical scanner. Sam tried to move but quickly discovered that her feet, waist, chest, and head were all secured with leather straps and her hands were secured by her sides.

“I see you’re awake,” a seductive voice called out. Even though she couldn’t move her head to look around, Silver Osprey knew that the voice belonged to Dr. Carlson.

Sam heard the clicking of high-heels approaching. Lisa Carlson spoke as she undid the strap on Sam’s head, “The scan is almost done, you won’t be needing this.”

Silver Osprey strained against her bonds, but she was still weak from the chloroform and couldn’t break free. The heroine decided to try a different approach.

“Just want exactly are you doing to me,” Sam asked.
“You mean this,” Dr. Carlson tapped the machine hanging over the young heroine’s trim form, “I’m performing a body scan to help me determine how you got those fantastic abilities of yours.”
“But why,” the young captive asked.
“I told you outside, it had been my life’s work to unlock the human potential, and your special genetic profile will reveal the answers,” the doctor explained as she admired Silver Osprey’s attractive young form.

“Ah, it’s finished,” Lisa announced as the scanner stopped humming. Sam watched the doctor as she rolled the machine away and stored it against the wall. The young heroine noticed that the walls of the lab were lined with computer screens and a wide variety of expensive-looking machines. She pulled against her bonds and this time, there was a slight give, her strength was returning.

“Dr. Carlson,” Silver Osprey spoke confidently, “I’m giving you one chance to release me…”
“Honey,” the doctor interrupted as she walked back to the examination table, “You are in no position to make demands.” She reached into her lab coat pocket.

“Those straps holding you down have pressure sensors attached to them,” the sinister woman explained, “and you just set them off.” The doctor pulled a small handheld device from her pocket, the screen was flashing red.

Sam could only watch as Dr. Carlson reached into her pocket again, this time removing a white cloth. Lisa covered the heroine’s mouth with the cloth, despite her prisoner’s muffled protests. Within a few seconds, Silver Osprey’s eyes began to flutter. Much to Sam’s surprise, Dr. Carlson removed the cloth before the young heroine passed out.

Lisa leaned over Silver Osprey, their faces just inches apart. The young heroine’s eyes were half open, but she was still aware of what was happening.

The dirty blonde spoke seductively as she gently caressed Sam’s face with the back of her hand, “Don’t worry my little Osprey,” she started to move her hand down the heroine’s neck. “I’ll set you free eventually,” Lisa slowly ran her hand down Silver Osprey’s side, over her belt and briefs before stopping just above Sam’s knee. She then started to run her hand slowly up and down the inside of the young heroine’s thigh as she continued, “but not before I finish my research.” With that, Lisa leaned in and kissed the young heroine, passionately.

Sam was disgusted, but since her strength had not returned, there was little she could do about it and it was obvious that the doctor was enjoying this.

Dr. Carlson finally pulled away, “Wow. On second thought, I may want to keep you.” She smiled sinisterly as she walked to the far wall to retrieve another machine.

Sam’s heart was racing; she had not enjoyed Dr. Carlson’s little “exploration,” but it could have been worse. Besides, there was a silver lining to it. Since her heart was beating faster, the chloroform was being filtered out of her system at a rapid rate and Silver Osprey could feel her powers returning.

Dr. Carlson wheeled an EKG machine over to the table and began sticking electrodes on Silver Osprey, taking her time and obviously enjoying herself. She noticed that the heroine was breathing normally, which perplexed her. The chloroform should have caused the young girl to breathe slower.

Lisa was pondering this when the device in her coat pocket went off, the pressure sensors had been triggered again.

The doctor had no time to react as a black-gloved fist smacked her in the face, knocking her on her butt. She quickly looked up to see a fully-recovered Silver Osprey standing over her in a power pose.
“Impossible…the chloroform…” Dr. Carlson stuttered.
Sam grabbed the woman by her blouse and lifted her up off her feet. She spoke confidently, “You didn’t study your subject properly doc, I have accelerated healing that allows me to recover quickly.”

“Ah, so you need a continuous dose of chloroform,” Dr. Carlson remarked as she withdrew the cloth.

Unfortunately for the doctor, Silver Osprey was faster this time. She caught Carlson’s wrist and relieved her of the chloroform-soaked cloth. “That will be enough of that,” Sam said confidently as she through the cloth against the far wall.

“It’s over doctor, I’m taking you to the authorities,” Silver Osprey spoke.
“Don’t be so sure,” Lisa Carlson said as she pressed a button on her handheld device.

The lights in a dark corner of the lab snapped on, revealing two more examination tables. Sam noticed that two of the girls she had fought earlier were strapped to the tables unconscious, the blonde and the raven-haired girl. At the same time, the number 25 popped up on all the computer displays.

“Those lovely ladies over there were going to be my first test subjects once I had collected the data I needed,” the evil woman explained. “But now, they’re my ticket out of here,” Lisa pressed another button on the device and the number started counting down.

“We’re sitting on enough TNT to level this place,” Dr. Carlson continued. “Capture me or save them, not enough time for both,” Lisa taunted, “make your choice.”

The timer now read 15.

Silver Osprey glared and the doctor before she sped over to where the two fighters were held. Sam easily snapped the restraints on one woman and went to the other.

Silver Osprey carefully but quickly lifted the blonde onto her shoulder and returned to the other.

Sam got the black-hair woman onto her other shoulder and took off, flying through an open skylight window. She was hovering about a hundred feet in the air when the warehouse disintegrated in a brilliant fireball.

Scanning the surrounding area, Sam could find no sign of Dr. Carlson. Frustrated that the doctor had gotten away, Silver Osprey landed gracefully, set the two henchwomen on the ground, and waited for the police to show up.

It didn’t take long for several fire engines and a ladder truck to respond to the fire. An ambulance was also called to the scene, along with several police cars. Silver Osprey handed the two women over to the police and told them what had happened, leaving out certain details.

One of the paramedics walked over. Much to the heroine’s surprise, though she concealed it well, it was Mike.
“Silver Osprey, are you okay,” he asked in a professional yet concerned manner.
“Yes, I’m feeling much better now,” the heroine replied in a friendly tone, “but thanks for asking Mike.” Mike didn’t question the heroine using his first name, since it was sewn on the front of his uniform.

Once she determined that she was no longer needed, Silver Osprey took to the air and headed towards her condo. Ironically, Sam was meeting Mike for coffee again in a few hours and wanted to grab a quick nap.
…………………………

Lisa Carlson sat on the couch in her apartment and opened her laptop. She inserted a flash drive into the USB port and waited for the data to load.

The portable drive held everything she had on Silver Osprey, including the results of the scan she had conducted. Although it was a mere fraction of what she had hoped to collect, Lisa was far from disappointed.

The scan had revealed an interesting genetic make-up. It wasn’t enough to determine the heroine’s identity, but that had never been one of Lisa’s priorities. Reviewing the notes and data she had collected, Dr. Carlson was confident that she had enough information to get started.

It would take weeks, if not months, but Lisa was optimistic. Soon, using genetic and radiation therapy, she would be able to recreate superpowers in whomever she pleased. The doctor smiled to herself and leaned back, she was going to be busy.

The End
